Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard Winery •
3962 NY-14, Dundee

“Anyone that doesn't rate this winery 5 stars has no palate. I have been to Germany and visited their best (Prum, Haag, von Schubert, Kerpen and others). I know what great Riesling is. This winery hits greatness whereas others are very good, at best. There are some new wineries that show great promise but they are all vying for #2.“

Fulkerson Winery Winery • $$
5576 NY-14, Dundee

“This was a different visit. One of the reasons that we came to the area not only to celebrate another Anniversary but to pick up 300 lbs of cuyahoga white grapes to bring back home to process into wine. One thing I learned is to have bins and or something to store the grapes in. The guy helping me was friendly and helpful to help me out. Another thing I learned do not drive 6 hours for grapes, a lot of work at the end unless you have people to help you process it all when you get home. But the grapes were good and a good experience obtaining and picking them up. Simple ordering process.“

McGregor Vineyard Winery • $$$

“Great wine, great atmosphere, and the employee was very knowledgeable and helpful! My mom and I each did a wine tasting (we had to make a reservation) then joined their wine club and ordered 6 bottles because we enjoyed it so much! They have good whites that are perfect for poolside drinking and reds that are full of tannins.“

Hickory Hollow Wine Cellars Wineries • $$

“This place was a little surprise a little jewel box of a tasting room. The wines which are now blended by Nathan K or the owners son are some you should seriously try. He's trained at the best of the best and it shows. The family owned this place with a group but as time went on they went their separate ways and the family kept it for themselves but needed a winemaker and they would have one in their son. Mom and dad were there and Mom did our tasting. She was lovely and warm and we talked about a lot of wines and how things evolved. The wines are perfectly nuanced and for a serious wine drinker you can appreciate them. It's not a big spot but they have a lovely little area outside and I don't doubt they get slammed in the warmer months. It's 4.5/5 Just give them a whirl... They have parking“

“This unassuming, vibrant red building was recommended to us during a nearby tasting. If you enjoy fruit wines or sweet wines, this is definitely a place to try! It was good bang for your buck and we got to pick the 5 wines we tried. Fiancée really enjoyed the wines and we never would’ve tried it without the recommendation so I hope anyone reading this tries it too!“

“In my opinion, this winery has some of the best Chardonnay on the lake. We’ve been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. In fact, we make sure to always visit. Their Rieslings and gewürztraminers are also very good and may rival some higher end wineries on the west shore…“

“Best stop of the day. The cashier told me when I left that we’d want to come back and we’ll wish we’d have stayed. She was correct !!! Every employee was focused on everyone having a great experience. The tasting was the most enjoyable of the day. Vicky ( I believe )was terrific ! They didn’t rip you off charging only $5 a tasting unlike a lot of places around here. Plus we got $3 off two bottles. We were happy to go home with wine. We’ve stopped at 4 wineries they win so far for best employees, best tasting, best prices.“

Magnus Ridge Winery Winery •

“Really cool building! Wine tastings are a bit more money then other places but they are unique in doing the tasting along with cheese tastings. We kind of threw ourselves into that without thinking and ended up really enjoying it and went home with cheese lol. Was $30 for two tastings but was super fun. The store part is really neat with lots to see, great for gifts. The woman who did our tastings was great at her job. The tramaline 2020 wine was so good !!!“

Toast Winery Winery •
4499 NY-14, Rock Stream - 6.05 miles

“We were here looking for different wineries that we haven't tried and this place I do not remember. It has a cool logo of a flame and a winery called Toast can't be a bad thing. As I read about this winery before visiting, the owner has something in common such as me as a home wine maker, working in corporate america and working as a college professor. Wine is what relaxes me but it's a lot of hard work for sure, happy to see someone made this a dream and it's going well. We arrived inside sat at a table provided a list of wines to choose from in our tasting. Our waitress or waiter would come over and fill our glass up with a sample of our choice of wine that we wanted to try. The high falution was my favorite and purchased 3 bottles of this to go. This is a new favorite stop for us, especially how good the wine is. Cheers for a great first visit. We will be back.“

Standing Stone Vineyards Winery •
9934 NY-414, Hector - 5.37 miles

“We ended our day trip to the winery at Standing Stone. The atmosphere, wine, and costomer service were all out of this world! It was our favorite stop all day.Unfortunately, our friend driving had her car battery die while we were inside. The workers stayed nearly an hour after their closing shift to help jump our car, provide us a warm place to sit, and went above and beyond to let us know they were there to help! I think this goes to show what kind of friendly employees as well as an organic experience you can expect to have at Standing Stone. It will now be a must stop on our next trip to the winery!“

“Great little spot for delicious, reasonably priced wines. We tried the semi-flight and bought almost every one of them to take home! Liked the Tremitt so well we bought 2. The liqueurs are also QUITE good. Sweet, but tasty. Pumpkin Spice was surprisingly good and great for fall! The port has a nice cherry flavor.“

Shalestone Vineyards Winery •
9681 NY-414, Lodi - 6.04 miles

“Nice to see a lot of reds on the tasting menu but watch when you arrive at this location. Check the hours of tastings it is by reservation only and we did not have one. We arrived 45 minutes from closing without a reservation and we got the distinct vibe that they were not pleased because there was a table available in the tasting room but we were not offered it. They did agree to sell us each a glass of wine which we could enjoy outside. We didn't want to be pushy but a friend raved about their reds and we were excited to come and see what the liked about their wines. We were able to taste the red legend and even purchased two additional bottles for home. If I could give a split ratings it would be four stars for wine. 3 for service.“

Rooster Hill Vineyards Winery •

“Found ourselves in Penn Yan, randomly stopped in and it was an amazing decision. Our host with a distinctive Scottish accent was excellent. We lost track and just let him drive. We started out preference and he just started pouring - we enjoyed the ride. The only complaint I have is we weren't offered a menu with a golf pencil. The wine is fantastic, so are the ciders. My wife said it was the best cherry cider she has ever tasted. We both enjoyed the strawberry and was part of our purchase. Don't pass this place up, even consider a special trip.“

“The staff is fantastic! Not snooty like some of the other wineries on 414. The owner assisted us and determining the best wine for us. She was welcoming, informative, and incredibly sweet! This winery may not be everyone's cup of tea but they have made me a life long fan. Forever grateful that we walked thru the door and it felt like home. The wine selection is amazing and I have yet to have had a bad wine from Rasta! Highly recommend- especially if you like nostalgia from the 60's, 70's , and more!!!“

“On our recent visit to the area, my wife & I stopped in Red Newt Cellars. It came highly recommended by friends we met on our trip. Glad they did.The person who did our wine tasting did a great job. Very friendly. Explained the wines well (forgot her name). We found their wines had such a great taste. Full bodied. Many to choose from too. Sooo good! Must have been. I know I bought every wine from my tasting. I usually never do that. We bought a case and probably 3 bottles beside that.Just like other wineries in the area, tastings were very reasonable. It was very clean, and staff was very friendly. View of Lake Seneca outside was great. We would definitely make this a stop when we go back. I know we will be purchasing many bottles again!“

Ryan William Vineyard Wine Bar • $

“I really loved this winery. We decided to get food at this winery compared to the other ones in the area. The food definitely was worth it. I ended up getting the Fresh Seasonal Vegetable Quesadilla which was very good. The vegetables tasted fresh. I highly recommend their slaw (it has chipotle in it). The slaw was probably the best thing about the dish. The wine flight also came out pretty quick and all the wines were delicious.“

Catharine Valley Winery Wineries •

“Gorgeous, delicious, and amazing.I can only say good things about Catharine Valley Winery. I came by with a group of 30 of my grad school friends to celebrate a birthday (please make a reservation if you have a big group, they don't usually have so many people there) and we all had so much fun. Since we had so many people, we bought a wide variety of bottles of wine and were able to sample and share them among our group. They were all so delicious. Not only is the wine amazing, but the view is to breathtaking. There is a perfect view of Seneca Lake a few miles north of Watkins Glen and the way the sun glints off the water and the cool breeze that comes off the lake creates a very peaceful ambiance.I will definitely be back soon.“

Ravines Wine Cellars Winery • $$

“One of the best winery experiences I’ve ever had! I’ve been to multiple with girlfriends and large groups and this time I tasted solo and bright eye early as soon as they opened at 10AM on a Saturday morning. I had Ms. Carolyn all to myself for a tasting and boy was it great! I left a wine snob. She was so informative and educated on the wines, wine making and the establishment itself. She made sure to accommodate to my likings while also opening up my palette. I don’t care for reds but she explained I’m probably not drinking the right ones and she was right! I left with a bottle and wanting more! I would highly recommend visiting. Come early so you get a more intimate experience.“

“I've stopped at HWC a couple of times during work/wine trips upstate on word of mouth recommendations. The service and hospitality has always been wonderful, and I've always had great conversations with the staff. The wines are great too! As with any fuller-bodied reds in the FLX, they vary a lot from vintage to vintage, but I've had enough wonderful, age-worthy wines here that I'd always stop by and taste through the current offerings to see if there's anything I want to bring home. Wish y'all were distributed in NJ!“
