“The desserts we had were exceptionally good. This was the best part of the meal. The scallop crudo was small, boring and expensive. The half-chicken main course was very good, and was enough to split between 2 people, but required at least one of them to be good at disassembling a chicken. The atmosphere was very loud. The place is toddler friendly, which is great if you have a toddler, and not so great if you do not. The restaurant is very popular, so reservations are a must. If you are hip and cool, you will probably enjoy it more than I did. It was not bad, but IMO it is a bit over-rated, as the only truly standout dishes we had were the desserts, and they were fantastic. Also, the bread was very very good. The drinks were OK. The price was a bit too high for what were served, in general. Mostly, it was just too loud for eating, for me. I am glad we tried it. 4 stars because- why not? I do not run down a decent restaurant with excellent service that is trying very hard just because it does not suit me.“

The bar counter was served by a nice and professional young Asian lady. My husband and I always try flights, here the flight consisted of 3 types of beer, the volume was not small, I still prefer when the flight is 5-6 types, but smaller in size, so I can choose a larger amount of future purchase. We sat outside, there were several large wooden tables with umbrellas. The territory was also simple, without design, looked a little unkempt. There was a music group preparing for a performance, but we left without having time to listen. I really like live music in such places. Of the 3 types of beer, I liked 2, my husband liked 1, we bought a type of beer to take with us that we had not tried and it turned out to be not bad. The prices are average.“

“Such an amazing afternoon at Minards with friends! We came with our 7 (combined) kids - who are 3-14 years old- And seriously, every single one of the kids had a blast, as did the parents! It’s a great set up for your kids to play while the grownups hang out nearby hand can enjoy a beverage or two. Angie and Jason were WONDERFUL hosts - which is kind of wild because my assumption is that the owners would generally oversee from some sort of ivory tower, but nope! They are right there “in it” with all the customers visiting for the day. I won’t lie- I love it and they are awesome people. My 7 year old is currently directing me to give them a 10 star review and is NOT happy that 5 is the max amount allowed. The parking lot was full of lots of jersey and Pennsylvania plates and that’s awesome- but more locals need to come spend a day here because it was an awesome experience for all! Also worth noting- I know places like this can be incredibly overwhelming for kids who may be neurodiverse and not thrilled with sensory overload. If you do come and try a day hanging out here- look for Angie (Incredibly friendly, very pretty blonde - can’t miss her!) and introduce her to your little one. Her whole background is in taking care of kiddos just like yours and she’s like a sorcerer with making them feel comfortable and not overwhelmed! “My hubby is from NY but I'm from the South. We stopped by to get lunch after family suggested it. OMG!!!! The best sub I've ever tasted. I got The Big and he got The Godfather. Can't wait to visit again. Not only was the food awesome but the staff were friendly and prices reasonable :)“

“Prying yourself off of the main strip in New Paltz, The Parish restaurant shows that the back streets have something to offer as well.
To the left side of Main Street as you're heading out of town, right before you get to the old bridge, you'll see a little area that's called The Water Street Market. Making your way past all the various shops along the way, you will find The Parish upstairs overlooking the area. There is also a small parking lot for The Water Street Market in the very back. If you take the side roads and you're lucky, you may be able to find a parking spot there.
We started our lunch with The Hush Puppies and Gator Bites. The Hush Puppies were golden brown, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The Honey butter was a nice compliment, adding that smooth creaminess and making them a warm delicious treat. The Gator Bites had a crisp outside batter with a little flavor kick from some Cajun spices. The remoulade dipping sauce was a nice pairing for the bites with that texture and flavor that only Gator has.
For our main dishes we had the Jambalaya and the Parish Burger with the side salad. The Jambalaya had a little spicy warmth to bring to the mix with the chicken and Andouille Sausage doing their part for flavor. The Parish Burger with the poblano peppers, onions, and cheese was superb. The aioli really helped to bring forward and meld all the flavors together including the juices of the perfectly cooked hamburger. Each bite added to the enjoyment. The salad having been tossed in a vinaigrette rested on the same plate making a pleasant addition.
For dessert we had the Blueberry Cheesecake. It was moderate in density with just the right amount of blueberry on it. The whipped cream with the fresh blueberries and drizzle of caramel was a nice touch of added freshness.
To surmise, The Parish with its Cajun vibe is a cozy little nook away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip.
