“We were supposed to eat at another restaurant, Anny, but when we got there, they informed us that they would only accept cash. Yet there was no ATM. We started walking on 116th, looking for an ATM. Instead, we found this place to eat. It's a buffet style place with only one booth style table. The best thing was that the food was good and the price was right.“

“I LOVE this pretty jewel box of a Thai restaurant. It's the go to for me and my gf whenever we visit the Brooklyn Museum, or are in the mood for delicious, affordable Thai food in a lovely setting . The place is gorgeous : the walls are in deep teal with gold leaf overlay. There are chandeliers and gold candelabras with fresh flowers at the up lit bar. Fabulous for a date night but also family friendly when the sun is up. The staff are solicitous but not pushy. But the food is what truly stands out. Beautifully plated and always tasty, you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. My friend and I are both wild about the tangy roast pork with sticky rice. Sooooooo good!! And they make great cocktails. You should definitely go!!“

I ended up sitting at the bar but I didn't mind because I got great service. They even have Turkish coffee. So awesome. Everything I ate was amazing and they have vegan options. “Chun Vegetarian in Brooklyn has become one of my favorite spots, and one of the main reasons for that is their Buddha Bowl. It’s one of those dishes that I can keep coming back to without ever getting tired of it. Whenever I want something that’s hearty, fresh, and still feels good for my body, this is exactly what I order.

The Buddha Bowl is a colorful mix that hits all the right notes. It usually comes packed with kale, spinach, sweet potato, avocado, carrots, cherry tomatoes, quinoa, and fresh strawberries, and everything is tossed together with this delicious house-made sauce that I can never get enough of. The sauce is creamy, tangy, and has just the right amount of flavor to coat the ingredients without overpowering them. One container isn’t nearly enough for a bowl this size, so I always ask for extra, and they’re kind enough to give it to me with no extra charge. That’s huge, because the sauce really ties everything together and makes every bite hit.

What makes this bowl substantial is the sweet potato. It’s hearty, filling, and gives the whole dish that extra comfort factor. The sweet potato adds a natural sweetness that balances the leafy greens and makes the bowl feel complete. The avocado brings a creamy texture that smooths out the crunch from the kale and carrots, while the spinach keeps it fresh and light. The cherry tomatoes are juicy and bright, the carrots add crispness, and the strawberries bring those bursts of tart sweetness that make the whole thing unique. Whether I’ve ordered it to-go or eaten in, the quality has always been reliable.

At the end of the day, this Buddha Bowl is one of my go-to meals in Brooklyn. Between the hearty sweet potato, the fresh greens, the avocado, the strawberries, and that amazing sauce that they happily give extra of at no charge, it’s become a staple for me. Whenever I want a bowl that feels both nourishing and indulgent, Chun Vegetarian is the first place I think of.“

Both were excellent and even for the lunch special, the portion of fried rice was too much for just one person. While the service wasn't particularly great, the food and prices were excellent.“
