“My friends and I went to thousand islands for a few days and stayed in an airbnb. We couldn't find any restaurants nearby except for Rapid Valley so we decided to try it out and it was worth it. The building itself was clean and comfortable, the service was perfect but the best part was the food. I got the fried chicken sandwich which was amazing. The fries lacked some salt but there was salt provided so that wasn't an issue. One of my friends got the fish and chips which also tasted really good but was really oily which you would expect. My other friend got the chicken strips which were also good. My other friend also got the fried chicken sandwich. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to come here.“

“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

Service: pleasant
Food: Mixed

Steak tartare was light, fresh, nicely seasoned. Simply but well executed. Great call to have it available in appetizer size. The toast that came with it was a hit on its own.

Swiss train ride: their version of a Croque Madame, left a bit to be desired. While made with quality ingredients, exexution was not any better than a standard dinner. It was simply too dry, but the egg yolk helped with a few bites. The salad it came with also seemed rather hastily thrown together. The potato rosti it came with was crispy and light and was the best part of the dish.

Overall nice place. Will return to try the burger ans perhaps other dishes.“

“We had a bar table on a Saturday a couple of weeks ago (Oct 2025)and had an exceptional meal great choices and excellent wine pairings to go with the dishes we selected from the menu at a very reasonable price the same offering in Melbourne (we are Australian) would be at least 50% more. “We were there for the 5 course chef farm to table menu, but the place seemed slammed by Winterlicious reservations that were not expected, so the service was a bit off in that that they forgot our cocktails and then also one of our courses was severely delayed. There seemed to be a misconnect between the bar, the kitchen and service which was odd since the chef's menu and timing are not really up for interpretation. The tasting menu was nice, but I'd be interested to see if what their actual menu is like if we come back. Servers and host were excellent.“

“Walked into this place today... not the greatest Shawrma I have had but definitely not the worst... great selections of fresh added ingredients... chicken looked tasty on the spin but lacked flavour. People were plesent ans the food came fast. I ordered a mango drink and the bottle was warm..must me something wrong with tge fridge. overall the price is great $16 bucks taxes in for a wrap and drink....fairly good deal!

The wrap they are using is too thin its more like a crepe. Honestly I have the sandwich 6.5 out of ten ingredients selection is 10 out of 10!

Lots of sitting room I imagine at night this place is rocking....a little tweak here and there and this place would he a higher rating from me.

“Not truly wheelchair accessible. I was very much looking forward to dining here. After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.“

But in case you’re curious about the food, that too, was also AMAZING! When people usually can see the foods they’re about to eat, or are around, sometimes just the look of something might turn our minds off of the idea of eating something. This place, making you eat in complete darkness, also has “surprise” food options as well! My husband and I chose the “surprise” starters and deserts, but we chose our actual meal options, out of fear due to my picky eating. I was absolutely blown away at how delicious both of our meals tasted! 🤤 Definitely check them out if you ever get the chance! “Felt like a wonderful home made meal. Warm, hearty vegan platter which was great value! Not to mention delicious.The owner was a sweet and gentle man, felt like he was truly concerned with our well being. One note is to move away from styrofoam but otherwise just amazing!
