“Traveled from out of town to see a friend but also maybe mostly to eat the spicy chicken katsu that I’ve dreamt of since Mini Mart/Mama Yoshi’s used to be a pop up at All Night Skate and we would go sit outside in the cold and enjoy the food and a cocktail. Moved out of reach in 2022 and my life has not been complete without the sandwhich I’ve evangelized across several countries and continents. Thankfully as spicy or at least close to as spicy as it has always been. Thanks for keeping the quality and quantity the same and the prices really much closer than I expected. “I’ve had sushi all over America, and this is a top contender amongst the best I’ve had. The menu is on the simpler side, but don’t let that detract you from the absolute quality they deliver. The sushi rolls are larger than typical and priced very reasonable for what you get. Plus they serve warm sushi rice which not many places outside of Los Angeles do.“

“Had a fantastic dinner at Masaaki in Bayside. The $138/17-course menu is a steal – beautifully designed, great ingredients for the price. Highlights: bluefin tuna, seasonal firefly squid, and three rounds of premium Japanese sea urchin (my boyfriend was thrilled). The sushi progression makes sense, and the gold-leaf tuna with edible glitter spray is a fun touch. The chef is Chinese and super friendly – gave us great tips on handling fish. Much better than schlepping into Manhattan. Highly recommend if you’re nearby!“

“Another amazing dinner from Katsuno. Our favorite authentic Japanese restaurant in NYC came through for us once again, this time with take-out. Tonight we had the Tuna Avocado Salad, Nigiri Sushi, Pork Hirekatsu, and Tempura Udon. All served with a refreshing can of Funaguchi Kikusui Sake. Everything was fresh and delicious as always and served curbside in a safe no contact manner. Thank you Katsuno!“

“Okay, I fell in love with this spot tonight. We were looking for a place to watch the Knicks game and they had a giant TV and were playing it inside the restaurant. The owners were watching it too as they are big fans and the energy was so good, we ended up staying there until the end. We also ordered the katsu that came with dumplings and a lil avocado salad and the veggie fried rice. The food was delicious and fresh and I could tell it had been prepared with attention. The owners are Japanese/Peruvian so you know the food is excellent.“

Especially raw food. The sushi at this restaurant is quite delicious. The combination of soy sauce and rice, in addition to fresh ingredients. It is simply delicious. “I'd recommend this place ... sort of. We chose to sit on the dining side since it was only two of us and didn't want the "show". The service was friendly and good but not overly attentive. Our drinks were very good and a fair price (we had the Oceanside Zombie but without the Sprite added). We both ordered the hibachi surf and turf (lobster and filet mignon) which came with a house salad and clear soup, both of which we really enjoyed. The filet was tasty but the pieces were cut very unevenly so some pieces were medium rare and others were close to well done. The lobster tail was very small and too salty. I would not order it again. I was completely disappointed that the veggies were drowning in teriyaki sauce. There was no indication on the menu that they are served in sauce. I typically love hibachi vegetables but I hate teriyaki sauce! They reminded me more of Chinese takeout vegetables than Japanese hibachi. The fried rice was good but not the best. It came with lots of peas and I hate peas. Another disappointment but not a surprise was they don't offer hibachi mustard sauce. Like so many other places these days they offer yum yum sauce instead which we refused because, yuck yuck. They offered us some ice cream on the house (I think because the server knew I was very disappointed about the teriyaki sauce). It came to the table in little plastic cafeteria style cups with the pull back paper top. LOL. I'm glad it did though because the top listed the ingredients and let's just say, we immediately sent the ice cream back. All in all, not the greatest hibachi experience but also not the worst. I would maybe go back for drinks and try some other menu items ... and hold the teriyaki sauce!“
