“I was reading the reviews and I see there was some reviews that are not so good. Let me tell you it is a small shop. It’s not fancy, but they’re the best bagels around and they’re not the most expensive either. The ladies work very hard. you don’t know that they have to fulfill some very big orders in the morning which take a lot of work. It’s very hot in there from the oven so some days they’re just drained. They don’t have the energy almost to smile, but believe me, there’s such sweet ladies. Sometimes you have to give people a benefit of the doubt. It’s not an easy job believe me and now they take credit and cash and I go early in the morning and I have the hottest best bagels and the spreads and other things are very good. yes it might seem expensive but you’re paying for the service and the convenience. Believe me if I ever moved from Scarsdale I would miss this place. Probably the most of everything. And Manny, the son is a sweetheart!“

“I really liked PopUp Bagels! I will say it wasn't what I was completely expecting so just know before you go that if you want butter or cream cheese or any of those add on's you have to buy their tiny tubs of them so I opted to only get one. They are incredibly fresh, you just go to the side window and they give them to you fresh out of the oven. The bagels were great!“

“I have been a long time customer, since the early 80’s. For the first time I had lunch at the Hot Bar and met the new executive chef Chris Smith while I was serving myself. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious and he was so friendly and helpful. Kudos to Stews for continually hiring outstanding employees and welcome to Chris.“

“This neighborhood deli is packed with character and options. I ordered a classic lox and scallion cream cheese—fresh, briny, and generously portioned. The scallion cream cheese had the perfect tang and herbal kick, complementing the lox beautifully. I also grabbed a cup of their Oreo pudding—rich, sweet, and creamy without being overly heavy. A nostalgic treat done right.

“Excellent bagels made in store. This shop is very popular with locals. Lines at peak times. I rated atmosphere at five because it’s possible to speak with other locals at tables and chairs (5 tables and 15 chairs including a single table and chair next to a south facing window -great sun trap on a cold morning). My favourite is an everything bagel with cream cheese toasted and coffee.“

“An excellent place to buy bagels. We go there every year to get our Cheistmas bagels. These bagels are fresh and so delicious. We also love their bacon and scallion cream cheese. The people there are so nice. Can't ask for a better place.“

“I have been going to this bagel shop for like four years now. It is the best bagel shop that I have found within a 6 mile radius. The ladies who work the front are so sweet and have incredible memories.

I am writing this review immediately after I had a peak Hastings Own Bagel experience. I walk into the store, she says: “Bad boy, scallion cream cheese, no toasted, iced coffee 2 sugars, black, large.” Needless to say I was out of there two minutes after entering.

In my probably 500 orders there has only ever been one mistake and it was when they had a new staff member and he confused me and someone else’s orders.

I talk about their bagels to people literally worldwide. They hold up incredibly well frozen and take like 3 days to get properly stale. The crumb is incredible, the crust is great. Literally what more could you ask for from a bagel shop.

Ok now on to the product more specifically and portions. I really think they have it down pat for the cream cheese to bagel ratio, there is never too much or two little, it’s a good serving and I feel like it is perfectly satiating. They have a great selection of bagels and have a pretty good spread variety. I personally go for the bad boy because everything is too far for me. They have a good griddle setup, whenever I get an egg and cheese or a BEC I find myself enjoying it, they could use a little more egg sometimes but I get it, trump’s America.

Anyways, this bagel shop may be my favorite store in the world thank you guys for dominating the Hastings bagel economy.“

“Fabulous food! Friendly service! The avocado toast was delicious! My only suggestion has to do with the coffee. The coffee should be taste-tested before allowing customers to serve themselves because today’s regular coffee was weak and tasteless. Other than that The Shop is great!“

“I stayed in Cortland for a few days and found this little gem! So glad I did; I currently live in Florida and crave a good NY Bagel. This place was exactly what I expected, great bagels and awesome cream cheese spread. We'll hopefully be back in the future!“

“Perfect location with a municipal parking lot next to the cafe. GCBC bagels are as close to the bagels I grew up eating in Forest Hills. They are soft but slightly chewy. Perfect texture! When I go early in the morning after they've taken them out of the oven, I don't even ask them to toast it. Sometimes I have to wait in line because they're busy but that's a good sign. There are regulars who come every morning and read newspapers while having their bagels. It's a neighborly place with excellent bagels.“

I didn't rate the atmosphere because it's not really a full service restaurant but more a place where you sit and eat your food or take it out as well. But I did give 5 stars to the service because they are incredible and that definitely adds to the atmosphere of Long Island Bagel Cafe.“
