Hillman Beer Brewery • $
25 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville

“Our first stop on our first trip to Asheville. Discovered this when looking for walkable dining from Cedar Crest Inn. If you don’t mind a little bit without sidewalks, it was an easy 20 minutes. We split a rice bowl and artichoke dip which was plenty for us and enjoyed a variety of beverages throughout. Food was great especially for a brewery, and the beer is among top-tier. Lots of seating, though outdoor was a little limited and a bit buggy by the creek in the backyard. Staff was really friendly and attentive, and the venue was fun and well kept. Hoping to make some time to come back!“

Only complaint is that their hours are very inconsistent and it is a crapshoot to see if they will be open past 5pm on a FRIDAY NIGHT.“

“This place makes an excellent martini (with blue cheese olives). It's a cool environment, somewhat crowded, but the busy-ness adds to the appeal. I think they shine more in cocktails than in food. The burger is made with American cheese, to its detriment. Burrata was good, and the table tried some small Spanish-style fish. We had another OK pasta dish as well. “The first time here won't be our last. Absolutely great food and vibes. Really, it's an eclectic little place, West asheville vibes and all. But the food was over the top bang on delicious. Had the Gobi 65; indo-Chinese cauliflower, lightly dusted with red pepper, coriander, and fried, it has some real kick, but the cauliflower is still there, little fresh ginger sticks, jalapeños peppers, 2 dipping sauces, one Soy based and one yogurt based. What a combo. Also, the Malai chicken roll; chicken marinated in yogurt, cardamon, ginger, and garlic, wrapped in a hot buttered nann with slaw, green chutney, cilantro and onions. To die for, the combination of flavors, the quality of the ingredients all come to gather in food perfection. I don't impress easily as a creative chef myself and having traveled the world experienceing so many culinary delights. Yep, this was right up there and right in my backyard.“

I did get a taste of the Roasted Beets and Cauliflower pizza. It was a very good combination. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and a Caesar side salad. The dressing was authentic with anchovies. I'm not a fan of anchovies, but it was so well balanced, I really didn't mind. I ate the whole thing. The Cuban came on a really great bread. I think it was baked locally and was really fresh. The rest of the sandwich tasted good, but a little skimpy on the meats. I'm used to Florida Cuban sandwiches which are plump with meat. I would visit Pizza Mind again on my next trip to Asheville and try a pizza.“

“I had been a patient at Mission Hospital for three days. They brought me in my Easter Dinner and I cried. The pork steak was sour. Nothing they had brought me was edible. I truly sat there crying and my nurse came in and I told her I was starving. She sniffed my food and made a face. She told me then, "you know you can order out for delivery". Then she said that when she was a patient there that she ordered out for all meals. I chose PIE:ZAA and ordered a slice of sausage. It was so good. When the nurse brought it to me she said "Good Choice." My stomach was smaller after not eating for three days but I almost killed that giant piece of pizza. It was a good amount and since I've gotten home I wish they delivered up on Rock Knob! I will go out of my way to go there when I am in town and will recommend everyone who will listen :)“

The band Binz was amazing and so much fun, the place is fun and funky and cozy with lots of art on the walls, and everybody was really friendly. And a guy came in with three big dogs that went around and said hi to everybody! The only thing is, we almost missed it because it was not on any of my Google searches!“

“Love stopping by here when I'm out shopping. Always fast no matter the line/crowd. Great place to bring your friends from out of town too. Cash only but prices are super reasonable and there are ATMs nearby. Super cute patio with both sun and shade. I love their signature crème brulee latte iced!“

“We LOVED our experience at the Golden Pineapple! It was our first time there, we've heard a little about it. The drink menu is very fun and has something for everyone. Non alcoholic and alcoholic options. We both had the Bodega sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches we both have ever had! Everything about the sandwich was incredible and the side salad was so delicious! The atmosphere was nothing short of pleasant. Fantastic place. We will definitely be coming back.P and J“
