I ordered a few cakes this year, decided to trust that they would be good because I am a spoiled NYer when it comes to baked goods. Not only were the cakes and cookies for small occasions delicious and moist, they were beautiful and they will wven customize smaller cakes. Today topped the cake for me haha.... I ordered a cake a week in advance and paid a small cash deposit. I picked out the flavors and fillings and gave an idea of what I wanted my cake to look like. Well, when I tell you they replicated what I wanted and I was more than pleased they even ordered the animation for the top ....I am so happy that I have this place as a savior to my taste buds when I need a good sweet. It is a decent price considering the quality is on point and the animation too!!“

“The desserts and coffee at Pastry Lu are absolutely delicious and high quality. Over Thanksgiving, I enjoyed their apple pie which was magnificent and addictive. They always welcome you with a polite smile and when you look at all their desserts and pastries, you have to take your time because it’s hard to choose. You owe it to yourself to sit and eat your tasty delight there. They present your food and coffee in a beautiful wooden tray. It’s elegant and relaxing. I sat there today and felt as if I was in a European café. I had the strawberry cheesecake which was divine and the Mighty Mocha Hot Chocolate (a combo of coffee and hot chocolate). I added whip cream and fell in love with it. I’ll be going back. I had to refrain from getting two in a row. But this place is worth any extra holiday calories. I adore this bakery and am happy it’s in town. Also a great place to get a coffee or pastry on your way to the train since it’s right by NJ Transit. It’s perfect.“

Not only was the Cake made to how I had described, flavor and design. It was done inspite of a last minute request, to the perfection how I wanted it.

“This was my first time having a mochinut and it was absolutely delightful!!! Their taro mochinut has been my favorite flavor so far. The texture is sooo good. It's both chewy like mochi and doughy like a donut, the perfect mixture of both! Not too heavy and not too sweet. And their variety of flavors is amazing and unique! “Wheelchair accessibility: Mostly accessible storefront. The curb cut to get on the side walk is a little steep, so beware of that. The door is not automatic, but does easily open, so you may be able to make it work. Entrance is flush with the concrete, the inside of the store is flat, with standing tables that would fit a wheelchair under. The counter and payment device is low enough that a wheelchair user can be seen, and pay without struggle.“

But one issue, although yes I used to work in retail and i understand that people work long hours and deals with customers all day long. And i completely understand what is it like to be in their shoes.
But I noticed that two of male cashiers (9/20/24). They don’t seem that friendly with me. I’m not saying it has to be all sunshine and rainbows and for them to be all smiley or whatever lol. But still, I was friendly with them when I paid for my things at the register and they looked at me as if they were annoyed by me. Again understanding that they were tired and worked hard and I do appreciate all of them for their hard work to provide best customer service! But still they need to practice being just a bit more friendlier ? !

“The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Service can be a tad iffy at times. They'll offer you cilantro sauce with the empanadas but not tell you it's $0.50. You ask for an egg with waffles, they give you two (and charge for two just to be clear). I wish that they were a little more clear about that kind of stuff.

The food really does make up for it though. Everything is super fresh, well made and seasoned. The empanadas give Division Street Cafe a run for their money. The waffles are proper waffles, not the Belgian ones everyone else has, and it's all just vibrant. The decor is really fun, and the people who work there are friendly. The price can be a bit nuts. Both times I've gone it's cost us $50 to feed two people, with one entree each, a drink for one of us, and a single empanada. That's a lot. The desserts are $10 each which is a bit nuts. I know everyone is charging a lot nowadays, but I don't have to be happy about it.“
