“What a fabulous meal we had a Semma. Love the atmosphere with the thatched walls and ceilings, plus for a small restaurant, they really gave ample space between the tables in our section of the restaurant. Service was very warm, informative and attentive.Things we loved:Semma Sour - this is a fabulous drink. Highly recommendGunpowder Dosa - absolutely superb, generous and delicious. Accompanying chutneys were also fantasticLamb app - super savory, delicious little lamb bones in a nice pile really gave the meal a great startLamb shank - incredible. Soft as butter, phenomenal sauce.Stuffed peppers - amazing curry, a real highlight.Did not love the oxtail as it was frankly too fatty so 2 out of 3 bites were literally globs of fat. Not the chef's fault. I think we just misordered and should have opted for a fish dish instead.Would definitely return to Semma. Where we found Masalawala sort of ungenerou in the portions, Semma is more than ample. We look forward to returning if we can ever get a reservation again!“
“We have been here twice and it got better each time. Second time for a private event that was INCREDIBLY done. Chef Jay was so attentive and every morsel was enjoyed. If you love south Asian cuisine you will love this. If you don’t, you will still love this. It’s an imaginative and modern take that gives you flavors you should savor and applies them to your favorite foods.“
“Went early with a big group (of 10) and had a phenomenal experience! While the decor isn't anything to write home about, the food is spectacular and the service top notch. We sat in the outdoor dining (sidewalk) and that was just fine. Highly recommend this restaurant, they're doing a lot of things right, especially with the food.Parking: Very hard to get parking, probably best to get an uber here. You can take your chances and try for street parking but no guarantees you'll find it in time for your reservation.“
“really top notch place. BYOB, great prix fixe deal for dinner. all the classics you know and love executed at a way higher level than usual. papadum (free) and naan fantastic. particularly have to shout out the rasmalai for dessert, quite simply the best Indian dessert I have ever had, and I have been to 6th street and Jackson Heights and Curry Hill many times. lovely light texture, perfectly seasoned, not too sweet. attentive service, cute decor, and their water cups are those metal ones that make it extra cold and refreshing.“
“What a wonderful dinner experience my husband and I had. We celebrated our anniversary and they did not disappoint to make our evening so remarkable. I will be back for many more occasions. Food was amazing and never disappoints. Thank you Junoon for a great experience and a wonderful memory.“
“Chanced upon this place since we were in the hood. Really warm place with great food. More than the food, the warmth of the people is what touched my heart. Must try the shammi kebab, goat biryani (huuuuge portion) and the mughlai paratha if you are a bong like me missing the food from home. Will surely visit again.“
“Wow, this was one of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish was perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented. The flavors were subtle and delicate and each bite was exquisite, you could tell the chefs cared deeply about their food. I am blown away.“
“Solid, well-seasoned, tender, and juicy fried chicken. I’ve heard about how spicy the fried chicken is, so I got scared and ordered the lowest spice level. I’m happy to report it had zero spiciness. If you like a little bit of heat, you should order the second lowest spice level.“
“My favorite takeout Indian in the area! I usually go Chicken 65 for an appetizer which has (in my opinion) the perfect spicy level between flavor and spicy. For meals, you can’t go wrong with the Chicken Tikka Masala (or Vindaloo) + Garlic “
“Harsh was educational and kind about the different dishes we were served from beginning to end. This was my first time at Vatan. At the end, as a dairy free consumer, a dessert was given to me that was dairy free dessert, that’s call soan papi and I appreciated that soo much!“
“Good food. Not cheap though (considering it is a small store and not a mid tier restaurant). Cash only, also think twice before using the ATM outside, it has crazy charges.Order rotis carefully, they are huge.Their food tastes good but make sure you consume it the same day as it builds a sour kind of taste (unlike food from other places which easily lasts for a day)“
“Tamarind Restaurant in Tribeca, NY, is nothing short of a culinary marvel, offering an exceptional dining experience that stands out in the vibrant New York food scene. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by an atmosphere that perfectly balances elegance with warmth, making it an ideal spot for both casual and special occasions. The food at Tamarind is a delightful journey through exquisite flavors and innovative dishes. Each plate that arrived at our table was a testament to the chef's mastery and passion for culinary excellence. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were balanced, and the presentation was artful, making every bite an unforgettable experience. What truly elevated our dining experience, however, was the service, particularly our waiter, Dekiy. Dekiy's attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and genuine care for our dining experience were remarkable. She had an impeccable timing, always there when we needed her but never intrusive, ensuring our meal progressed smoothly and pleasantly. Her recommendations were spot on, guiding us through the menu to make selections that suited our tastes perfectly.Dekiy's professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our evening, making us feel truly special and well taken care of. It's rare to find such dedicated and thoughtful service, and Dekiy is undoubtedly a shining star in Tamarind's exceptional team.Tamarind Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy amazing food with equally impressive service. It’s a place where every detail is considered, ensuring a memorable dining experience. We left with full bellies, warm hearts, and the certainty that we would return. A heartfelt thank you to Dekiy and the entire team at Tamarind for making our visit truly exceptional.“
“I had a different types of varieties at this restaurant which was the best south Indian restaurants in New york to try Seeraka Sambar Mutton biryani and pompret fry are the specials at this restaurant i will definitely comeParking: Parking is not available you need to have a look at nearby streets“
“Sensational restaurant with such wonderful service and authentic Indian food. The proficient servers provided us with a marvellous experience on our special day. Fahad was an exceptional server who gave us with a wide variety of options and acclimated us to our specific needs. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place.“
“Amazing service, hospitality and cocktails from Jovi!! Beautiful atmosphere delicious food with great portions! Glad I popped in on my way out of town. I look forward to returning ??I’ll try to upload a video of the amazing cocktail I had ?“
“Baingan bartha & Dal tadka are 10/10. The baingan bartha is easily their top dish, super rich, with the right amount of sour + sweet + spice. The dal tadka is so wholesome, a little high on garlic. I would recommend the “desi spice” level as the flavors can be a bit mellow otherwise. The paneer was okay - not the softest and the flavors are pretty typical. 20% tip is mandatory and included.“
“I’ve been to a lot of NYC’s top Indian restaurants, and I think Sathi has the best Indian food & service!Food: the prie fix menu is a great bargain - you get a full-size entree, appetizer, and side (naan). The naans are huge! We also loved the crispy samosas and the amazing chutney that came with it.Service: the staff was just so wonderful. They went above and beyond to delight us! We’ll definitely be back.“
“I looked up the best Indian restaurants in New York City, and this restaurant was included in every single top Indian restaurant review. I was not disappointed. I believe this restaurant was great. I arrived immediately when they opened at 5 p.m. By the time I left, the place was completely packed. They do not take reservations, so it is first come, first served. I ate garlic naan, cheese naan, veggie samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Saag Paneer. I wasn't a big fan of the Saag Paneer, but I loved everything else. The samosas were massive! I'm not sure if you could have requested a certain spiciness level, but I wanted the Tikka masala to be a little hotter, but I didn't ask if you could adjust the spice level. The prices are also affordable! Four stars - Love those samosas!“
“Came here with a large group of friends and had an incredible time! Everything I ate and drank was absolutely delicious and tasted so authentic. I would definitely recommend the Golgappa as an appetizer and the Lotan ke Chole as an entree! Add the Pipli cocktail and it’s a perfect night :)“
“We tried Indian Table for restaurant week and now we are hooked! The service was amazing and staff very knowledgeable about the food. Everything was explained to us and it felt very inclusive. The food was full of flavor and spices from the Portuguese and Indian regions. The drinks were amazing. I recommend to any one to try this place out!“
“The best kebabs in the US so far! I had the Goat Doori kebab sheermal and it melted in the mouth with so many flavors. Its a must eat here. The Andhra Chilli Chicken is really hot and spicy. Do mention spice level for chilli chicken if not you will experience the spice level like never before. I loved the saffron pancakes with the dry ice on it with beautiful presetation. The sweet potato chat was good too. Overall Super tasty food items on the menu. I would defintiely try others next time.“
“Chill to the max and proper Indian. I feel transported back to India when I am there. The garlic naan as good as in Delhi. When I need cheering up and great food I make it there. The music in the background is not bad and not too loud. The service is stellar as Miguel is cool and he tells you what to get and he is always right on point. If you are in the mood for some libation, it is BYOB.I must admit also love the cheese naan. Can never get to the desert as I order too much to start.See you in the neighborhood.Vegetarian options: All that you could ever want and even vegan options.“
“Came for momos, left extremely satisfied! Their steamed chicken momos taste authentically Nepali, and the aachar (sauce) is the right amount of savory and spicy. Excellent service and great atmosphere and music. I'll be back to try the chili and jhol momos!“
“Ordered delivery, and it arrived so quickly! I’m talking minutes from order placed. The quality and portions were perfect! Especially the Garlic Naan! The Chicken Tikka Masala could have been a tad sweeter, but still delicious! Will definitely order again!!“
“Our server Tanmay offered amazing hospitality. Warm and welcoming, with great menu recommendations. The food was delicious, our table neighbors at the outdoor seating enjoyed everything as music as we did. The specialty cocktails were particularly fun.“
“Came across this place on Uber Eats so we decided to take advantage of the buy one get one free deal for the roti rolls. I like that you can customize your roll to however you like so the options are endless! Pleasantly surprised at how fast the service is and how amazing the food is! The ingredients taste fresh and the portions are the perfect size. It's our second time ordering from here and we were not disappointed! Safe to say this will be a regular spot for us and I look forward to trying the other items on the menu.“
“This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in the city! Such a hidden gem. The food is incredible (the lunch and dinner deals come with big enough portions to last me two meals) and the people who work there are beyond kind and incredible. Also, the Cauliflower appetizer is my favorite!!“
“Ordered the Charred Chicken Bowl, and I must say, it was phenomenal. It had a flavour that was unbeknownst to me in a bowl. The coconut ranch mixed with the habanero sauce, really do create a unique flavour profile. Also, the chicken marination was something that was brand new to me. Do give it a try!“
“This is the BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN NYC!Update:I went in April 2022 for a live music event with Obasi as the performer. It was a great vibe. The chicken samosas and vegetable fritters were delicious. Perfectly flavorful, crispy and flaky. The Saag Paneer was absolutely amazing. The Spinach was not soggy. It was tasty and the cheese was not overwhelming in flavor or overall within the dish. The rice was fluffy and wonderful with the garlic naan.Go for live music Mondays - 6:30pm to 10pm. They feature different artists check out Eventbrite for details.Enjoy.Original review:I tried so many of their menu items. The chicken samosa was amazing! The batter was flaky and deliciously paired with the perfectly seasoned chicken inside. Every bite was amazing. The shammi kebab was intensely but wonderfully seasoned with mint and spices. The achari chicken tikka was delicious! The chicken was tender, juicy and once again, perfectly seasoned.I am not usually a fan of shrimp and rarely order it when eating out.The shrimp balchoa had such a great flavor profile! The shrimp was not chewy and covered in a tasty sauce. The garlic naan was soft with crispy edges. So delicious. The sharifa kheeDessert: Gulab Jamun Malai was a soft, warm, fluffy, delicious mouth feel. The shariga kheer was good. The almonds, rose essence and creamy rice was just sweet enough and served with a chocolate wafer stick that was a great contrast and added more texture. We sat outside, drank ate and laughed for hours. The restaurant staff was very welcoming and informative. If you are in the mood for delicious, authentic Indian food, I highly recommend Ashoka on 1718 2nd Avenue!“
“Curry and Handi has delicious, truly fresh, and flavorful food. I think it is the best Indian food I have had since visiting India 2 years ago. As a vegetarian I appreciate the offerings and highly recommend the broccoli tandori. The service is excellent as well.“
“I visit Veeray da Dhaba with not very high expectations because frankly speaking it’s very difficult to find good Indian food outside South Asia. But I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this place. I had ordered saag paneer which was flavorful and had a freshness to it that is rare to find in curries in Indian restaurants. The lime soda was refreshing too with just the right amount of tanginess and spiciness to it. Serving size was pretty decent. Rotis were hot and crispy. Service was friendly and efficient. I found the ambience warm and unpretentious. And above all, that pretty decent meal with a drink costed me just 20+ bucks — so easy on the pocket too. I look forward to visiting it again on my next visit to the town.“
“Update: surprisingly good service this time with decent food. Keep up the good work!Old review: Decent food but the service was really horrible. The server didn't get the right order and was very rude - accused us of lying just for 2 pieces of naan! Must learn to treat customers with respect first. Also, they charge a 20% gratuity for insulting you.“
“What caught my eye here is the pandara road wala butter chicken. Now pandara road in delhi has some renowned restaurants and having been to gulatis recently, I was intrigued. It definitely was not a letdown, some of the tastiest butter chicken I’ve had in the states. Moong dal halwa was a banger as “
“I came toward the end of their service hours, about 9:20 and was greeted warmly. Service was impeccable and the food was so delicious. I usually get Indian food in Astoria along 30th Ave. None compare to Cardamom. They are not huge and doesn’t seat many, but it is clean, well decorated and the staff is friendly and attentive.I had the lamb methi curry, vegetable samosa, naan and mango lassi. All were perfectly delicious and beautifully presented. If I were to have one complaint it would be that the methi curry could’ve been spicier since I ordered at the highest spice level and found it to be just mild. Still delicious though.I will come here instead of my usual haunts.“
“The food is unapologetic true to the name. It’s not for everyone but for those who can handle spice and flavours or want to stray beyond the sweet paneer makhani dishes littering every Indian restaurant - give it a shot. Not cheap even for NY standards !“
“I went here with my dad, it was nice, quiet, room temperature and well lit.The service was great ?? they came to check on us every few long minutes and we’re very friendly and kind. The food was so good!! If you don’t know what to order they can recommend things for you based on your taste. The garlic Nan was SO YUMMMy flavorful and soft !! And the rice was soft and the meat was well cooked and spiced. I ordered chicken Korma And my dad got salmon mansala. We both ordered a mango lassi and it’s sweetAnd smooth Everything was great I definitely will be coming back!“
“This place is an amazing find so close to Times Square! If you are in the are don't miss the opportunity to have dinner, or lunch here. The ambiance is great for a date night, the food is so flavorful and delicious, and the staff are so friendly and attentive.“
“Went here for lunch around 4 pm on a Saturday and it was empty. Ordered butter chicken, lamb biryani, and garlic naan and it was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend. Service was amazing and welcoming and the inside was very cozy and nicely decorated. Prices were super affordable and we both left full and with leftovers. Will definitely be coming here again.“
“5 stars is not enoughLove the breakfast specialThe Haleem is made with beef not lamb. Everything so flavorful.Seekh kebab very well spicedGreat samosas. Daal puri good when fresh.Don't care for the rolls, biryani, or lollipopVegetarian options: Daal puri fresh hot delicious“
“Not your typical traditional Indian restaurant. The food here is very unique and creative. We started with the Bokchoy Chaat. I'm a big fan of Samosa Chaat and not a fan of adding more vegetables to an item I already like, but I thought the chaat was really good. Somehow, the bokchoy, the pomegranate and the chutney mixed together created an amazing flavor profile. We also had the Chipotle Chicken Tikka. I thought it was good, but not a must-have dish.We shared the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani. At first, we thought the portion wouldn't be big enough to share, but it was perfect for two. And it tasted excellent. It was a little on the spicy side, but I couldn't stop eating it.For dessert, we ordered both desserts that the restaurant carries; the Gulab Jamun Creme Brulee and the Lychee Firni. Both were amazing!! I would come back to the restaurant just to have dessert again! I never thought that a gulab jamun stuck inside creme brulee would go together, but it totally works! And who would think to put lychee pieces in firni? I loved both and you can't go wrong with either.“
“I come to Bombay all the time! This is my favorite Indian food in the financial district / downtown area. I recommend the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and mango lassi. Christopher is amazing! He is always so helpful, friendly, and kind whenever we’re there. Definitely check this place out if you love Indian food.“
“Jagdish and Vishala, owners of the restaurant (excuse the spelling) are very friendly. The service was fast and great, food was amazing as always (we got Gobi Manchurian Dosa and Spinach Masala Dosa this time). Only feedback would be the spice level could be more in the potato filling of the dosa. Chai at the restaurant or on the go is perfect too. I recommend anyone in the mood for yummy vegetarian Indian food to visit.“
“I came to Shaheen sweets of Queens on Friday to pick up some mithai for my friend's nikkah in the early morning.Just wanted to tell you how amazing your sweets are. Which is really an understatement...I personally do not like sweets but I couldn't stop eating the variety that you all had packed for me.Jazakallah!!May Allah swt continue to give u Barakah in all that you do.In Shaa Allah I will be back soon for some more mithai. The best mithai hands down!!!“
“This was a delivery order. They nailed it. The dish I ordered said spicy and I asked for it not to be spicy. Perfectly prepared ?. The food was nice and hot and the delivery man was so sweet. I will definitely eat here again. Thank you for making my night. Money well spent.“
“First time visiting this restaurant and it was great! The owner is a very pleasant, hospitable and a kind guy. Went above and beyond to cater to our needs. Food was very good and the owner, as mentioned, was very accommodating.W restaurant; would go again.“
“Win Win Win! Finding this place was a win, we now have our official go-to Indian restaurant. They did everything right, the atmosphere is one of a simple, authentic Indian restaurant on the lower east side. As soon as you walk in you smell the amazing aromas, the place was packed, and they were very attentive to us. We placed and order and EVERYTHING tasted amazing. The naan was so so so good, but really everything was. The service was really personal and friendly. We had a great time, we ate and drank well we left happy. Give this place a shot.“
“The owners are amazing The inside is amazing you have to come there with your family very delicious beautiful food and I don't go out to a lot of restaurants but this is one of the best I've been to hospitality is awesome trust me.“
“My fiance and I were visiting from Michigan and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant for lunch. The owner was our server. He was the nicest person! Beyond that, the food was incredible. 10/10. I wish I could go here everyday for lunch and dinner. Amazing experience.“
“My favorite restaurant of all time. I've gone through at least half the menu and you can't go wrong with anything you order. Would most strongly recommend the daal as an accompaniment and the treacle for dessert, those are my two "musts" every visit.“
“We've stumbled upon our new favorite spot for food in Sunnyside. We discovered it by chance, and we're simply amazed by the delicious taste of their dishes and the excellent service they provide. The lentil soup is a delight, the garlic naan is perfect, and their tandoori chicken ranks among the best we've ever had. My daughter can't get enough of the spicy chicken, and my wife is smitten with the fish bengal - well-seasoned and incredibly tasty. Despite living far from the place, we've been going there at least once a week because it's definitely worth the trip. Thanks again and all the best!“
