“Had Valentines dinner there last night. The first dinner package was mainly sashimi but the changed it to sushi for us at a reasonable extra cost . The food was excellent and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back. An extra was that the waitress who greeted us was Japanese.“

“Food 5/5
Service 4/5
Vibe 5/5
Another hidden Japanese style reso GEM in Toronto DT.
I have really high hopes as it was a MISSION to get a reservation, and they did not disappoint. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My personal fav was the toast dessert, liver paste with garlic toast and corns tempura. I feel a lot of dishes are a mix of Japanese and chinese culture (but not 100% sure), but everyone was a seller! Love, yum and want more b
Overall 5/5! definitely coming back and trying out more dishes! #eatwithclaw“

“Haru shabu shabu has a large selection of soup base, appetizers, meats, and veggies. We had the spicy and sukiyaki base and enjoyed both. With a green P parking across the street and subway station in the building, it’s super accessible. We didn’t have any problems with wait times around lunch time. Overall a great dining experience!“

“Didn’t have any reservations anywhere near our concert venue in a very busy night (Valentine’s Day and family day weekend) so looked up sushi near me and thank Google, it led us to Koi - every bite was so delicious and I’ll be back for the torched scallop, torched salmon and spicy beef inari (pocket) sushi. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious and our chef/host/server had the best sweet energy. I rarely like to eat in bright restaurants (lol if you know you know) but as a casual spot, this has such charm! Will be back for more sushi and sake!“

“This is my favourite sushi spot on Queen East. While a smaller and more intimate restaurant it gas sufficient seating and a cozy atmosphere. It is a bit on the pricer side for what sushi can be but the good thing is the quality definitely matches the price point. All of the items and dishes we have gotten were fresh, well presented and tasty! Service is warm and quick which is not often a pairing you find in most restaurants but you will find it here.“

“We had a great omakase experience at Sushi Umi.
We reserved seats for the weekend noon seating. The omakase included an appetizer, 10 pieces of sushi, a hand roll, and tamago. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The service was excellent—the waitress was very attentive and always refilled the tea just when it was about to run out. The portion size may depend on your appetite; for me it wasn’t completely filling, but you can easily add a few à la carte seafood items if you still have room.
Overall it was a very enjoyable and authentic Japanese restaurant food experience. Definitely recommended.“

“It definitely worth the hype! We tried the beef hot udon and crab hot udon. The udon quality was very good, fresh, chewy, soft. The broth for each udon is different, both were very delicious. I will definitely come back to try more! Service was prompt and friendly. Heads up, Check out their Yelp page for virtual wait list to save time ;)“

“I celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday here, and overall it was a great experience. Sushi Kiwami is definitely a place worth trying. The service was very friendly, and many of the dishes were creative and unique—things you don’t usually see at other sushi restaurants.
Some sushi pieces didn’t quite hit the spot, but overall the quality and presentation were still very enjoyable. There’s a little room for improvement, but it’s still a solid place for a special occasion.
Overall, a good experience and worth checking out. ⭐“

“It was a quiet night and some if my sashimi was a tad cold, but everything was deliscious. The two owners were very kind and patient to my questions. Highly reccomend the red dragon roll. Music was pleasant and just the right volume. All the sushi is made to order.“

“We like the one at Carlton street so we decided to visit this one tonight. The food is good and we like the Thursday deal - it’s a Tsukune flight. This location may not have that many seats, it still has good vibe. BTW, it has a Ashahi beer for $6 on Thursday.“

“My only regret was not visiting earlier. The shoyu classic was incredibly good; the pork was very tender and the broth was smoky and hearty. Our waitress was very charming and friendly. Bit cramped with lunch crowd but was more focused on the good food. Highly recommend!“

Furthermore, the establishment is family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for individuals with children. “Incredible! Most of all thank you so much for making me feel so safe as a celiac! The server without prompting, always let me know in advance what was in each item and, substitution recommendations and as everything was delivered to the table she reconfirmed each item. Such a fabulous experience and omg so delicious! An adventure and experience! Thank you guys!“

“My favourite omakase in Toronto!!! The menu’s variety — you get many textures, flavours, cooking styles (grilled, raw, broiled, tempura, rice etc.). That keeps things interesting. Kappo Sato feels like a restaurant where love for Japanese food and craft really shows. Really love this place❤️“

“I had so much fun! It was my birthday, and we went for a karaoke night. I had avocado maki, and it tasted really REALLY good. 👍 My parents had other stuff too and they liked it a lot and loved it a lot. So I’d highly recommend the food. And our waitress was really nice and always made sure we were cared for! The place was very vibey, and our karaoke machine was super good. It sounded awesome. The place was very clean and everyone was very polite. If you’re looking for a cool awesome epic place to go eat and have karaoke, this is DEFINITELY the place! 😊“

“Amazing first omakase experience. It was a special night for me - celebrating my 30th birthday, 20th year in Canada, and my brother's promotion. Couldn't have picked a better place.
Chef Eric was incredibly friendly, professional and he truly made the night extra memorable. Would absolutely love to come back again.“

“We come here pretty often and they’re a solid sushi spot at fair prices. Sometimes they provide a bit too much rice though for the nigiri and maki. They have some off days where the fish doesn’t taste as fresh but quality is usually good. Also, it’s pretty much a takeout only spot for those that don’t know.“

“For a place like this, let the food speak for itself. The price can seem a little high but the quality and amount you get make it all worth it. The service is quick and the staff were kind, able to give me easy recommendations, clear that they were from someone who actually eats what they sell. Customers are also paying for a cozy atmosphere, the walls lined with memories from visitors past via sticky notes. Another plus is that this location is only minutes away from the nearest station. This place deserves 4 stars, solid already with some room for improvement. I'd like to see more seating in the future as I'd imagine the place reaches max capacity pretty quick.“

“The shop is mostly for take out and has a couple of tables, but don’t let their small appearance deter you from coming in and ordering. They are very friendly folks and serve very savoury and delicious sushi. I tried two of their combos which were accompanied by salad and miso soup. Everything was fantastic!“

“I love the frothy Paitan Soy. With the sous vide chashu and chicken and the seasoned egg, it's an amazing bowl. Kaminari is my favourite ramen restaurant in Toronto. The vibe is Tokyo: Japanese design books, great lighting, and a really good, solid state sound system. Most importantly, they have well-made seating and tables that are the right width for conversation. They've thought of everything.“

“A classic spot in Toronto. Service is great and the okonomoyaki is comforting and hits the spot every time. Our table had a slight wobble and they immediately help fixed it.
You do have to wait for your party to all be there before you get seated and the waiting area is tight by the door. However, I’ll always keep coming back here. Highly recommend going here if you love Japanese comfort food and enjoy a diner-esque cozy vibe.“

“Delicious and reasonably priced ramen in the heart of Kensington market. So happy we finally came here. The quantity was amazing and glad we came hungry and left here with full heart and belly. My creamy mushroom ramen which is the only veggie option was delicious. The hot chili powder gave it a nice kick. The service was prompt and our waitress was courteous. The ambiance is very simple but bright and clean. I would come back here for a nice and fulfilling meal.“

“This place was really good bang for its buck. For $20 ish for the meal and unlimited side dishes and ice cream I would say this was well worth the price. I got the Gyudon and I actually loved it the flavour was pretty good and my partner got the hamachi don, which was also pretty well flavoured. For the side dishes; I quite liked the miso soup and liked how you can adjust the amount of seaweed / scallions you add. The takoyaki was decent for a buffet styled one. I thought the raddish kimchi was good. The cucumber was not as good as I thought it would be (a bit soft and under seasoned), the kimchi also was not as flavourful as I thought either. The fish cakes were good. I also liked the ice cream.“

“It's one of the best current hidden gems in Toronto. The orignial chicken with purple rice is our all time favourite, but you can't go wrong with any choice. The chicken is plump, juicy, and has a delicious crispy skin. A must try!“

“In December 2025, my daughter chose to celebrate her birthday at Yukashi Japanese Cuisine, and we were simply amazed. We chose the Omakase menu, an experience that also includes thoughtfully paired beverages and sakes with each course.
Chef Daisuke Izutsu and his entire team delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish. Since we didn’t know exactly what to expect, we arrived feeling a bit anxious. Right at the beginning, we were welcomed with a sake described as an “ice breaker” and that’s exactly what it was. From that moment on, we relaxed, felt completely at ease, and enjoyed the experience to the fullest.
With each course presented, we were immersed in the stories behind the dishes, enriched by an incredible attention to detail and followed by an explosion of flavors with every plate we tasted. The experience went far beyond dining it was a true journey.
To end the evening on a perfect note, we were served the much-anticipated dessert truly indescribable, with a unique and unforgettable flavor. As a beautiful and thoughtful gesture, the team also surprised us with a small birthday cake topped with a candle, beautifully presented on a plate decorated with “Happy Birthday.” This moment perfectly reflected the care, warmth, and attention that made the entire experience so special.
Highly recommended and without a doubt, we will be back!“
