“Walked into this place on a whim because the ratings were so good. I was not disappointed. Every piece of fish was super fresh and delicious. You could tell the chef was excited about his craft and very knowledgeable. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The chared otoro was a highlight as well as the engawa.
I was a little worried that it would be overpriced but I'd gladly pay again.“

“It was a great experience all around! We loved the coconut shrimp and the tuna avocado rolls. I've sat at the bar, and the tables, and the bar was great, just wish it was a little deeper. The whole restaurant is gluten-free, which is wonderful if you are going with anyone with celiac or gluten allergies.“

“Super high quality and so grateful it's in the LIC neighborhood! DEFINITELY recommended. The experience is intimate, with seating for about 10-12 in front of the chefs, but with tables in the back as well for a la carte dining. We were seated next to friendly folks so instantly had a fun connection during dinner and the staff was extremely attentive and professional throughout. The seafood was unbelievably fresh and delicious. My personal favorites were the O'Toro and the King Salmon but the Nigiri was up there as were all the tuna options. In short - all SO GOOD. Topped off with dessert, our 15 and 18 course omakase experience at Kaiyo was well worth it and had us content and happy.“

“Server Xin from Sushi Gama has set a high standard for restaurants in the East Side area! Our server, Xin, was the best part of our experience. Xin displayed wonderful customer service and is by far the best server we've ever encountered. A big shout-out to Xin! He was a wonderful waiter because he provided amazing service and was very attentive. He kept changing out any dirty plates without us even having to ask. We would definitely come back for him!“

“First I saw the little beings in the edge of the window. Then, above them, bulbs that looked like rocks, floating mid air, dimmed, perfect✨
I wasn’t sure it was still open but my Joshua went on to see if we could have a little dessert at this Japanese haven-the answer was yes 🙌🏻
From the whimsically intentional decor, to the atmosphere that filled the room, the warmth and wonder was everywhere. And we were the only two people in there. Just a few sashimis and then one Kumamoto oyster for me. What a delight! Their fish was exquisite-just as the exuberant expression of when you’re feeling elated “fresh as a fish” goes. The oyster balanced originality with tradition in a complex, yet accessible unraveling to the palette, where your mind can find each of the ingredients meet each other and dance. The creaminess of Kumamoto really allows interesting alloys because of its texture. As I am writing all this, I do remember one more texture. The texture of the rim of the tea cups they served us a delicious Oolang in. Not only it looks like its own little ceramic pastry, but when you would bring it to your lips-Oh! What a triumph of design. Not only it tasted serenely warm, but it felt so luxurious on the lips-even a bit osé if I may 😋
The owner stayed with us after closing, telling us about how him and his wife open this gem in Greenpoint some time ago & how much love and precision they put into it. You can see their eye in every little corner of the place. From wonder to smiles, my eyes wandered softly the whole time we were there. How LUCKY 🍀 we were to have been in a place of excellence. Where taste met design, where they swayed along with sweetness & wits, creating a unique corner for you to feel what is the symbiosis of yin and yang ✨🙌🏻🍃✨🍂🪁🙏🏻
For all lovers of deep & quiet “wow”s…
Thank you 🤩🤗🥳

“My wife and I went to Sushi Jin last night for the first time. It was wonderful on all fronts - the space, the vibe, the freshness, the omakase selections, the assembly, the presentation, and of course, the taste (oishii!). Really good sake, too. Chef Tachikawa took great care of us- he was friendly, gracious, and way capable. Our server (everything else but the sushi), Jean, was also fantastic. We walked out of there satisfied & very happy and thought it was the perfect dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to our next visit.“

“We recently celebrated one of dearest friends birthday here and it was amazing. The ambiance is very nice, calm, private which allow us to catch up with our friends. The food is very authentic, and the drinks are very well crafted. Food and drinks tastes as good as it looks!. The staff's service were beyond expectations... Yangi, she was so attentive! I dropped my chopsticks, didn't expect anyone to notice but, she rush to give me a new set within a second. If you're looking for a good atmosphere, authentic vietnamese fresh food, and great service, definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed.“
“Had a really nice experience at Ikyu Sushi II. The first time we tried it was takeout, and honestly, we weren’t impressed—it just didn’t travel well and felt a bit underwhelming. But we decided to give it another shot as every time we walked past this restaurant, it was always busy and the inside looks beautiful. We decided to dine in, and we’re really glad we did. The difference was noticeable. Everything tasted fresher, more vibrant, and thoughtfully prepared. The fish quality really stood out, and the presentation was much better than what we experienced with takeout. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the overall atmosphere made it a much more enjoyable meal. We sat at a booth which gave us some nice privacy to catch up and chat. Definitely one of those spots where dining in makes all the difference—we’ll absolutely be back, as we really enjoyed our experience there.“
“This is my first time here all the way from Newtown, Connecticut, and it Definitely did not disappoint. The atmosphere, the food, and of course, the wonderful service. Aymaan Was our server, and I’ve eaten at many restaurants and this is by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. He was on top of everything, and treated us with tons of respect. I asked him multiple questions and he was able to answer them at the top of his head. A very kind, hard-working young man.“

“High food quality. I ordered different food for takeout several times and they never disappointed me. Chicken bento surprised me as the chicken is crispy after I brought it home. The server was very nice. The restaurant itself is a little small but I usually order takeout so it doesn't affect me.“

“This place has the potential of being staple in the harlem neighborhood. It more of Americanized Japanese food that they serve. Which is not a bad thing, this is good place if you want something different but still stay in the familiarity of dishes. Their prices are very fairand give good portion sizes. I will recommend for you to come try it if you never been. It's definitely a place to go for lunch or picking up something quick.“

“It's pretty nice inside and I like the massive selection that you can choose from. Definitely cool for hanging with friends or a casual date because the vibe is pretty chill. “My second visit. They haven't disappoint. Around two years ago I ordered the standard omakase, and today the 15-piece. The quality is consistent. The seasoning is unique and creates the umami flavor. I wonder whether they also age the fish. It is a small shop but I can feel the effort and bar they uphold. This will be on my sushi to-go list in NYC.“

“My boyfriend and I dined here back in September 2025, and it was nothing short of an outstanding, professional experience. The fish quality was thoroughly impressive--unique dishes with variety and such freshness to every piece. We let them know we were celebrating a special occasion, and outside of our personalized interactions with the chef, they provided us with an extra course to celebrate. Such a great experience, and I will definitely be back for more!“

“The loveliest decor, most delicious food and kindest service. I love coming here and brought my cousin for a celebration.
The regular omakase was superb. The chef created nigiri that had interesting flavor notes (yuzu and others), expertly prepared rice, and divine fish. More than one piece of fish seemed to melt on the tongue rather than needing to be chewed.
My cousin said that it was an out of body experience. I agreed, and then we added two types of hand rolls (snow crab with tobiko and plain scallop). The crispness of the toasted nori heightened the delicate fillings and again, the rice is so much more than an afterthought: I am still thinking about it.
I can’t remember the exact order of the arrival of the miso shrimp soup and omelet, but everything heightened the experience further. The miso soup and balanced sweetness in the omelet showed that no detail is too small for the elegance of the meal. My one regret was not finishing the soup, but the sheer volume we had eaten was at lot by that point!
We also enjoyed two different teas, warming our hands on the beautiful cups as we came in from the cold: one with dinner and another with dessert, which we ended up ordering so we could linger a bit longer in the moment. The desserts were phenomenal, especially the grape sorbet. In addition, I usually get uncomfortable on bar stools, but these are so comfortably designed that time passed without my noticing.
While you can get takeout, you are missing out on the warmth of the people at Noz Market and a sublime sensory experience created by a team that truly cares about your learning and enjoying yourself. It is not to be missed.“

“Staff are very nice! Fish portions feel a little small but presentation was fantastic. The shrimp + uni, scallop, miso fish (don't remember what it was called), and oyster to start was the best. Very nice of them to give us a mochi dessert on the house at the end! Only other con was that the food court got a little loud at the end.“

“I’ve loved this place for years, but I just catered from them for the first time, and everything was perfect. The sushi was delicious, they kept the sushi with gluten in a separate container, they have party platters and party trays, and they sold me the perfect amount of food without being pressured to buy too much. The price was reasonable- actually incredible considering how delicious everything was, and everything came on time. I will definitely cater from them again.“

“Dining at Sushi Noz was the closest I’ve ever felt to being transported straight into Japan—without leaving New York. The experience begins the moment you step inside: the serene wooden interiors, the scent of hinoki, the quiet choreography of the chef—it all feels like a ritual. Every piece of sushi is a quiet explosion of depth and precision. The uni from Hokkaido melts like oceanic custard, the toro is indulgent without being heavy, and the tamago at the end? Honestly brought me close to tears. It’s not just sushi—it’s an edible poem written with the seasons. Yes, it’s expensive. But every bite justifies the cost.“

“Went to TORA NYC recently and decided to order takeout, but even from that short experience the hospitality stood out. While we were waiting, they offered us water and were really welcoming, which already left a good impression. The space itself looks beautiful modern, intimate, and definitely feels like the kind of place that would make a really nice date spot.
We ordered three dishes: the Yokan Roll, Negichutoro Don, and Gyudon.
The Yokan Roll was a really nice example of how modern sushi rolls balance texture and richness. Inside was spicy salmon and cucumber, and it was topped with lightly seared salmon, mentaiko sauce, tempura flakes, and tobiko. The seared salmon added a gentle smokiness while still keeping that soft buttery texture salmon naturally has. The mentaiko sauce, made from seasoned pollock roe that’s widely used in Japanese cuisine, brought a creamy, briny umami flavor that paired really well with the fish. Tobiko added those signature little bursts of saltiness, and the tempura flakes gave a light crunch that balanced the richness of the sauce and salmon. It was a well constructed roll where each topping actually had a purpose.
We also got the Negichutoro Don, which had minced medium fatty bluefin tuna over rice. In sushi terminology, tuna is categorized by fat content akami being lean, chutoro the medium fatty section, and otoro the richest cut from the belly. Chutoro tends to be the sweet spot because it has enough fat to be buttery while still keeping that clean ocean flavor. The texture here was incredibly soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth. Negitoro as a dish traditionally mixes minced tuna with scallions, since the word “negi” literally means scallion. The tuna quality here was great and the texture was amazing, but I do think it could be elevated slightly. If the scallions were minced and mixed into the toro instead of sitting on top it would distribute the flavor more evenly. A little shredded nori could add some aroma from the sea, and honestly avocado would pair really nicely with the richness of the tuna.
The Gyudon was probably the most comforting dish we ordered. Gyudon has a long history in Japan and became popular in the late 19th century as a quick, affordable rice bowl. Thinly sliced beef is simmered in a sweet savory broth that’s very similar to sukiyaki sauce, usually made with soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sometimes dashi. The beef absorbs that slightly sweet umami flavor as it cooks. Here it was served over rice with scallions, sesame seeds, and an onsen egg. Once everything was mixed together, the egg yolk coated the rice and beef and brought everything together. The sauce, beef, and egg created that rich silky texture that makes gyudon such a comforting dish.
Even though we only ordered takeout, that level of service was noticeable.
Overall the food was really good and thoughtfully prepared. The fish quality was great, the bowls were comforting, and the hospitality stood out even in a quick takeout experience. The restaurant itself looks like a really nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal, so we’ll definitely be coming back to dine in next time.“

“Ordered chicken teriyaki lunch special. It was made fresh as I could hear the meat sizzling in the back and the wait didn't take too long (around 10-15 minutes).
The restaurant environment wasn't too great but I figured this is the kinda spot you order takeout from and, in that case, it's adequate for takeout. The chicken looks moist and well-sauced. The roll looks well-made with no browning on the avocado. Miso soup is comforting to have with chicken teriyaki over rice.
I have no complaints. 8.5/10
Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options like tofu teriyaki
Wheelchair accessibility: On first floor, no steps.“
