We dined on a weekend evening, the restaurant was quite busy, but Valerio and the team were very kind and welcoming, and they accommodated us with short waiting. The ravioli were well cooked (al dente) and tasted delicious! We also tried their tiramisu and it was spectacular! The whole time we spent there we felt as we were in Italy, definitely recommended!”

“I run the Christmas tree stand in front of the CVS and the service there is always top notch! Ciara the manager is amazing and welcoming and Chris one of the bartender is just great at what he does! The food Here is all amazing. My go to’s are the chicken sandwich and the apple cider margarita! They also play all the sports games and are very accommodating! If you’re looking for a good spot for drinks and a bit of socializing this is the spot. They have activities going on weekly!”

“This was the warm Italian hug I was wanting on our recent trip to NY. We were at the MOMI down the street, and had made reservations for dinner at Sac's after the museum. We had tired, hungry tummies, and were a good hour from our original reservation time. The good people over at Sac's accommodated my family immediately, and with pleasure! The atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, inviting, and straight up authentic..this coming from a Sicilian girl with olive oil in her veins. My family ordered a variety of dishes, each one spectacular! 2 different pizza's, fried zucchini, sausage, and the BEST shrimp scampi I have ever eaten! The staff treated us like family, and were super attentive, anticipating our needs, and not missing a beat. At the end of our meal, Domenico Sacramone, one of the owners came by our table to chat, it was lovely and greatly appreciated! That's the extra touch of love, and attention someone who really cares about their business, and their customers puts out! It was genuine, and made the experience that much better! If we were locals, this would be our weekly dinner spot! Thank you to all over at Sac's Place for a wonderful meal, and a fantastic dining experience! We will most definitely be back”

“There is no lack of Souvlaki restaurants in NYC, let alone Astoria, but Christos Souvlaki Stand stands out.

Your basic choices (as I understand them) are- skewer, sandwich, or platter. Then you choose chicken or pork. While your order is being assembled, a couple of additional questions: hot sauce (say yes, it’s not that hot), BBQ sauce (say yes, it’s not what you think), and “everything”? (Also say yes, as this includes Tatziki, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.

I ordered a fantastic pork souvlaki sandwich (with all of the above). The pork had just the right amount of char and smoke from their natural charcoal, but it was still juicy and tender. The fresh pita became a sponge for all the delicious juice that needed a home before my belly. I had to take it home, but you can see its ample size. In total, I think it was $7!

If you need to get on the subway to come here, do it. It’s totally worth it.”

And I asked for a tarama -my starting point for any Greek meal and lemon potatoes, another favorite of mine. The veal was tender and delicious and tarama along with warm bread was very tasty. Gregory's Corner is perhaps one the best small taverna in Astoria. What they lack in choices on the menu, they make up in service. The waitress who took our order was really on point and gave us solid recommendations. Gregory's is a nice cozy spot with a truly Mediterranean feel. The tables are well-spaced, and the decor is bright and breezy. Outside the restaurant is a little hard to make out up the street and is covered with too much foliage. The entrance is not clearly marked. Inside you can hear the waitress and owner arguing and speaking in Greek. It got a little intence at times, but was fun”

The jerk chicken is the most authentic dish I’ve had here in NY compared to having it in Jamaica and I have tried multiple places here looking for that Jamaican touch so that says a lot! The sides my husband and I got were the rice, mac & cheese & sweet potatoes both times. I cannot even begin to explain how good it was.

“It has become my favorite place to go for coffee in Astoria. My go-to coffee is Jubani - medium, light roast coffee, and coffee husks with cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. I usually get it with honey instead of sugar. I typically like spiced flavor teas and coffee; thus, I end up loving the taste of Jubani too.

If you don’t like the taste of coffee husks and are looking for something stronger, then you can try Sana’ani.
The best part is that neither Jubani nor Sana’ani comes with milk; making it perfect for people like us who are lactose intolerant. There are other coffees without milk or cream but I didn’t try them yet.

Another three must-try items from the menu are Khaliat Alnahl, Pistachio Milk Cake, and Feta Spinach. All three of them are delectable, particularly the Pistachio Milk Cake. (Took Lactaid Supplements before having them 😋). The Feta Spinach was flaky, light, and delicious. It perfectly pairs with a small pot of Jubani.

I had also tried the Basbousa but was slightly disappointed with the taste as it wasn’t moist and flavorful like a typical Basbousa that I had tried before in other places.”

“Fresh Bowl & Go lives up to its name with a wide selection of fresh, flavorful ingredients and consistently friendly service. I’ve visited a couple of times for lunch, and the food is always well-stocked and clearly prepared with care. The variety of proteins, toppings, dressings, and sides makes it easy to customize your meal.

That said, while each individual ingredient tastes great, the overall combinations sometimes fall short in terms of flavor cohesion. On my most recent visit, I tried to put together a Mexican-style bowl with rice, beans, chicken, pico, mango salsa, guacamole, lettuce, corn, and cheese. While most ingredients were available, the only bean option was baked beans, and the dressings leaned more toward Asian-inspired flavors—no traditional Mexican-style salsa or sauce in sight. I ended up choosing a spicy mayo, which tasted good, but didn’t quite match the flavor profile I was going for.

The restaurant operates on a fully “build-your-own” model for bowls, burritos, and salads, which offers great flexibility—but may also be why some combinations feel a bit disjointed. It might be worth considering a few curated options or flavor-themed pairings (e.g., Mexican-inspired, Asian-fusion, Mediterranean-style) to guide customers toward more cohesive meals.

Overall, Fresh Bowl & Go offers quality ingredients and a customizable experience, but a little more attention to how flavors come together could elevate the dining experience even further.”
