“Every time I’ve been to Maguro Sushi House in Rochelle Park, the sushi is absolutely delicious. Fresh, made right there on the spot, and full of flavor, it’s the kind of place that just feels good. If you’re a sushi lover, this is the place to go. And if you’ve never tried sushi before, you’ve got to make this your go to spot!

The wonderful owner and friendly staff make you feel right at home in their clean, welcoming space. There are so many delicious options to choose from, and everything is so fresh and satisfying. Whether it’s a cozy lunch or a fun takeout night, it never disappoints. You can’t let this one pass you by, warm, heartfelt, and truly a great experience for everyone. Highly recommend!

“Overall, we had a very good dining experience. The food was delicious, especially the steak — it was flavorful, cooked very well, and the portion size was generous and very satisfying. The chicken was also very good. The butter served with the bread was absolutely delicious and a great touch. The asparagus served with the steak was also very well prepared and complemented the dish nicely.

The only disappointment was the potato; I felt it could have been more flavorful and better prepared.

Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the restroom. It was very dirty, and someone had clearly vomited in the sink area, but it had not been cleaned. For a restaurant of this quality, this was not acceptable and did not match the overall experience. I hope more attention can be given to hygiene and cleanliness.

We also called ahead to make a reservation, but we were told that due to the restaurant being full, we needed to come in person and put our name on the waiting list. We did that, but we ended up waiting more than 40 minutes before being seated. I understand that busy times happen, but the waiting process could be managed in a more organized way.

The food quality was great, but I believe there are areas where the restaurant can improve, especially regarding cleanliness and guest experience. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration.“

“We had a family luncheon on Fathers Day or 18 people 12 adults, 6 children under 17. Restaurant had a pleasant, clean atmosphere, staff was friendly, courteous and attentive, and there was something on the menu for everyone..from appetizers, salads and pizzas to full dinner choices. “This is what we call “fine dining.” We did not reserve the main dining room, as one of our party did not care for prix fixe. We opted for the lounge as you can have from the menu or prix fixe. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a pleasant hat/coat check lady. We arrived early and said we would wait for the other couple and were invited to wait in the intimate cocktail area. The cocktails were superb and served with a house-made cocktail snack. When the guests of the party arrived, we were escorted to the lounge area. An intimate area with about six to eight tables. After being seated and greeted by the head server (maître d' or captain), who explained our options, we all opted for the menu. After looking at all the choices, we decided to split two appetizers. Even though the number of items on each choice was uneven, the server said, “Let me take care of it". And then beautifully presented plates arrived with equal portions. And it only got better from there. The entrées were each explained in detail, including their origins and how they were prepared. I could go on and on. The fish, beef, duck breast, and pork were everything we expected and more. We all commented, maybe the best we have had. The house made desserts were perfect. I had possibly the best cheese plate I have ever had. The entire staff of servers were professionals and enhanced the evening. The most disappointing part of the evening was when a guest entering the dining room (after removing his overcoat) came in dressed in Dockers and a short-sleeve polo. This is an insult to the owner, the chef, and the entire staff at this fine restaurant. But maybe he was an elite or a “special” person. We all said we would be back.“

“This is such a cute place and the food was delicious! I came here for dinner with a friend and I got the Crispy and Spicy Sesame Chicken Donburi which was divine. The decor inside is super cute and cozy plus the service is excellent — they were so welcoming and efficient. Didn’t try the ramen this time but my friend did and it looked amazing. I will absolutely be coming back so maybe next time! Anyways, definitely recommend if you’re in the area“

“A calm and pleasant spot for lunch.

I came during the afternoon and the place was quiet.
The staff was very friendly and even asked how the meal was at the end.
Note: It’s self-service.

Food: The hand-pulled noodles and broth were fresh and excellent.
The fried side dish was crispy and flavorful.
Drink: The iced black tea with mango was light and very refreshing.
Tip: As you can see in the video - the portions are very generous.
I recommend ordering a small size because I couldn’t finish it.

Seating: I sat by the window facing the street. It was nice to eat and watch Broadway at the same time.
There’s also an inner bar table closer to the kitchen.
The place is clean and the surrounding area feels calm and safe.

Price: Very affordable and filling.
This was my first time trying authentic Chinese food and I was pleasantly surprised.
Highly recommend and worth saving for a real local meal.“

“This place is truly a hole in the wall! In the best way! My son recommended us this Italian wine bar with real candles, lighting the entire restaurant and with a very romantic ambience upstairs! The food was phenomenal, our waiter was friendly and the wait staff was quick! I must say the hostess was a bit distracted when we arrived, while she was sitting on a table by the entrance on her phone. I think that looks unprofessional for “the face” of the restaurant. “I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. “After reading the reviews, decided to try the lemon grass pork banh mi, lemon grass pork bun, nem and summer rolls. The pork was so flavorful and tender and there was lots of it in the sandwich and bun. Our appetizers were also delicious, 4 in each order. And yes, the bread was soft BUT we loved it. The pickled vegetables were on point and the banh mi was loaded with yummy cilantro. Prices were also reasonable. Only thing that we felt was missing: pickled daikon radish. Definitely worth a return visit!“
