One of my favorite parts was seeing the photos of the cakes she has created over the years. You could really feel her creativity and passion through everything in the shop. “My husband and I made the long drive yesterday (2 1/2 hrs each way) from upstate NY to visit our daughter in NYC just for the day. While strolling around her neighborhood we came upon your lovely bakery and cafe and after eyeing the beautiful carrot cake in the window, we had to go in. Carrot cake is my favorite sweet treat. There were so many beautiful choices, but we got 2 slices of carrot cake to take back home with us. After the long drive back home we were really looking forward to a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. I opened one of the beautifully packed boxes, which revealed an enormous slice of yumminess!! The slice was big enough for at least 3 people. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Everything about this cake was phenomenal. The frosting was outstanding, the cake was so flavorful and moist. It was the best we’ve ever had. We have enough left for a few days. I’m so glad we stopped in. It was a great way to end our lovely day in the city and will most certainly go back on our next trek in . “What a lovely surprise ! I knew the staff as they were formerly working at the iconic Yaya’s Bakery, a staple family business in 31 st that closed down after many years of business. Malú offers unique pastries, such as the Dubai chocolate cheesecake that is to die for, I ordered their olive bread as I used to do when Yaya was open. Their berry napoleons are the best, the spanakopita and the leek pies are very fresh and tasty, I also ordered them. In summary, a unique business in terms of quality, variety, cleanliness and the warmth of their staff. I highly recommend Malú and the only regret I have is that they are not closer to me as they used to be, but worth the walk !“
