“The first pie I had from John at Fenice was the Detroit Red...which Tony picked up for me last week when i was at work...i finished the whole pie by just after midnight...but I had to go for the regular NY Cheese pie fresh from the oven. We scored one of the two tables there and were able to decide which of the other slices to bring home...it was like a pizza candy store. We didn't finish our pie so brought home two slices, and I wanted to try John's sicilian, I couldn't leave there without a Detroit Red slice and Tony wanted the multi cheese white pizza...every pizza we tried was perfect! something about the dough. The sauce. The cheese. The dough for the Sicilian and the Detroit Red was light and perfectly crunchy on the bottom. Flavor out of this world. We drove from White Plains just to try Pizza Fenice. worth the trip.“

It was my first time having their pizza and it was delicious, had a magherita personal pie with arugula and wild mushrooms and the sauce to cheese ratio was perfect, the sauce was very good and the mushrooms and arugula were fresh. I completed my dinner with a glass of Malbec which complimented my meal. I will definitely return to try more of Marcello's menu.“

“Mario’s Metro Pizza completely changed what I expected from a pizzeria. We came in for a full tasting and every single dish overdelivered. The chicken scarpariello was the standout, juicy chicken smothered in a sauce with real depth, sausage and thin cut potatoes mixed in, plated like something from a sit down Italian restaurant rather than handed over a counter. The vodka rigatoni with fresh burrata was another surprise, creamy, rich, and not something you expect to find at a pizza shop. The Philly cheesesteak pizza and hot honey pepperoni with vodka sauce were both excellent as well, and the hot honey and buffalo wings are made completely from scratch in house.

Beyond the food, the hospitality stood out. The owners, two brothers with over a decade of experience in kitchens across Westchester and New York City, took over a pizzeria that had been a neighborhood staple for decades and elevated it without losing that local feel. You can tell everything is made fresh and with real care.

“Really enjoyed the takeout I ordered for delivery. The Royal Greens Salads are huge!!! I would say they're twice as big as other salads chains. I wish it was easier though to know the dietary info for the salad dressings as I could not tell which ones were vegan. I love that you can choose your own protein and swap some of the toppings or build your own. I also got the green tofu curry dish from SriPraPhai as well. The sauce was incredibly flavor and I liked the amount of kick it had. It was spicy but not too spicy for me atleast. I do wish it had more tofu in it though as it felt very sauce heavy. I would order takeout from here again especially if I was getting food with someone who wanted something different then me. I appreciate the free delivery and the amazing portion sizes. It's nice to be able to order multiple cuisines as well.“

“The vodka pasta with grilled chicken is amazing. I also tried the pesto pasta with sausage and it is just as good. The mozzarella sticks are excellent too, they come with two flavorful homemade sauces. The buffalo wings are a must-order; the sauces are perfectly balanced. Not only is their food really good, but their portions are also very generous. Their pizza is great, but I recommend giving the other items on the menu a try! The staff is also super friendly with great customer service.“

“I ended up at Patsy's after spending most of the afternoon walking around uptown and wanting something filling without feeling overly heavy. The dining room had a comfortable neighborhood feel to it. People seemed to know each other, and there was a steady rhythm of pizzas moving from the oven to tables. I ordered a classic margherita pizza first and immediately noticed how well balanced it was. The crust had a nice crisp edge while still staying light enough to fold.

I also tried a sausage pizza and a side of garlic knots. The sausage added a savory richness without overwhelming the rest of the slice, while the garlic knots came out warm and soft with just enough garlic to make them addictive. A simple Caesar salad rounded everything out and helped keep the meal from feeling too heavy.

The thing I liked most was how relaxed the experience felt. Nobody seemed to be rushing through dinner. It felt like a place where people come to enjoy a meal and stay awhile.“

For pizza, we tried the Killer Bee and the Chicken Vodka, and both were outstanding. The flavors were incredible, and you can tell they use quality ingredients.

“By far the best Italian in Astoria. Yes, it's very pricey (full on Manhattan prices) but it's a rare instance where you're paying for real quality.

Mushroom risotto with truffle was excellent, perfectly al dente, and not overpowering with the truffle. The ravioli were super delicate and definitely made fresh in house. Pricing at $32 and $38 is pretty nuts for a plate of pasta, but they were very good.

For appetizers, the calamari was clearly fresh, lightly breaded, and perfectly fried, and the meatballs were moist and tender.

Timing between the courses was great; enough time to digest and enjoy the meal with no rush.

Dessert - tiramisu and panna cotta - was fine but nothing special and overpriced at $14 a pop. I'd skip it next time.

All in all an excellent, albeit very expensive, meal and without a doubt the best Italian in Astoria.“
