“I cannot recommend Porchlight enough! I have become a frequent flyer— no seriously— twice a dad visits. I love the convenience of their online ordering in the morning and their great cafe space for lunch. There is no wrong answer when it comes to their variety of flavors for your lattes. Truly a skillfully crafted coffee menu along with flavor-packed food options. My absolute favorite menu item is their harvest Cobb salad. I CAN’T GET ENOUGH! Dried cranberries, grilled chicken, feta (I think), walnuts, topped with the to-die-for maple vinaigrette on a bed of lettuce. Seriously, there is NO reason NOT to go to Porchlight. Cheers!”

“Really nice stop for lunch today. To tell you the truth, we were taken back by the small menu selections. The atmosphere is very nice...a wine bar feel. We sat out on the balcony. Again... very nice. The food came out quickly and fresh. It was..... very nice. Get it? It's a very nice place. Nothing outstanding or over and beyond what you'll get elsewhere, but they do things well and the food is good. The prices are maybe a bit high, but you can say that everywhere right now. I had the fish and chips ($25). Lake Erie Walleye with an herbal aoli. It was great, honestly. That walleye dish is an example of why lake erie walleye has such a great reputation. J got the corner smash burger ($19). A double patty cheeseburger with aged cheddar. It was very juicy. The cheese was great. Sauce was very good. A really, good burger. Fries were also pretty good. Coleslaw.... very, very light. The perfect coleslaw for a fish dinner. I'll be honest with you here. I don't like coleslaw. I've never eaten more than a small bite at one time in my life. This was the first coleslaw in my 50+ years that I actually ate and enjoyed the whole thing. Finished every bite. So there's that! Would I go back. Absolutely! We enjoyed it! Would I suggest it to an out of town friend looking for something great and different? Maybe not.”

The Royal Filet was cooked to perfection and our waitress Taryn accommodated my request to have it wrapped in bacon. The baked potato had all the fixings and cooked just right. The old fashioned was top notch. The limoncello shots were great. Everything was what I thought it would be. Taryn,our waitress, was nothing short of amazing. Taryn was funny, on top of it and an overall great person. I would recommend this place to anyone. Taryn completed the dinner and made my week.”

The young man at the window greeted me with a smile and confirmed my order. He gave me my order and told me to have a great day with a big smile. My bottled water was ice cold, just the way I like it. My sandwich was hot and fresh, along with the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I was very pleased with the service and my food.”

I was in the Akron area for training with TNVC and I assume my iPad was stolen. Today it pinged at someone’s house and then it pinged in the parking lot of the Basement a few hours after I locked it and left a message for the would be thief. I called and spoke with Stephanie, and after explaining what had happened she was king enough to walk to the parking lot while I pinged it. The thief had dumped my iPad in the dumpster, thankfully not too deep. I just wanted to say that Stephanie was amazing for being such a good person and helping someone with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Next time my family and I are in the Akron/waterloo area I will make sure I patronize The Basement if only to help repay a bit of the kindness shown! This is how a neighborhood restaurant does it!”

I can remember my older bro and his wife ordering from Regina's when I was a kid 50 years ago. There's a reason they're a legend. This pizza was outstanding. Wonderful, soft crust, great amount of sauce and sausage that was cooked to perfection. Jojos had a peculiar smoke taste, like baked potatoes cooked over a campfire. Fantastic food. Their credit card machines were down when I went to pick up my carry out order, they offered to take down my card information so I was able to still get my order. I was a little nervous but I let him take my information as well as my name and number. I just received a text message with a photo of my ticket and then a photo of my ticket ripped up to ensure my information was destroyed. They took the time to do this with each person that trusted them with their information. I think this shows the type of business they are and I am blown away!”

“I rented the interior living room space for my bridal shower and it was absolutely amazing! I looked around and got pricing from a ton of other venues, and Pure Intentions had the most reasonable price out of everyone else. The space was also very different than the run-of-the-mill banquet halls people usually rent for these types of events. There were couches, bar/barstool areas, multiple different tables, comfortable seating, a stage, a piano, and cool art hanging up all over the walls. The lighting was perfect as in not too bright, and we were able to adjust the lighting by turning off some of the lights and using the lamps they have set up there. For my shower, I provided painting supplies and canvases for my guests so we could do a "paint and sip" style party with champagne and snacks. We set up our own projector up on the stage and followed along to a YouTube video tutorial and painted the same picture all together following along with the video. When I told the staff at Pure Intentions about my paint and sip style party plan, they were not only entirely open to the idea, they were ECSTATIC to be able to host such a creative and fun event for us. One of the employees met me there an hour early and helped me hang up decorations, provided me with extra tables, and got me some ice and a cooler for my beverages to stay cold. She was just amazing and I am so grateful for her help. I will 100% be recommending Pure Intentions to anyone looking for a cool, chill, vibey space for their event. We could tell they were busy as it seemed there was only 2-3 servers on. Our food was not long on the wait. The manager changed a TV for us so my buddy could watch hockey. We always have had problems with other places never changing TV's for us. He asked us how our day had been and just seemed to really care about us being there. Dan was wonderful and made sure, it seemed that everyone was having a nice time. I will definitely be back soon. Wonderful Irish food.”

“My two daughters, grand daughter and I went to DeJuan's on Saturday 4/27/24 for my birthday dinner. Our reservation was at 8pm. First time going there. We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was delightful. I had the shrimp scampi and daughters had salmon. This is definitely on our list of favorites. We had a pleasant surprise, we had to wait a little bit longer for our food due to other big parties (no big deal to us), however the management came to our booth and apologized for the slight delay and took care of the whole bill for the night. We did not have to pay a dime. WOW!. We have been to other restaurants but never received such pleasant service. On top of such wonderful gesture, I was given a signature glass as a birthday gift. KUDOS to Erica, Tracy and our server Navel (i hope i spelled it right). We thank you sincerely for making our day. We will definitely come back again.”

One place that caught our attention was the Spaghetti Warehouse in Akron, located right next to the University of Akron. I first discovered it through DoorDash while picking up orders in the area, and since we’re big fans of Italian food, I suggested we give it a try. We decided to go there as a way to celebrate two special milestones—our daughter moving into her dorm and our son starting 7th grade. The moment we walked in, we were struck by the restaurant’s unique, nostalgic decor. It has an old boardwalk theme, complete with vintage arcade machines like the claw game and a love tester, which both my kids and my wife enjoyed. It gave the place a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. We were greeted and seated by our server, Jackie, who was fantastic throughout our visit. She was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. Unfortunately, while looking over the menu, we noticed several items that were listed but not actually available, which was disappointing. For food, my wife chose to build her own spaghetti with the Pomodoro sauce—a blend of marinara and Alfredo—and she really enjoyed it. She also had the house salad with ranch, which she said was fresh and flavorful. My son built his own spaghetti with meat sauce and two meatballs, and he loved his meal as well. I decided on the 15-layer lasagna, which the menu described as “incredible.” Sadly, I didn’t feel the same—it looked a little burnt, tasted chewy, and reminded me more of a frozen lasagna than something freshly made. Overall, the food was hit-or-miss. My wife and son enjoyed their meals, while mine was underwhelming. The service, however, was excellent, and Jackie really made the experience more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot with a fun atmosphere and decent spaghetti, Spaghetti Warehouse isn’t a bad choice. Just be prepared for a few menu inconsistencies and don’t expect every dish to live up to the hype.”

“I will be honest, I haven’t eaten there yet but just had the greatest experience that restored my faith in humanity just a little bit. I was in the Akron area for training with TNVC and I assume my iPad was stolen. Today it pinged at someone’s house and then it pinged in the parking lot of the Basement a few hours after I locked it and left a message for the would be thief. I called and spoke with Stephanie, and after explaining what had happened she was king enough to walk to the parking lot while I pinged it. The thief had dumped my iPad in the dumpster, thankfully not too deep. I just wanted to say that Stephanie was amazing for being such a good person and helping someone with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Next time my family and I are in the Akron/waterloo area I will make sure I patronize The Basement if only to help repay a bit of the kindness shown! This is how a neighborhood restaurant does it!”
