“Roswell, NM is a favorite stopping point for travelers searching for aliens, bats, migratory birds, and caves. This writer came for baseball at the New Mexico Military Institute. And, as I typically do, I searched out the best local barbecue flavors. La Sierra Mesquite Smoked Bbq warmed this Texan's heart. Housed in a converted drive-in diner, La Sierra's hosts are kind and welcoming. I enjoyed the eclectic bbq-themed decor and down-home atmosphere. But the star of the show was the mesquite smoked meats. The brisket had a nice characteristic mesquite 'bite' of flavor in the crust and needed no sauce. Very tender and colorful. The large (silver-dollar diameter) smoked sausages were mild but carried the smoke flavor throughout the entire profile of the meat. Perhaps the best surprise was pork. This was one of the most consistent and tender pork butts I have ever tasted. As for sides, the potato salad was excellent (even though I am not normally a fan of celery in the dish). Mac n cheese was thick, warm, and comforting. I added a little barbecue sauce to the ranch beans and they were perfect. Barbecue Unchained is pleased to recommend La Sierra Mesquite Smoked BBQ to anyone visiting southeastern New Mexico.”

“My mom and I found this jewel while traveling through Roswell. Great central location with plenty of public parking across the street. This restaurant has a very welcoming hometown atmosphere. Our waitress was very kind and answered all our questions. The star of the show was the amazing fajitas!! I dare say these are some of the best I have ever had. The flavor was out of this world! My mom is a pretty picky eater but she ate every bite of her stuffed sopaipilla. The chips and salsa were delicious as well. We will definitely be back the next time we travel to Roswell.”

“Hearty Chili is new on the menu so I decided to try it. DEFINITELY does not look ANYTHING remotely close the picture. All it is, is watered down hotdog chili with a few onion and beans thrown in. $2.49 for 8oz (probably less)! My cup was only half full. Very sad! Back to Wendy’s I go! Sonic is ok. Staff (at this time) is proficient and courteous.”

“My husband and I came by for a late lunch after a medical procedure. I hadn’t eaten in two days and my nurse recommend this cafe. I was loopy and struggled with the word Tampiqueno! The server was patient and polite. The food was out of this world and the coffee so delicious, no cream necessary. We arrived at 2. They close at 3. They made us a fresh pot of coffee. All the food was fresh and flavorful. Im dreaming of the next trip to Roswell just to dine here again.”

“We were traveling from AZ to OK! Had been on the road since 3:30 a.m. I went on line to see about a good restaurant and found this one! The closed sign was up, but we didn’t see it! They seated up anyway! ? Martha was a very, very good waitress and was so nice! Made our lunch very special! We only come thru once a year, but we will be back! Chips and salsa were the best we’ve ever had followed by taco salad and quesadillas! Servings were very generous and we had quesadillas to take with us!”

We would highly recommend this restaurant and will return when we come back to Roswell.”

“The food is excellent, and the service is wonderful! We never have to wait. The staff is really nice and they always remember that we like extra wasabi with our sushi, and that one of us prefers onion soup over miso. The fried rice has the best flavor of any we have had.
I highly recommend everybody try A & J Hibachi. You won't be disappointed.”

It is near the airport so on top of good food it is super convenient for the air races. Prices seem very cheap but that may be because I am in an overpriced area. Highly recommend for breakfast on the go.”

“Server was very polite but seemed to be the only server, she asked her manager, Chris for help to which he walked away with her following him saying she needed help. She was overwhelmed but very polite and professional. A blonde girl came out with a cart and started cleaning tables and helping the girl, the manager came out of the back with another cart and saw the girl cleaning tables and asked our server why she was on the floor, the manager went to the girl and told her something and she walked away to the other side of the restaurant. I'm not sure why our server had to ask another girl, (whom I'm pretty sure worked at a restaurant because she was cleaning the tables like she knew what she was doing) instead of the manager just helping her instead of going to the back and not helping her”

“I never really go there because the linens wraps around the building. I can't find a menu, unless I get Up to the building. The staff isn't very helpful with making decisions. Would like an additional menu placed down the drive thru lane to see the options. It would be helpful for when they approach my car to take my order.”
