“The popcorn chicken was so good. I think it was my favorite dish of everything we ordered, and the potatoes were perfectly done. The pasta was good, but I didn’t go crazy about it. The shrimp toast was good, and the sauce was excellent. The mushroom bibimbap was tasty and had a kind of coconut flavor at the end.

The restaurant was very loud; I couldn’t hear what the people at my table were saying. The service was all over the place. They had a problem with the AC unit dripping, so they put a pan underneath to catch the water, but they dropped the pan all over the floor and into the kitchen. They didn’t seem to clean their hands afterward and continued serving customers.

The restaurant was very understaffed. The food is great, but the place needs to feel a little cleaner and more organized.“

“After a cold and windy morning, not being able to get into one of the morning shows, we ran across this little restaurant by accident for brunch. They quickly welcomed us in with open arms and fresh hot coffee. It was one of the best brunches I've ever had, but what made it even more special was Joey the owner overheard our story, knowing we had a rough morning, and gifting us one of his comfort food cookbooks! The day couldn't have been any better. I can't wait to try one of his delicious Italian recipes this holiday season. I highly recommend the Little Owl. I certainly will be going back in the future!“

“Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!). Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!“

As an investor in restaurants I'm very critical when visiting any restaurant and not often impressed even with well known critically acclaimed restaurants. It's very rare when a place has truly incredible food with every appetizer and entree as well as first class VIP vibes for service. You could literally taste the passion and care put into every plate with beautifully prepared flavorful abundant meals. In fact, it was the first time in almost a decade I brought home leftovers as the meal was delicious and easily sufficient for two people. Our entire table raved about their meals and the attentive but not obtrusive service was always there to refill our wine and assist without any of us having to look up for service. The food alone would have made for a great night but what truly made it memorable besides the great waitstaff was the manager, Eli. When was the last time a manager, GM or owner greated you at your table to share a polite, interesting and passionate conversation about the food and why they love sharing this experience with their valued customers? He made our entire table feel like VIPs and made perfect recommendations for wine and dessert. It felt more like we were in someone's home as we were there for close to 3-1/2 hours talking, eating, drinking and laughing. The ambiance is warm and unpretentious and the memories of a great experience will certainly bring us back again.“

The dim sum was authentic and delicious, the vegetable dishes were extremely fresh and not overcooked, and the noodle dishes superb. Loved the soup dumplings and the cha siu bao. We ordered a good amount of food and had a hard time picking out favorite dish because everything was so good.. The staff were also very accommodating; we ended up with an additional person in our group, which they made work for our seating. I look forward to going back!“

Very casual setup, nothing fancy. A lot of students coming through, people eating solo or in small groups — pretty easy spot to drop into without thinking too much.

Food is more on the home-style side. Not overly heavy or overly seasoned, which actually makes it easier to come back to. Portions are decent, and prices are reasonable for this part of the city.

It’s not really a “destination” restaurant, but more of a reliable, everyday kind of place. If you’re around NYU, I can see this becoming part of a regular rotation.“

“I came for my birthday on Monday and had a fabulous time. At the bar, the setting and ambiance was beautiful, service was attentive and friendly, and even gave us a birthday drink on our way out. The food was delicious and would have ordered more if I didn't have dinner right after. One major thing of note is that it was incredibly difficult to edit my reservation. I accidentally made it for the wrong time, totally my fault, when I went to change it on OP, I was given a message that I had to call the restaurant to change the reservation. I called a few times and no one picked up. There's a $25 per person fee for cancellations and no shows that I was not about to eat. It felt like the only way to edit my reservation was to go to the restaurant myself and speak to the hostess since I couldn't get an answer on the phone. Finally had the idea to call the concierge in the hotel the restaurant is apart of, after several minutes of being held on hold, I was able to change my reservation to avoid the fee. As a host of a pretty busy midtown restaurant I was surprised by how difficult it was to get a hold of someone, especially because I'm glued to the phone while I'm at work. Once I did, they were polite and helpful. Just don't make the same mistake I did and double check your reservation before confirming your booking!“
