“After moving to Bergen County I was on a mission to find the best Jamaican food spot. I’m from Queens, NY and I miss my South Ozone Park / West NY food.

I go to a gym nearby and just randomly found this spot and thank goodness I did.

The food is really good, everything is well balanced in terms of flavor and the hospitality is great.

We’ve all seen that “we don have dat” video and this is the opposite. If he doesn’t have it, give him a minute to work his magic. Your patience will be rewarded.

If you like good seasoned food, just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t. I’ll be coming here every time I crave oxtails and fried chicken.“

“My wife and I generally eat for five people, we ordered 4 small plates and 2 mains, still looking into dessert. Each dish had its own layer of perfection with unique flavors and exquisite presentation. I’d say a restaurant on its way to becoming Michelin…..bravo! “My mom's been raving about this spot, so it was our first stop in town! The decor is impeccable with beautiful, meaningful details, and the vibe is EVERYTHING. I love that they have high chairs for toddlers—many upscale places miss that mark. Our server Jerome was so helpful, and Matthew was super kind when we chatted. We tried the Montego Bay, Hugp Spritz, Rum Punch, and Island Float, and all the drinks were a 10/10! The food was also really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the trio tacos because there was minimal fried shrimp and I didn't like the plantain just sitting on top, but the flavor was amazing nonetheless, just needed more shrimp. The coconut shrimp were a 10/10, and the plantain cups are really good, they just need to be filled more.“

“My opinion is 8.7/10. Is it the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had? No but overall our place that makes handmade Jamaican beef patties with a good overall flavor I recommend it. “Try the codfish cakes. Scrumptious! Curry is always good and oxtails are braised perfectly. The food is savory and seasoned well. Love the comfort on the restaurant, great place to try out some Antigua cuisine. The menu has American food also. I highly recommend Cafe Metro.“

“Popped in for some food after hitting the pool - everything was so fresh. I got the fritura and was blessed with a massive portion of fried, fresh, incredible meats, cheese, and plantains. The chicken was so moist and juicy, the chicharron was deeply flavorful and had me floored; truly so fresh, tasted like a mama made it for me. My partner got the pernil and it was also incredible. 10/10!!!“

The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, the curry goat was tender and flavorful, the fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and delicious, and the ackee and saltfish was authentic and well prepared. The Escovitch fish was outstanding, the rice and beans and spinach rice were cooked to perfection, the fried plantains were sweet and delicious, and the freshly steamed vegetables were the perfect complement to the meal.

“I came here twice and I must say that the curry goat and fried chicken is the best. I order a medium curry goat with white rice and a side of fried chicken. 10/10. But for $26?! The issue is that you can’t really get what you want. Hear me out for example… you can’t get a small order of oxtail….like?! You can only get a medium size with a side. It’s overpriced. Just by looking at it I can tell it’s not even worth the price. Also if you get like a medium size meal with any meat and rice you can’t get it with plantain. It’s extra charge. BUT I WILL SAY THAT THE PORTION IS WORTH IT. THEY GIVE MORE. I’ve tried the Mac and cheese and it was baaaadd. Just cheese and unseasoned roux. That’s if they use roux. It’s oily and you can’t even see or smell a spec of seasoning. Taste like a sweet treat no shade. The fried chicken though I give that 15/10. Tastes better than Kennedys. The goat meat falls off the bonnnneeee. The rice is perfect; not too mushy and not too rough. I’m on my way there right now😂😂. Is it worth trying? Hell yeah. The Mac and cheese though.. that’s to your advantage.“

“I saw that one review from the person saying their oxtail was bad, but saw a plethora of positive reviews standing against it. I decided to give them a go and do NOT regret it! Lovely little spot for a late night meal! The cashier was very pleasant with a great attitude. I came by after finding my Airbnb and ordered 3 empanadas: Jerk Chicken, Salmon, & Oxtail. This is not a standard menu option, but she told me I could mix and match :)

“Great little local spot I found on my FB timeline feed and decided to go myself for the Wednesday happy hour. I got the calamari spicy wings and coconut margarita. The wings were a little tough but very spicy the ranch dressing is definitely needed. The calamari was delicious fried to perfection with good sauce on the side, just wish they added lemon wedge. The coconut margarita was tasty with a nice buzz.“
