“So happy we just popped it. After hearing great things we were driving by and stopped in . So glad we did. We were a day before our 10 yr anniversary and they made us feel so special. The food and drinks were great. I got sushi and Brussels.“
“I have been here several times. And the ambiance is always great. The staff is great. I have had the duck, land, and steak, they were all delicious. The French onion soup is really good. Everything I have ordered here has not disappointed in taste. You can spend $100 on one person with food and drinks. But you should come here for the food and experience not the price if that matters to you.“
“The Puddle Dock was pretty much exactly as I expected, considering how much I had looked into it ahead of time. The entire reason for going was for the rarebit my boss had informed me of during a discussion about foods I had grown up with. The food was all incredible and was interesting to see the inside of the building since I had grown up going to Strawberry Bank as a child and getting pickles from a pickle barrel when it was a store. The post and beam structure still looks incredible and the layout of the bar is extremely well done. The atmosphere that is given was extremely laid back. The one thing that took away, for me, was a few of the wait staff that had come by have an arrogance when speaking to you that is a bit off putting. It is clear that it is not all of them but enough to discourage.I had an old fashioned, the rarebit which came with bits of duck, brussel sprouts and a fried egg on top as an appetizer and the Shepard's pie as a meal. The Shepard's pie came out with a crust making it look more like pot pie but added a wonderful texture to it. The flavor was incredible though be warned of how hot that dish is and how long it will need to cool. Definitely worth the visit and experience.“
“Ate lunch with friends on drive home from Logan on our way back home from London. Our first meal back from London is a tough one. The food was fantastic. Had a nice window table with a view of the sparkly water. There was a vent blowing cold air underneath our table, but fortunately the server provided a small mat to cover it up. The cocktails were en pointe and well balanced - not too sweet which we appreciated. Even though we are all seafood lovers, two of the stars of the meal were the buffalo cauliflower ( great sauces and nicely fried- not greasy or soggy) and believe it or not, my daughter’s grilled chicken caesar was also really nicely done on all fronts. We all loved the haddock reuben ( again many nice touches- great cook on the fish, delicious sauces). I already mentioned the drinks. Cocktails were awesome ( we tried 3 different ones from the menu). My chief and probably only complaint would have to be the wine pours. I am spending top dollar on quality food at a respected restaurant- please give me a glass of wine. We spent over 300$ at your establishment, don’t serve me a splash of wine. Rather insulting. Everything else was wonderful. Kitchen staff are doing it right and our server Sierra was great. Bar program - don’t serve skimpy wine pours.“
“This place is pretty rad. My gf and I were looking for a cool spot for lunch (she's vegetarian, I'm not) and we found this joint. Sat at the bar, our server Lindsey was present but not looming, helpful but not pushy and kinda funny. Cocktail menu seemed new w names like "almost summer" and a solid beer list. The menu is broad enough that there were MANY options for each of us, and the portions were average to large. Whoever said the portions were small needs to stop ordering off the kids menu. Good music that you can recognize but always in the background. Just a cool, funky joint w great food. Eat here.“
“From the minute you walk into The Franklin you feel the warmth of the space. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. We ate everything and it was flippin amazing - I took my sister and her husband here and his eyes lit up when he caught site of the selection of oysters! He still talks about The Franklin and makes me take him there every time they are in town.“
“We eat at Betty's Kitchen at least once each time we come to Rye. We love this place for the comfort food breakfast. The menu has plenty of choices for egg omelettes, pancakes, French Toast, meats, and sides without the menu being too long. Absolutely have to try it.Parking: Parking is plentiful.“
“Great food and some unique combinations of ingredients. Spinach salad was excellent. Very tasty roasted garlic dressing. Had the stuffed sole special. Sauce was a lemon caper which over powered the delicate fish although my friend loved it. Tight seating so not much privacy between tables. We got there just before 5pm on a Thursday in March and place was almost full. They don't take reservations so go early.Parking: Small parking lot for restaurant. Street parking available“
“Delightful restaurant in the historic district in Portsmouth! Very friendly, super attentive service! Zoe excellent wait person! American tapas; small bites meant to share. Fab beef sliders ? and super good and authentic Italian sausage mini sandwiches. Loved the crispy Brussel sprouts cooked in the style of Carciofi alla Roma! Both the mini Whoopie pies and cinnamon beignets were fab!! Great place with super convenient location. Parking is expensive in the whole area but plentiful. Great and super fun dinner!!!“
“I just fed my family with a chopped Italian sub that literally changed the way I order sandwiches. Every bite was no only fresh but consistent...The only issue I have with subs is that all the fixings spill out each bite. Problem solved. If you haven't been to Oceanside, you haven't had a proper sub. Tell Mike I said "Hi"“
“A local hole in the wall tucked away in downtown Hampton. The menu is simple fairly priced and everything is made to order. Staff are friendly service was quick and we did not wait long for the food to arrive. Great selection of toast and pastries. No frills but worth a visit. Off street parking makes it easy to access.“
“I personally did not eat here but my wife and daughter, who has a severe dairy allergy ate here last night. My wife was overwhelmed with how accommodating they were and the level of seriousness that they took her allergy. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it is for us to go out to eat "like normal families do" and for it to not be a STRICTLY vegan restaurant. My wife told me she was close to tears. I just wanted to thank the staff at this great restaurant for giving them this experience. My wife and daughter are in town for a tour of UNH and I am very happy to know she will have a safe place to hang with friends and get a bite to eat without worry. It will definitely make the 5 and a half hour drive a little easier.Dietary restrictions: Severe dairy allergy“
“I haven't had a full 5 star experience at a place in a while. This is a restaurant but honestly it felt like so much more than a simple place to sit and be served food. John and Susan, the owners, were great to chat with. The space was decorated with a great vibe. The food was absolutely spectacular with unexpected flavors that were delicious. It's not cheap but it's a great value in my opinion. Highly recommend.“
“I've been visiting on and off occasionally for a few decades. Every time I drive by, the restaurant is busy!I've never had a bad meal or experience. My recent breakfast ? was good ?! I had the Californian Benedict with hash browns and a side of sourdough toast. Coffee ☕ to start. Enjoyable!Service was good ?! I was greeted at the door ? with a smile ?. My server at first seemed grumpy but became more friendly when I said my meal was good ?. Free ? refill on the coffee! The music ? was what is now considered "classic" light rock and country. It was at a pleasant volume and threw my mind back ? in time.If you go for breakfast ??, go early!! Portions to the price are good.I recommend a visit.Vegetarian options: Lunch would be a better chance for something vegetarian.Dietary restrictions: Let your server know about your dietary limitations ahead of time before ordering.Parking: The restaurant has its own parking ?️ lot.Kid-friendliness: Families are welcomed but call ahead for available seating.Wheelchair accessibility: Space is tight but they can accommodate a wheelchair ♿.“
“I've been to Tour on several occasions - dinner with my daughter, date night with my husband and a larger event/bday party. The simulators are a lot of fun, and if you are not into golf, it is also just a great restaurant to enjoy in town. They also have a nice bar and several screens for watching any type of sporting event. Definitely a great place to check out!“
“If you are looking for frills with your meal, this isn't the place for you. This is more of a hole in wall spot where the locals tend to hang out and they only accept cash. With that said we walked in and were told to seat where we wanted. We grabbed a booth and we were asked if we wanted coffee. Sure we yelled back and the waitress showed up at our table with a coffee pot, the mugs were already on the table. So was the plastic ware (remember I said NO frills) and napkins, as well as the sugar and butter, she brought some creamer with her. During the week they have lunch specials, however they have reasonable prices and large portions. We each got the number 4, which came with 2 eggs any style, a meat choice, and toast. We also each ordered a muffin. If you made it this far, don't be surprised when your food comes out on styrofoam plates (I said NO FRILLS!), but the food was good, I liked the plum muffin that was heated up and I had lots of laughs just listening to Uda, as she is a straight shooter. I will say that the lady who recommended it called herself a foodie and this is NOT where a foodie would normally send someone as this is stuff that is simple but good with NO FRILLS but will get you full and not break your pockets. With that, if I'm ever back in the area, I'll be back!“
“I'll be honest with all of you... This place is a small breakfast and early lunch location... the Woman who work here are very attentive to your needs... the real reason for anyone to go there is for there homemade Bread and Muffins plus Donuts... there out of this world... if you want Raisin Bread you have to order that ahead of time... Trust me Vrry Very GOODKid-friendliness: It's a place for mothers not to worry about“
“Finally placed a takeout order at Bob's having passed by it many times, and glad we tried it. Our order was ready on time as promised and was accurately put together. I tried a broiled quarter chicken with two sides (mac & cheese, sausage stuffing) and some corn bread. Everything seemed home made, hot and quite tasty. The stuffing really seemed home made, but the mac and cheese was a tad dry for my liking. The chicken was tender, moist and delicious. Like most food these days at any restaurant/supermarket, prices seemed a tad high. Portion sizes were generous however. I'll be back to try the chicken pot pie, which is one of my favorite comfort food dishes. Give Bob's a try! Sorry no photos as I dug in so quickly I forgot to snap first!“
“Pretty busy at 630am on a Monday. But for good reason. Food was really good, had the hash house Benedict and it was cooked to perfection, including the potatoes. Only thing that stops the dish from being perfect was the hollandaise, it wasn’t bad but if it was better it would just make it flawless. The service was great even considering how busy it was. Would definitely recommend.“
“Our second dinner proved as lovely as our first. We shared a cheese board equal to the price, loaded with various cheeses (one hard, one very soft and a bleu), pickled veggies, sweet, cruncy nuts and plenty of crostini. I enjoyed a stuffed (spinach), baked haddock, perfectly done while my husband relished his seared scallops, rice and bok choi. Given it was Valentine's Day, we shared the special flourless choclate cake--a bit overpriced, but good. I loved that I was able to try the two wines I was debating between (a Pino Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc) which allowed me, surprisingly, to chose the latter. The bar tender even made a perfect keoke coffee-- a recipe that seems to stump many! Bistro 1828 remains our 'go-to' for a special occasion--one of the few local seacoast restaurants whose food, service, atmosphere lives up to the its prices! (Our table was in front of a drafty door--the only reason for the 4 star--get a back or side table!)Parking: We lucked out on a cold night to sang a spot right next to the resturant, but there is also a bog lot across the street.“
“Went to Sunday Brunch. HUGE selection, GREAT FOOD OPTIONS, All the usually Brunch options PLUS a bunch of unique and special additions!!(fish, lamb, chowder, and desserts for days) Support staff was great, too! Cant wait to come back again and frustrated that I havent been to this brunch before today. Time for a nap.“
“The place was busy only 2 or maybe 3 servers we waited 20 minutes and lisa the head chief came out and ask if we needed menu's and she also got us our drinks and also took our food order. The food was great and so was lisa.Thank you lisa your the best!“
“We always get the warm feta dip. The haddock sandwich is awesome large portions perfectly crisp. It’s also connected to a nice bakery. Busy Sunday today so a bit slower than normal service but still everyone’s friendly and will come back.“
“Anneke Jans Kittery is truly a gem . Its elegant cozy atmosphere is so inviting and each time we go there it is the best dining experience. The open hearth kitchen visible from the dining room is beautiful !The service is always impeccable and every staff member is so friendly . They have a more formal dining room , or you can also dine in the bar area which is equally as cozy. The food is amazing every time we go and they have great cocktails . The owners are wonderful also and you feel so welcomed all the time .We both got a fish dish which was so well seasoned and delicious . They also have amazing vegetarian option which we have tried many times .It’s our favorite place for Birthdays , Anniversary or any other reason . In the summer they have a wonderful patio to dine in overlooking he whole Foreside .We can’t wait to go back !Vegetarian options: So delicious and innovative !“
“UPDATE 2/27/24- After a few good experiences we brought some out-of-town guests. Several of the food items were cold or barely heated and had to be sent back. It was kind of embarrassing after telling our guests what a great place it is, disappointing....PREVIOUS REVIEW I expected tender, juicy, smokey, meat with a good bark from a barbecue restaurant. What I didn't expect was the surprise of smoked maple sugar granules in the oysters, a delicious fiddlehead relish with the coffee rubbed smoked pork belly, and the grilled pound cake, probably the best dessert I have had in years! Very attentive service as well. Wow!“
“A delicious and memorable dining experience. The charm factor of this beautiful old space is off the charts and the staff were warm and friendly. Chef Evan Mallet is a wizard at sourcing the best local and seasonal ingredients. You can taste the passion and culinary skill in each dish. Reservations are not required but are highly suggested on busy nights. Pro tip: ask for the window tables upstairs to enjoy a romantic sunset!“
“Best pizza in Portsmouth! Great seafood offerings on the Dinner Horn side of the restaurant.Vegetarian options: Veggie pizza is my favorite offering.Parking: Caution, a portion of the parking lot goes underwater during King high tides. Once a month.“
“Ordered delivery via one of the apps. I meant to order from a closer location but got Portsmouth. Delivery time was extended 3 times. My fault for living more than 5 miles from the place. The tenders were fantastic. Absolutely delicious. Could use more sauce but were fine just as they were. When I Airfried the leftovers they were also great. I got onion rings. Very greasy. Thick. Very greasy. Probably wouldn't get them again. I got fries. Cold by the time I got them. Looked under cooked. Basically cold raw limp potatoes Order the tenders-you won't go wrong.“
“The staff is beyond caring. Drove up from NY. It had been awhile since I had seen my parents because I had broken both my elbows and ulnas and couldn’t move for many months. Took my mom and dad here for lunch per my mom’s request as she said it’s really her favorite. The staff quickly ran to clean off tables that people had just left. They were so understanding about my mom and dad’s walkers. They were incredible with all our different food requests and changes. Extremely patient with our complex order. They described the beer tastes and varieties for my partner. My mom is in the Cedar nursing home and she doesn’t get out much. So what they did next to make this special occasion even more special brought me to tears. My mom asked us for a popover with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. It wasn’t on the menu. They made it and brought it over to my mom. The joy on my mom’s face I will cherish forever. I can’t thank you all for creating such a special afternoon for our family. It meant the world. Big hugs!“
“First time visit and well worth it. Many beers on tap including several of their own, all which were very good. No flights offered however 4oz half pours serves the same purpose. The food was excellent as was our server. We were a party of 6 and were well taken care of in every way. We will certainly be back.“
“I was informed the ownership of this establishment is fairly new. That said, the food is very good, (albeit the portions slightly smaller than in the past). The prices are reasonable and the restaurant definitely has a local feel despite tourists waiting to get in...“
“I love this place! My 3 visits so far have all been great. The nachos were huge and they use real good cheese but I wish i asked for jalapenos on them. The herradurra reposado was flowing and so was the allagash white. The buffalo cobb salads are the best. Please dont change them! They are huge and in my opinion the best salad in Hampton/Seacoast area. Tv's on everywhere for entertainment. Friendly staff.“
“My mom and I met my niece here for lunch. This was our first visit but won’t be our last. The food and service were great. Portion sizes were more than we could eat. Thanks to our waitress for letting us hang out and visit for a while. Cool atmosphere too!“
“Food was pretty good... always is. Service not so great. I don't need a mom telling me when I need a water. Honestly it was rude. Didn't offer me a drink but water after 2 beers. Then left us alone for an hour... Will I return? Yes probably. Because it's local and has great food. Will that waitress be there? 9/10 says no. The service switches over every 3-4 months you never get the same people and that's weird to me... but the food is solid.“
“This charming old school diner/cafe is my go-to place when I am in town. Well prepared, vast choice of traditional breakfasts, with outstanding home made corned beef hash. Lunch specials are usually good as well. His fish chowder on Fridays only Are worth travelling far for. I reccimmend.“
“Went to a Christmas party here, it's beautiful. The staff is very nice and the food was great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, my only complaint, we were supposed to have dinner starting at 7, it was 830 before the salad came out and a little after 9 when dinner came.“
“We actually only got salads to go bit they were awesome. Sometimes I feel you get cheated on food quantities when it's take out. Not only was there a huge quantity but they packed the salad dressing separately and gave us extra. Thanks!“
“Had an awesome experience at the oar house this weekend. Got to sit at the bar and taste some new creations from the bartender. Was really cool watching the experimentation and getting a first glance at the upcoming drinks. Snagged a couple of photos ??“
“State Street Saloon is one of those places that make you feel welcomed. Good food at reasonable prices. Going strong forever in good times and hard times . It defines the true Portsmouth, old school, hard working town that has seen a lot of changes since my parents moved here in 1979.“
“Next to the water park on Lafayette Street. It has a very good Cinemagic movie theater, McKinnon's meat market, and Petco shop. There is also a convenient and very good Starbucks.Food can be had at the 99 Restaurant, Ollie's and Me, Subway's Restaurant, and Dough Craft Pizza. Cross the street for Taco Bell and Burger King. Across the street from Starbucks is Cantina Vida. The parking lot is currently under repair and building of a new structure.“
“My only real critique is that the steaks tend to be cut a little thinner than at competition's strak houses. My medium rare steak was more on the rare side which to me is more acceptable than less rare. Service is stellar and the food is good , with a lot of gluten free options.Dietary restrictions: They have a gluten-free menuWheelchair accessibility: A wheelchair could easily be accommodated“
“If you're looking for a cookie cutter, bland, no salt breakfast, this is NOT FOR YOU. The food is amazing, Kasha very clearly cares for her customers, and her son walking around trying to help will bring a smile to anyone who appreciates a family business. It's the family atmosphere my family of four was looking for as now locals.“
“Locals is a classic example of a sports bar. They have improved over the years but still stick to their roots. On this particular visit, we noticed how they hustled to keep everyone happy on Saint Patrick's Day. They are great at what they do.This restaurant has a massive bar, multiple TVs to watch sports, and games such as dart boards. Perfect place to catch up with friends. The drinks are STRONG! Each time I visit I can only handle one. As for the food, it is decent. If you stick to the apps and comfort food you will be satisfied. If you're looking for a drink and to watch a game, I recommend Locals.“
“Consistently great flavor and food every time. This was my first time at the restaurant but have had breakfast takeout many times before. Their Mickey Mouse pancakes (among others), avocado toast, and omelets are amazing. Atmosphere is quirky cute yellow dinner style with cool art pieces. This time around was their veggie breakfast burrito and my husband got lemon ricotta pancakes and they did not disappoint!Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options“
“Best Jamaican patty with coco bread I have found around here. One of the most authentic tasting places around. My husband ordered Ox tail which he said was very good. Could give a tad more Ox tail portions. Definitely visit here again. The owners were so nice. Mac and cheese had a kick to it. So my daughter didn't like it.“
“We stopped by on a whim and was surprised there was live music and no wait. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating. The wait staff was on the ball, we got seated quickly and checked on often even though they were busy. Will definitely be going back.“
“Stopped in for lunch, the place has amazing ambiance. We got the steak and cheese sub with sweet potato fries and a cheeseburger with French fries. Food was amazing. Our server/bartender (I forget her name?) was friendly and polite and great to talk to. Bloody mary was AMAZING!!!. HIGHLY RECOMMEND“
“Great breakfast/lunch diner...Joe if your listening...I bet this place would be great for late night breakfast dinning on Weekends. It is understandable for restaurants were to shy away from the late night intoxicated crowds it would draw, not to mention overcoming staffing issues. It just seem like Portsmouth has no late night options other than Gilly's and the Canolli place on Congress St, and neither offer sitdown service“
“This is the first restaurant I've visited while being back in the US, and I wasn't disappointed. The fish in the sandwich was twice as big as the bun!Great people, great location, and great food.I think the only thing I would change would be to add some made in hause sauces for the food.Overall great experience.Parking: There is plenty of parking on site.“
“Loved this experience! The ambiance upstairs was perfect and the cocktails were unique and delicious. The food was fantastic and I highly recommend the scallops. A dessert drink finished my night and I would highly recommend this for a date night dinner!“
