“I would like to pass along my review on Lefkes. Specifically, the extraordinary "ambassador"--the Lefkes manager--Eva who greeted our party. She greeted our party at the door, made our group feel special while making each individual feel recognized in a sea of humanity of guests. We were celebrating an office birthday party. She greeted each person with an elegance be-fitting of European royalty, with class and style. She ensured we were seated with a wonderful view of the dancing and action, while being able to enjoy our personal space. The food was to die for...she assisted the staff in serving the food and clearing our table to keep our dinner moving. When one of the people in our party requested a frappe, Eva asked one of the servers, "Dimtry" to prepare a classical Frappe. It was rich and creamy...Eva capped off our evening by having birthday pastries brought out with the flaring streamer...a memorable event from a very memorable person! thank you Eva and Lefkes! it became our Greek vacation! “Perfect little neighborhood gyro shop. We are frequent customers. Very residential area, quiet and relaxed. The food is great, it always tastes very fresh. Large portions. Our usual waitress Violetta is attentive, friendly, and wonderful. We live a block away and they are good neighbors and a wonderful addition to the community. Only drawback when visiting is that parking can be a challenge.“

“Finally! A delicious traditional lamb gyro! These are surprisingly hard to find in Manhattan. I’ve been craving a traditional gyro for a while but didn’t want to drive 1-2 hours roundtrip from Manhattan to Astoria/Queens. This place hit the spot and I would return!“

“Their lamb/beef gyro was really good. The bowl was stuffed! The wait was a bit long though, almost 25+ minutes just to get to order, and sometimes other people (I assume related) just cut in to throw in 5 or 10 other orders. The food came out very fast at least and I enjoyed my bowl. I see they have an online ordering site, so I may try that next time to reduce the wait. Would love to try the other items.“

“There is no lack of Souvlaki restaurants in NYC, let alone Astoria, but Christos Souvlaki Stand stands out.

Your basic choices (as I understand them) are- skewer, sandwich, or platter. Then you choose chicken or pork. While your order is being assembled, a couple of additional questions: hot sauce (say yes, it’s not that hot), BBQ sauce (say yes, it’s not what you think), and “everything”? (Also say yes, as this includes Tatziki, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.

I ordered a fantastic pork souvlaki sandwich (with all of the above). The pork had just the right amount of char and smoke from their natural charcoal, but it was still juicy and tender. The fresh pita became a sponge for all the delicious juice that needed a home before my belly. I had to take it home, but you can see its ample size. In total, I think it was $7!

If you need to get on the subway to come here, do it. It’s totally worth it.“

“Mediterranean food is my mother's favorite, and it was the biggest priority for our menu on our trip to NYC. I searched Manhattan for the right place, and Anatoli stood out right away.

We loved this place. The dolmas were just right, the spanakopita just like the kind my mom likes to make, the lobster was delicious, and the moussaka was hearty. The atmosphere was so friendly, and our waitress Ana was kind. We had so many questions about the place, and despite being so busy, Ana made time to answer every one.

The prices may be slightly higher ($2-$3?) than other places but you get what you pay for. First, the place is immaculate. Everything shines like a mirror. Second, the food is cooked by a certain kind of professional. I'll compare to another cafe nearby that offers a load of grease with your food. Not here. My hash browns were crispy, fluffy, perfect.
