I'm a picky cheesesteak eater I don't like the meat to be stretchy as I'm trying to bite into it and I dont like when the bread is wet from the grease their cheesesteaks are good! “Montegrillo is my favorite place when I’m craving authentic Italian food. The owners are amazing guys—always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely nice to see every time I come in.

The food has consistently been great. I’ve tried the pizza and tomato pie, and both are excellent. The seafood bisque with the special bread they serve for dipping is honestly one of my favorite reasons to go there. It’s that good.

The Chicken Portofino with spinach and Alfredo sauce over tortellini is always amazing. I’ve also had the mushroom sauce dish, which was very good, and the pasta with garlic and olive oil was simple but absolutely delicious.

I’ve been cutting back on carbs for a while, so when I decide I’m going to have Italian food, I want it to be worth it. When I want authentic Italian beyond just pizza, Montegrillo is where I go.

“First time going earlier. Ordered 3 cheesesteaks after seeing images on another page. These cheesesteaks are super heavy and packed with so much flavor. Of course on a seeded roll. “It was the cutest little pizzeria. The tables all had tablecloths on them and flowers that were fresh. The waitresses were attentive, and the food came out so quickly. Now live in Key West for last 30 years but specifically make sure each time I come up to see family I go to Villa Di Roma, clams casino, asparagus, gravy and the people there that run it all family. “Thank heavens for Colonial Beach Local Foodie’s referral. Meet a gentleman at Thousand Trails resort just outside of Colonial Beach Va. that had a thick Upstate NY accent. We preceded to reminisce about family in Upstate NY,, of course food rolled into the conversation,. That’s how I came across Nonna Lena’s Italian Cuisine. I stopped by the restaurant by myself a couple of later.. Thought I’d get a quick lunch fix. Wrong! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I the chief my plate of Eggplant Parmesan. What a wonderful freshly made dinner (plus leftovers for 2 extra meals). The staff all were very friendly. Chiefly came out to see how I liked my meal. He shared some details about the newly open restaurant & homemade recipes, etc. He mentioned breakfast was also served and somehow in the conversation he decided to send me home with a sample of sausages & gravy along with my husbands meal. OMGoodness, the next day my breakfast was fantastic. Foodie’s note. Their food is prepared fresh from scratch daily😊. Don’t past by Colonial Beach Va. without dinning at Nonna Lena’s Italian several times.“

“Came in on Saturday last week for my birthday and tonight for my girlfriend’s birthday. The atmosphere is chill the views are amazing. Our servers have been engaging and knowledgeable. And the food is outstanding. Last week we did the chef’s tasting with the whole fish as the main course ($90 per person). Tonight we got the fritto misto, the eggplant and eggplant caponata, and the swordfish with green garlic for the apps. The rigatoni, spaghetti, and the trophie for the second course (pasta full plates) and the half chicken for the main course. Everything was delicious but the trophie pistachio pesto stood out as the best dish for my girlfriend and I. We finished the night with two cappuccino’s and tiramisu. It is a little pricey but worth every penny. If you’re looking for excellent food, a great atmosphere and beautiful views Irwin’s is the place. In my opinion Irwin’s and Meetinghouse in Fishtown are the two coolest restaurants in Philly.“

“Too difficult to buy a cup of coffee here, the coffee ordering set up should be in the front, not the back and why is it so dark in the back? I want to like this place but it has no vibe…just the sight of staffers running around. The Hostess always looks bored and the back is like a madhouse. It’s one of the only places to get a cup of coffee ☕ near to Rittenhouse Park but where it’s well lit, it’s a quiet upscale grocery shop but the back feels like you’ve entered a subway station at rush hour!

Not sure what the remedy is but I’d suggest that you open up the front space, remove the annoying velvet rope and stop putting “reserved” signs on all of the tables (just sit people there who want to enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes). This is a beautiful spot, but boy does it stress me out once you walk in the back.

Put on Italian music and hire some drop dead gorgeous guy or gal who knows how to convey ITALIAN WARMTH to customers!!! Every time I walk in the hostess is shy. She should be greeting guests and be IN FRONT, not planted at the podium.
