“We had a WONDERFUL time at Mala Project this week. Our server, Kyle, was extremely helpful in recommending ‘must haves’ for our appetizers, dry pot and, of course, drinks. We planned for only a quick bite to eat, but the atmosphere was so welcoming, we ordered more drinks and hung out for a while. Highly recommend this restaurant!“
“This tiny restaurant is reminiscent of an authentic Japanese eatery, from the decor, to the service and importantly the food. It offers a style of hot pot that is more like a stew. The pork belly broth is full of flavor. The bean sprouts and the cabbage gave the stew a nice crunch. A very hearty and filling meal. The service was outstanding. I will be back for sure.“
“Solid hot pot place! I came on a cold Friday night with a friend for dinner. We did make a reservation ahead of time just in case, but the restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside. You use the tablet at the table to place your order. It defaulted to Chinese, so you have to switch it to English if you can't read it. We were not totally sure what everything was on the menu based on just the names. Food/Drinks: This is a communal hot pot place, so there is one large pot in the center of the table for your party instead of individual hot pots per person. This is a la carte instead of an all your can eat hot pot restaurant. You start by selecting the type of broth that you want. I recommend doing the half and half option, so you can try more than one. I typically get one spicy and one non-spicy. Be warned - the spicy one is SPICY! We got the lowest level which is "Normal," and the heat builds the more you eat it. I'm pretty good with spicy food, but I do not think I could do more than the "Normal" level. We also tried the pork bone broth, which was a good complement as our non-spicy option. You will select your preferred ingredients like meats, seafood, and veggies in order to cook them in the broth. We decided to go with beef, tofu, and veggies. The meat comes on a plate that they put on its side, which was an interesting presentation. Don't forget to make your own sauce at the sauce station to dip your cooked items in. We also got the kumquat lemonade, which was quite refreshing! It ended up being about $50/person for everything that we ordered. Service/Ambiance: We were confused at first because the restaurant sign is higher up, so we were not sure it was the right place. When you first walk in, there is a bubble tea stand to your left and a waiting area, so it was a big confusing. The sauce station is in the middle of the restaurant. Service is pretty standard for an Asian restaurant meaning it's not great. You will need to flag people down if you need them as they don't typically come over and check how you are doing like at standard American restaurants. This doesn't typically bother me since a lot of Asian places are like that. Overall: I would go back again for more hot pot!“
“We ordered the lower priced ($40/person) hot pot and sushi rolls option. They brought more food than we could ever eat! It was our first time there so we weren't quite sure what we were doing, but we had a great time and left very full. We'll definitely go back next time we're in NYC! Service was a bit slow at times, especially when wanting to get the check and pay. We were there early in the evening midweek and they weren't very crowded.“
“This place is great! The service is awesome! You don’t have to ask for meat refills as the servers would come and ask when they see empty meat plates. A side note for kpop fans, this place play SM Entertainment songs like 90% of the time! (For the rest 10% I don’t know those songs) ???“
“From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a wonderful dining experience.About the food – the lamb and A5 wagyu were nothing short of phenomenal. Bursting with flavor, each bite was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to sourcing the highest quality ingredients from around the world. And the cocktails? They were the perfect accompaniment to the meal, expertly crafted and incredibly refreshing. But what truly made my visit memorable was the impeccable service, courtesy of Sam, one of the supervisors. Her friendly and attentive demeanor elevated the dining experience to another level, making me feel like a valued guest from start to finish.I can't wait to return and indulge in their mouthwatering dishes and delightful cocktails once again!“
“Absolutely outstanding hot pot experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The selection of ingredients was vast and fresh, ensuring there was something for everyone's taste. The broth was flavorful and aromatic, making every bite a delight. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff catering to our every need. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone craving authentic and delicious hot pot.“
“Shabu Shabu Mayumon is probably in my top 3 Shabu Shabu in the US, including another Shabu Shabu restaurant in Beverly Hills.Shabu Shabu Mayumon is amazing from the start to the end. This is a very tiny restaurant in lower Manhattan with only 6 or 8 seats at the counter bar.One person is serving you and one person is taking care of preparing the Shabu Shabu. This is a new concept in between Shabu Shabu and Omakase in a sense where the chef is cooking the meat for you in the Shabu Shabu and then serve it one by one in your plate. This is a dégustation of amazing fresh products including different types of A5. Overall it's worth any minute in this traditional restaurant. There is no surprise they received a Michelin Star.We will come back any time we can! Delicious and great moment.“
“I have been on the hunt for a new hotpot place after frequenting my last place in bayside for almost ten years. I was so happy to find JOYPOT super close to my new home in Astoria. Not only is the quality of their meat and veggies 10/10, but their mushroom broth and spicy broth are phenomenal. My boyfriend LOVES the mushroom base and it’s incomparable to anywhere else we’ve even been.My only qualm with AYCE places is that they don’t usually let you take your food home, and that is what I was told when I first called JOYPOT. However, on today’s visit, I asked if they can charge me for whatever we left behind and allow us pack our leftovers, and they gladly let us at a small fee. THANK YOU, Joypot!!! You are my new go-to and I’m so glad I found you ?? the fact that you will allow me to pay an extra fee and take my food home brings me so much joy ☺️“
“$45 AYCE hotpot with drink included (excluding alcohol) and 40 different broths. came on a friday night and didn't have to wait for a table of 2 compared to surrounding hotpot places all with 1.5-2 hour waits. Cost included ice cream too, which had lots of flavors to choose from“
“This authentic and yet upscale hotpot restaurant is fabulous, worth to visit again ( in which, I am returning AGAIN today with a party of 6!) Highly recommend Dolar Shop Manhattan to anyone who loves hot pot because of the following: -Excellent friendly service ( special thanks to Jason's exceptionally wonderful, attentive service, as well as the incredible professional manager Charles ) - Flavorful broth - large variety of food to choose from - high quality meat choice ( fine wagyu beef , USDA PRIME boneless short ribs, as well as fresh seafood ) Fresh and crisp veggies - clean environment“
“Came here with two girlfriends on a Monday evening and had a great time! The staff were super knowledgeable and gave us a full breakdown of the menu which was appreciated. Overall, broth was flavorful, the combos were the way to go and everything was fresh and well presented.“

“Great place for hotpot. Contemporary interior with iPad ordering and food flavors were super authentic. We got the 2 flavor broth - chicken chestnut & normal spicy level. And let me tell ya… the normal spicy level was SPICY. This is coming from a group of Chinese people. We went for my birthday and they had a crew come out with fun signs, birthday music, and dessert with a candle!“
“Great service, staff, and fresh cuts of meat and vegetables. Price is reasonable and every time we go there we look forward to the next visit. They have fruit slushes too that are great as well. Would recommend the crazy tomato and sukiyaki broth's. Just typing about it is making my mouth water lmao. Big big fan and worth the drive and the visit.“
“It was a really nice experience with all of my friends last night. We went out as a group of six and made a reservation ahead of time. I like that the menu was on the phone and so that we could continuously see the menu so that we could keep ordering food when we wanted to. I love the all you can eat, and some of the little special items on the menu or a great addition as well. It was really busy but the ambience was nice. I’ve been to the one in Brooklyn and now I’ve been to the one in Chinatown Manhattan and both experiences were really great and I enjoyed both times out.“

“Very delicious hot pot!! To us the highlight would be the soup base, we got the tomato base, and the duck soup with pickled radish base, both are very flavorful and yummy. And all of the food ingredients are good, and good portion size too. And the staff are all very friendly as well, didn’t really have to wait for very long for services. Will recommend this place!“
“First time there and the experience was exhilarating. Our Server Kai was patient, attentive and seemed excited explaining to us how to order and use the equipment as well as to show us where the sauce bar is located. The location is clean and the environment was welcoming. Thank you for the experience.“
“The food was of the best quality I have had in Midtown! Fresh fish and delicious rice bowls. The service was extremely forthcoming. The place was quiet even though it was a good lunch crowd. A minor issue for me is that the kitchen is open (like many other places), so some fabrics take on the smell.Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, Vegan, gluten freeWheelchair accessibility: Street level, no stairs“
“Hometown is a clean and big restaurant with affordable prices to eat all you want in Chinatown. The staff is patient and kind, but quite busy since the restaurant is big with many tables. We were 8 and were seated in the large room in the back. There was a SPECIAL PRICE including all you can eat hotpot and bbq combo for 41.99 plus taxes for 1.5 hours. Drinks or desserts are not included. You pick your broth type and then all the ingredients you want including meats, seafood, and vegetables and the same for barbecue. Everything is fresh and you can decide how you cook it in your individual pot. For the barbecue they cook it for you. They actually REFILL your broth if you want more. There is a sauce station where you can create your own sauce, it was fun and I was really happy with the result. Make sure you put some PEANUT SAUCE!I went on safe mode and ordered the PLAIN CHICKEN BROTH, but it was not too flavorful, it seemed watered down. I liked everything but the only one I do not recommend was the EGGPLANT for the bbq, they added some garlic sauce on top that was not good at all and left me with a bad taste.Make sure to CHECK YOUR RECEIPT as they had charged us for all combo hotpot and bbq while not all of us had got it and they had assured us that each person could choose individually.SPANISHHometown is a clean, large restaurant with affordable prices to eat all you want in Chinatown. The staff is patient and friendly, but quite busy since the restaurant is large and has many tables. “We ate dinner tonight and it was great! Fresh produce, meat was flavorful, we didn't have much of the hot food, but we enjoyed ending with fruit and black sesame soft ice cream. We got a seat for 5 at 6pm with no wait. One note abt the price - the whole table has to order the same type of buffet. My husband and Father-in-law wanted the buffet with meat but they ended up doing buffet only and ordered meat on the side since that's what the rest of us wanted. It worked out and everyone left satisfied and full! Service was fast and attentive.“
“It was a cold friday night, and my girlfriend's family and I decided to go to our favorite hot pot restaurant in long island city, but for some reason, they closed for renovation, and that’s why we decided to go to Da Long Yi Hot Pot.We were lucky that we had the table right away.By far for anyone who looking for flavorful hotpot in long island city. I absolutely recommend you to try Da Long Yi hot pot. The quality of meat are excellent. The chestnut chicken soup is rich and creamy.“
“I finally had it on my third week here. Be sure to call in advance to make a reservation. All hot dishes must be prepared 1 hour in advance, even for pick up! The duck soup is indeed very delicious! It’s too much for two people, the raw marinade is great, the recent shrimp has paste but the crab has no paste, the bibimbap is also delicious, perfect for when the weather is cold!“
“Great little Korean/chinese styled malatang spot. Their level 1 spicy is quite spicy, so be warned. It wasn’t shown on their menu but you can also order 0.5 spicy level. But if you have pride like me, that might be hard to do.All their vegetables were really fresh, the meat options were plentiful and juicy. After you pick your food and put it in the bowl, the cashier even drains out the water for you to save you some cash. Classy. Their broth was also quite flavorful, not too salty like some places. You also get a free dessert if you pay with cash. Some other pluses is that they have a small parking lot out front that can hold about 4 cars.We also got there on a Friday night, and there was a quite a line waiting for a table, so be aware of wait times later in the day. Would definitely recommend this place to spicy enthusiasts. There are also some non spicy options..but then what are you doing here? lol“
“Came here for lunch during restaurant week. Was surprised they gave us the restaurant week menu on a Saturday as it is for weekdays only typically. They had three different sets: $30, $45, and $60. All three are three course prix fixe, with the main differences being the 2nd course. I chose the $45 course. The first course was Assortment of Appetizers, which included chicken truffle pintxos, salmon sashimi salad, and eggplant sesame sauce. The second course was Yosenabe & Bara Chirashi Don. The third course was the Original Matcha Anmitsu. This was a green tea ice cream served with Uji-matcha jelly, yuzu jelly, red beans, rice cakes, drenched in soy milk. Overall this was a solid deal and was filling.“
“We had a delicious Sukiyaki last night with Chicken and prime rib eye. I love that you have a salad and ice cream complimentary. The staff is very helpful, the setting is comfortable and if you go really early you probably don't need a reservation. Going later you most likely will.“
“Always love hotpot. Lao Jie is always great. We usually eat at the one in Brooklyn but we were in the city and wanted to try it out. They have more options on the menu as opposed to the Brooklyn locations. I always go for the shrimp paste that’s my favorite. The service is very good and helpful. If you plan on going there is a discount with cash but they do accept credit card. When we went it was lunch on a weekday so there weren’t many people. Very clean and very quiet. You wouldn’t think that you were eating in the city“
“This place was pretty solid for a hotpot skewer place in manhattan, although come in prepared with how to order. I read some reviews on here to see what I should do, and in the end we had a very pleasant meal. If you're dining in, get seated. Each table has its own individual QR code which makes it easy for service to get you appetizers and non hot pot items. Just make sure you're clear on what you want before you add it. Once you hit send for the first round, every subsequent addition will send it to the kitchen. For hot pot there's a whole wall of skewers from .80 c, 1.60 c (some items have two skewers in them) to $5 (metal skewers). There is a minimal sauce station but honestly it was enough for me. The sauce bowls come premixed with dry and oil based sauces and the ingredients are on the wall. You can add a few items like herbs chilis and sauces to them. Pick a base, then give someone a tray of all the skewers you select and then they cook it in the kitchen. Everything here you can add as you go which is nice. Ambiance is very chill, and very comfortable. You're pretty much left alone aside from ordering from your phone or getting more skewers, pretty much self serve. I'd come here again. Lastly, their soup dumplings were surprisingly nice and they come free with any meal over $10. I thought this was a lunch thing so we double ordered xlbs and were actually pretty happy about that. The menu can be a little confusing, I would take each page very literally. We also had the fried pork and smashed cucumbers, pretty solid.“
“This was a pleasant surprise. I was craving dry hot pot at 9pm lol decided to give this one a go.I got the sliced beef dry hot pot. Serving was generous and food was delicious. But the one thing that stood out to me was the service. In NYC, it's very very hard to find a quality of service that makes you want to tip more. This was it.Raymond was awesome! This will be my go to spot hot hotpot!Great food and even greater service. Highly recommended!“
“Being Chinese Muslim it's hard to find a hot pot place with spicy broth that's not made with pork bones. Not only that it has a lot of flavor too! Small place but I love the food here. Also highly recommend the white peach fruit tea!“
“Honestly me and my mother really enjoyed this spot (also we are Japanese so trust me we are a little judgmental when it comes to Japanese food). Pretty pricey— but it’s sushi in Times Square so to be expected. The atmosphere is fun and good service.“
“It’s kinda a you gotta experience for yourself I’ve come here countless of times alone and with company and I have always been treated right never been wronged and the food is always amazing honestly just choose anything and I can assure you gone like “
“The best in all of jersey. First of all the staff is beyond amazing. The price is perfect and can I say CLEAN!!!!! They have the most sweetest professional and extremely attentive and hardworking staff. Everything is fresh. Go there at least 2 times a week and every time we’re greeted with warmth. Please check this place out and make sure it succeeds forever. 5 stars is never enough for them. They need 10 stars.“
“Momokawa is an awesome Japanese restaurant. The service was excellent! The ramen and takoyaki we ordered were so tasty. The seaweed tasted weird; I will not order that again. The atmosphere is excellent! I wish there were some background music playing because it is so quiet. I will come back to this place!Parking: Hard parking, street parking. Expect to get ticketed.“
“My favorite restaurant! As someone who studied abroad in China and ate Malatang weekly, nothing can compare. The only reason this gets a 4/5 is because of the price. You have to spend a minimum of $20. The soup I got (pictured) was $27. There is no reason a bowl full of vegetables and noodles should be that much. Service was great, but there is a definite difference in the way they treat Chinese guests and non-Chinese. I know how to order and collect my food, but the waitress tried to do everything for me. When chinese customers came in, they were just told to seat themselves and get their food. I understand not a lot of people have experienced Malatang before and would need guidance, but I knew what I was doing and it got a little annoying. Very specific and personal complaint, overall good service.“
“A not-so-secret gem at the food court in Newport mall. The Taiwanese beef noodles always hit the spot, with huge chunks of tender beef and fresh bok choy. A close second are the pork chop noodles, with a super rich, milky soup and crispy pork cutlet. I also love their rendition of 卤肉饭 braised pork rice which mixes in bits of firm tofu and mushrooms. At $15/bowl, this is a perfect quick meal and I’m always satisfied and happy!“
“Wow! It reminded me a little of the Dr. Who police box, tiny and unassuming on the outside and opens to wonders. This place looks like an old barely surviving restaurant from the outside, and opens into a newly updated beautiful interior. There's sometimes only one person handling those seated inside... and with plenty of packing for pick up and delivery... she's often really busy. But always with a smile, and a help. Right off the bat we were offered a free bowl of soup. I had the hot and sour, and it was spicy, but not killer spicy... just right. Everyone got different main courses, and no one was disappointed. The fried dumplings were slightly more popular in our party than the steamed ones. The main dishes (I had the tripe) were all cooked just right and had a kick... but NOT a boot to the face. No room for dessert, so I can't report on that. The portions were all generous.“
“This is our go to hot pot spot. We have dined here over 20 times in different group sizes. A simple set up to pick your selection of ingredients and pass to the staff to customize your hotpot. The staff are always kind and eager to help. The food has never failed us. Must go if you’re seeking comfort dry/soup hotpot.“
“I liked this place every much...a bit pricey but great of going out with friends or family. The all you can eat with all the different types of side sauces is a great option. I will surely be coming back to this place...great place for a date night as well. The only thing I didn't like is the food wasteage. They should give the option to get the remaining food as take out instead of throwing it but with in reason so people don't abuse the system by loading up their pot.“
