“A beef empanada from this cart on Austin Street was the first thing I ever ate when I moved to NYC. Y'all, it was GREAT. The local who insisted I had to grab one as we walked by absolutely knew what he was talking about. Abuela's Empanadas was my introduction to the fat-kid status that would come to describe the entire time I lived in New York City as a Midwestern transplant, lol. I still remember my eyes popping out of my head as I realized how good this was and that if this was what I was getting from a random food cart, I'd want to try every restaurant in the city.“

“Went to the brand new Houston location and things are a bit rocky with staffing and supplies but I want to brag on your employee CAMILLA ! We came from NC and after visiting Puerto Rico several times I was so excited for this experience! She was so patient with us! Answered all our questions with a very helpful and cheerful attitude even tho she was drowning in drink orders! With only one other helper, she never showed any frustration and provided excellent above and beyond customer service! The cashier with her was brand new and super sweet as well! Camilla even gave me a hug when we left! She made my whole morning! And gave us the absolute best breakfast recommendation as well! Thank u so much Camilla for your grace and kindness this morning. U had no idea that my Morning started out so crappy, and your sweet personality and loving spirit really turned my day around and the tres leches latte was AMAZING 🙌🏼🩷💯 yall go see them and be patient …..it’s worth the wait ❤️ side note… the whole place is decorated beautifully! “What an amazing specialty coffee shop here in Brooklyn. The cortado was delicious and I also got a hot chocolate for the kids. The staff were so friendly and kind. The service was extremely fast. They also were generous and gave me some extra cups to give out the hot chocolate to my kids in different cups. There is some space to sit and work or meet but the place was already pretty packed back late morning. I’d highly recommend coming here if you like good espresso and specialty coffee“

“Excellent little Cafe tucked away on a side street in Brooklyn. Run by two delightful sisters. Food was awesome and the Cappuccino. The Waffles I had were amazing with homemade batter. Definitely on my new spot of must stops in Bushwick.“

“The coffee house is chill, places to sit, wait time isn't bad at all. The staff are kind and accommodating and the prices are fair too (trust me, it's not outrageous!)

Besides that, this place host some events on Thursdays (every other Thursday, dont quote me though) and if you're new to Sunnyside I recommend it!

“A few years ago, I was hired to write a series of articles about regional Italian cuisine. Since then, I have been looking for traditional Italian gelato. Until yesterday, I have been consistently disappointed. But this? It was absolutely EVERYTHING I had dreamed about. The prices weren't ridiculous, the bathroom was PRISTINE, the staff were helpful and friendly and it was incredibly, amazingly delicious. My only complaint is that I live too far away from your stores to get it very often. But about that? My hips are less upset about the distance. :) I will definitely be back, though!“

“Best local spot in Greenpoint / Williamsburg area! The owner and baristas are extremely friendly and the atmosphere has a local laid back feel to it. My personal favorite is the iced Rocket Fuel. The flavor is smooth and it really gives me a refreshing boost when I need some extra energy“

“Small café, but very bright, clean, and airy. There was was a small loveseat, a couple barstools, one or two cafe tables with 2 seats, a bench with a cushion and 3 café tables out on the sidewalk. Came in about 1:30pm, and were greeted warmly. Almost all of the pastries were gone, but the cheese with fig danish and the plain croissant they had left were good. We also tried the matcha lemonade, strawberry matcha and a hot black sesame latte. I liked the sesame latte A LOT, the strawberry was good, and I personally hated the lemonade, but that is a personal preference thing. The good thing about it is it isn't too sweet, but it was heavy on the matcha, so it tasted like liquid grass to me. I definitely like nuttier sencha tea better. The prices were average for the area, and since everything is pricey now, it is what it is.

There were other patrons there, busily working and looked like they had been there for quite a while, which tells me it may be a good place to sit and focus for an hour or two.

My party of three sat outside and because it is located in a predominantly residential area, it was a nice place to sit since there aren't tons of pedestrians. There were a few bees/wasps though, so we had to leave after a bit(highly allergic). There were also mosquitos and lantern bugs around--I suspect there is some standing water on a roof nearby.

I will definitely walk over here again to get that sesame latte, and maybe stay and pretend looking productive. But I'll definitely come back.“

“Cute well decorated shop with seating, plants, and cold vegan food. Wish they had outlets for laptops or fresh hot food. Looks like they have liquor but they’re closed after 3pm and on weekends so that doesn’t really make sense?. Tried a horchata latte and it was very sour and difficult to drink. Man happily fixed and changed it for me. Second drink still bad.. Would not eat here again but would come back for a casual daytime date just because of the cozy ambience & Great service.“

“I have not had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Con Libros. However, this morning I placed a call for help with an order for a particular book and was connected to Sage(sp).
The service was immediately caring, patient, professional and set the bar for what to expect when interacting with a professional.
And while the book was not available at the location, I plan to make it a point to visit Cafe Con Libros based on the lovely and memorable service I received dyeing my call.

“Don't let Gandalf's scowling face discourage you! This pastry cafe is a MUST GO. We tried a little of everything, but my personal favorite (so far), was the pizza croissant. I've had A LOT of pastry in my time (my son went to the Culinary Institute and he's a pastry fanatic), but I swear to you, Elevenses' croissants are AMAZING. The pizza croissant had a little heat, a little tomato and a little cheese but BIG FLAVOR. I know it's annoying when someone capitalizes stuff for emphasis and I have never done it before so you can imagine, I'm not messing around. If you love flavor, freshness, an attention to every detail in every bite, you must try this place. It's a little out of the way, but honestly, it's a reason to come to Astoria. Manon, move over, Elevenses pastry has taken the prize.
BTW, just found out Georgia's landlord is being a brute and Elevenses will soon close. SAVE ELEVENSES!!!! I don't know what to do, but the thought of losing this treasure of pastry delights hurts my heart. If you have a special occasion coming up, give her a call and order as much as possible soon.
