“Title: Vibrant Flavors and Atmosphere at Kokomo Caribbean RestaurantRating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Review:**Food:** At Kokomo Caribbean Restaurant, the culinary journey is a mixed bag. While the oxtail scored a moderate 5 out of 10, the red snapper fish and wings impressed with an 8 out of 10 rating each. The standout was the drink—a fruit punch with Ray and Nephew—which kicked it up to a delightful 9 out of 10.**Ambiance/Vibe:** Kokomo's ambiance is a vibrant blend of old and new Jamaican culture music, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 for its inviting atmosphere.**Service:** The service, while generally good, lacked a bit of warmth in the customer service aspect, resulting in a 6 out of 10 rating.**Atmosphere:** Kokomo offers a cozy atmosphere, perfect for capturing memories with friends and family, earning a solid 7 out of 10.**Overall:** With a vibrant atmosphere and flavorsome dishes, Kokomo Caribbean Restaurant delivers a satisfying experience, earning an overall rating of 4 out of 5.“

“We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and it was bustling. I imagine weekend brunch is a whole vibe. The ambiance inside is inviting, warm and cozy (see photos). I appreciate the artwork, photographs and decor. It speaks to the rich heritage of Harlem and specifically to the area where the restaurant is located. There’s a decent amount of seating, some tables are closer to others than I prefer. However our table was perfect for me. You can make reservations which might be a good idea. There is also a good amount of outdoor seating. Visit their website for the policy regarding time allowed at table (to be able to accommodate more customers)… seems reasonable to me.Maia took good care of us. She was friendly, attentive without being intrusive and on point. She came back and checked on us although the restaurant was bustling as mentioned previously. There is a list of specials beautifully written on their board. With so many dishes I wanted to try… I must return (maybe for one of the live music events). I was intrigued by the fusion of food from different cuisines. I ended up ordering curry chicken sandwich with salad and plantain on the side. It was a good portion. I was full without feeling overstuffed. Definitely worth a trip to Harlem to check them out.“

“Never been a fan of this chain but decided to stop by at this one today and I’m so glad I did! The staff was phenomenal and so helpful with me coming with a special needs kid in a stroller and the food was off the charts good! I’ll definitely be back at this location again ?“

“We went for brunch and got the croquetas, the tortilla cubana, and the huevos rancheros. The tortilla cubana (omelette with chorizo, manchego, and spinach) was great, but the potatoes served on the side were just ok. The huevos rancheros were good as well. The croquetas were very heavily breaded -- I would not order them again. I had the passionfruit mojito, which was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was good!“

“Jasmine's is a rare find whose delectable Caribbean cuisine caters to the body and soul. All I had to do was to find their entrance door on Restaurant Row, which magically spirited me away to a tropical paradise. In fact, the artsy decor and upbeat music brought back fun childhood memories - albeit at a different tropical shore at a different time. They were memories of listening to Harry Belafonte's calypso records on my grandfather's turntable, as well as eagerly watching Sir Viv Richards take the crease on the telly, as he chewed gum in style and make his mark in the world of gentleman's cricket. Meanwhile, the staff seemed friendly and attentive and deserved extra credit for playing their part with their colorful floral shirts and outfits. Having dismissed the young waitress twice - for a duck, so to speak, and mainly due to my undecidedness - I finally settled on the Escovitch fish entree with a little apprehension. But boy, what a pleasant surprise! The well presented fried whole red snapper covered in various peppers, onions, and a spicy vinaigrette sauce, served with jasmine rice, was oozing with flavor and deliciousness ready to dazzle the tastebuds, which it did so well. The sweet plantains made for a nice side dish as well. Every morsel of food being chewed, if I may, was like a batsman driving the ball into the stands past silly point and above deep extra cover. After a wonderful meal, it was finally time to get back to the mundane city life. However, I'm not sure if life will be mundane anymore now that I know where to look for that escape door on Restaurant Row.“

“Really great food!! Ok so first of all, those CODFISH FRITTERS?! An IMMEDIATE favorite! I could've eaten just those and been so satisfied. Also, the hot pepper shrimp were so good! I also recommend getting jerk pork spare ribs and can't forget the rice and peas. I always have to try the mac and cheese anywhere I go and it did not disappoint!! And their RUM PUNCH WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! Also, one of my friends had the classic Jamaican oxtail stew and said they LOVED IT! They had great music playing and even though it was kinda small, they make a HUGE impact. Staff was really cool as well!“

“Patrick’s Place is a nice little date night spot. It’s super small so it can feel cramped BUT the entertainment and service completely make up for the limited space. It definitely more of an intimate setting. I didn’t have the pleasure of trying the food but the drinks were great. The rum punch was authentic and you could taste the Wray and nephew, need I say more? The Jazz players and singer were really good. I would definitely come back and try the food next time. Parking is a little difficult as it’s Harlem and on the main road so just keep that in mind. There is also a $20 pp minimum“

“Went here for dinner midweek. Food was excellent. Great apps including empanadas. The beef one was exceptional. Also had a salmon crudo app which was on special. Many specials at this place. Fish is a specialty I went with halibut which came with an awesome leek based sauce. My friend had a steak and it came with an awesome sauce too. Desert was a banana bread pudding in a sugary sauce again. This place has sauce!! Service nice and friendly quite attentive. Place is big with a nice seating area downstairs as well as a private room highly recommended go check it out.“

“Food is so good, and the people tending are so nice. Everything was made fresh for us on the spot, and it was delicious. I hate going to places and for the mofongo or tostones to feel like they have been sitting there premade, so annoying. We had a chicken chimi, a pernil mofongo, cheese empanadas, a morir soñando and another shake. The chimi was perfect, the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the bread was nice and toasty, and the rest of the fillings were perfect. The mofongo was nice and moist, they also cover it with a nice bechamel sauce and the pernil was deliciously seasoned. Going back to try the reg chimi :)Pescado frito con tostones is very popular, two dif people came in and ordered it while we were sitting there. I'll have to try it too.“

“A big shout out to my best latin place in Hoboken: Chango Kitchen. Traditional yummy latin dishes. Our faves are churrasco con chimichurri (skirt steakgrilled) and ropa vieja (shredded beef). My kids loved "alfajores with dulce de leche", "tres leches" and hot chocolate with when it's cold outside. Service is warm and friendly. We can visit the place multiple times and never get tired. #supportlocal“

“Absolutely delighted by the BYOBservice at Negril Village! The flexibility to bring our own bottle made the evening exceptionally personal and relaxed. But let's talk about the real star of the show: the food. Each dish is a fiery celebration of flavor, brilliantly capturing the essence of Jamaican cuisine. The spices sing, the textures dance, and the presentation is pure art. Whether it's the jerk chicken that tantalizes with its smoky depth or the curry goat that embraces you with its rich, complex warmth, Negril Village doesn't just serve food—it delivers an experience. Heat, heart, and heritage blaze in every bite. This place is a must-visit for anyone who cherishes genuine culinary craftsmanship.“

“I've worked pretty close to this spot for yrs and never knew it existed (rarely take Broadway), my crew and I are working a job right up the street and decided to check it out. I've tried pollo guisado, carne guisado and of course pernil (I'd eat it everyday of my life if I could) and ea dish was outta this world. Empanadas, chicharron and maduro are all excellent too! The staff is always friendly, the food is always fresh/delicious/hot and the prices are more than fair. Once again...mom/pop spots reign supreme!!“

“I can't say what I had because nothing on the buffet is labeled. People who usually eat here don't need labels. If I lived in NY, I would be one of those people. I had some beef, fish, chicken, and turkey with rice, greens (probably cassava), and okra. I have nothing to complain about! There was so much more on the line but I couldn't justify eating that much food. Note that there's not much seating and what there is was full of regulars.“

“The food is delicious—the flavors clean and bright. We started with guacamole served with plantain chips and chorizo sautéed with onions. I had the skirt steak with yucca fries and dirty rice. “I literally just ordered from here; the diri djoun djoun with fried chicken and a side of macaroni au gratin…. They also gave a fresh side green salad. Out of the whole meal my favs were the fried chicken(well down like I like it) the diri djoun djoun was bomb!!! And the salad was soooo fresh and delicious. TO ME AND I SAY TO ME cause everyone’s taste buds are different I didn’t like the macaroni au gratin too much cause one it had ground beef or turkey in it hard to tell being that it was well marinated into the macaroni au gratin and also in my opinion it was a lil dry (once again this is my opinion cause some might find it to be just right, whereas I like that oily and fattening macaroni au gratin taste). But do not not order it guys cause your guys may choose to differ when it comes to the macaroni au gratin. But other than that I enjoyed the food. Been a while since I had haiatian food that actually taste like Haitian food. Oh ye the ambiance is to die for fancy and upscale AF!!!! Definitely got themselves a loyal customer! ♥️“

“What a great place... Every time I go it's like I enter a store in Colombia for a moment, you breathe Colombian air! The people who serve are very friendly (there is a boy who always has a smile for the customers), I love the food they sell there, ufff it is delicious!!!!I go very often to buy cheese bread, the 9 am type is warm and super spongy. I really want to congratulate the staff for doing their job very well.PS: It's incredible but every time I go to the market Colombian music plays: cumbia, salsa, merengue, etc., good for that! My only small recommendation is to turn down the music a little since sometimes it sounds very loud.“

I'm not usually a persons who likes fat on their meat, but they cook and season it so well that u can't help to clean the bone. Mac & cheese is so good and the yams are so sweet! Love a sweet & savory combo. That tea was sweet & refreshing. They were out of the potatoes and chickpeas which was great last time so next time! Such a staple when touchdown.“

“Authentic West African food and delicious. This is a rare find in Bergen County plus there's a market next door that also has Caribbean and West African items you'd have to go to NYC to find or farther out in New Jersey. “Las' Lap has a nice vibe to it. The downstairs has about 2 decent size tables and then I believe 2 side tables that seat 1-2 persons along with the bar. It can get kind of cozy in there, but they do have an upstairs seating area. I've visited various Caribbean food spots in the city and although this doesn't make my top restaurants list it's still a decent restaurant. The jerk chicken egg rolls were def my favorite and soO delicious. 5/5! I could go there and eat those alone with a delicious cocktail. The jerk chicken was also not bad, but I do wish that it had a bit more spice and flavor. The rice and beans were okay and felt as if they had been sitting out for a while (room temp) Overall, I think it's a nice place to stop by to have a few cocktails and apps before heading elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend coming with a big group as the place is quite small around the bar area. The staff is also friendly and the music was a vibe.“

“I got a pick up tonight. I think there was a sudden onslaught of orders and they weren’t prepared for it so it took a bit longer. I think that might also mean they prep everything fresh. The food was worth the wait though. Got the yard fowl pepper chicken and it was delicious and tender. The lemonade was fresh. The owner was kind enough to give a bottle complementary for the longer wait. Thank you for that! I would come back and order again from the store.“

“Came here on a Thurs late morning/early afternoon. We were greeted and served by the owner, what a pleasure. The ginger tea was AMAZING, large slices of ginger were served in the cutest personal size carafes which made the tea nice and STRONG. I’m not a big grits fan but these were delicious coming from a non grits fan. Will definitely come again!“
“The vegan patty selection was surprisingly delicious. The coco bread was soft and buttery just like my favorite patty shop in Jamaica.
