“Went there for st. Patrick’s day. Couldn’t be more pleased. We had a reservation and got seated immediately. Service was fast and friendly and the food was out of this world. I think I’d sell my soul for more sticky toffee pudding. If you want an idea of their service I watched a man straight up slap a glass of beer out of the waitresses hands (he was a hand talker and it was an accident) and into the wall. She was super kind about it and someone (a manger or owner) came over and immediately changed out everything and cleaned everything up while the server got a new beer. Everyone was kind and quick about it and had I not happened to catch it out of the corner of my eye. they were so discrete Idt I would have. As a table we tried the Sheppards fries, the corned beef and cabbage, corned beef sandwich and sticky toffee pudding and all were incredible. Definitely will be back!“

“The beef on weck was on point! The 9 ounce was so freaking delicious and the seasonings on the roll were absolutely perfect! Also the beef was perfectly tender as it should be and the horseradish was absolutely fabulous. Not too overpowering like it sometimes can be at other establishments but also the perfect amount of runnyness to it where it spread its flavor out evenly over the perfectly prepared roast beef.“

“I was surprised how much I enjoyed this dive bar. The Pink was my usual scene, but a friend asked me to meet them at Founding Fathers for a drink, and we had a great time. Everyone was welcoming, very warm and friendly atmosphere. Gives a cozy local diner vibe, but a bar.

That was a few years ago, I’ve been considering going back recently. I’m sure it’s exactly the same! Lol. This time I want to try the food!“

“Essex is one of those places where you could go every night and still bump into different people. I mean it has its regulars and you’ll see a lot of familiar faces, but it has a kind of charm about it that only a place like Essex can have. It’s where those of us who miss the Pink and Brick bar go when we wanna same misfits we all know and love. I met one of my best friends here. The drinks are always good and the bartenders are always on it. A the food is surprisingly good!“

“Enjoyed our visit to this old time neighborhood pub on Wing Wednesday. We had a short wait at the bar for a table of 5 and added a chair for an unexpected 6th. So many options for wings! All the sauces were flavorable. Our server made us feel right at home even though we had never been there before. You could tell this place has alot of regulars. Bartender We was friendly. “Everytime I go here the food, drinks and atmosphere are amazing. I figured I’d take the time to finally make a review because last night we had such an awesome interaction with staff. There was a slight miscommunication that led to a delay in food. We were having so much fun that we didn’t even notice, but the staff were apologetic and kind in getting it to us.

“It's a quintessential dive bar. Not a big selection of hard liquor or beers but the essentials are there. The food menu wasn't too big either. Sadly they are a CASH ONLY place but the bartenders are great and on the ball with everything.“

“Must have gone through a remodel its kind of boring inside but food is great. Caribbean music with bat menu, local eats added and some seafood. I had the shrimp it was fantastic, (some of the best I've ever had) my date had a sub that was also amazing. The portions are nice a big to. A service was a little slow but that's okay it gave us time to talk.“
