“Yukashi is Kaiseki cuisine at its finest and well deserving of its Michelin star. We have travelled Japan and every time we dine at Yukashi, it transports us right back to the best places we ate in Japan. The chef is understated, humble and funny and we enjoy his company.
For me personally, the mark of great Kaiseki is how good the Dashi based broth is. His soups hit the mark every single time, full of umami but very balanced with a touch of yuzu and sake. Last night the sashimi dish included hay-smoked Hamachi which was absolutely delicious. A permanent special is the torched Miyazaki wagyu/uni/foie gras which is decadent. Midway through the course is a tray of finger size foods (hard to explain) which was a highlight of the multi course tasting menu.
We have been to Yukashi three times now and the food is outstanding every single time. Yukashi is our favorite Kaiseki in Toronto and we have been to all of them. The menu changes every season and there is always something new to enjoy. Also the sake menu is bulletproof and you cannot go wrong with the chef's fave selections.
Great food. Great chef. Great sake. What more can you ask for?
The best Kaiseki in town. Hands down. Do yourself a favour and go.“

“Had Valentines dinner there last night. The first dinner package was mainly sashimi but the changed it to sushi for us at a reasonable extra cost . The food was excellent and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back. An extra was that the waitress who greeted us was Japanese.“

“Hitting the jackpot feels like going to an Izakaya and liking every single dish, with the smaller portions perfect for trying a variety of delicious plates. The Karaage is one of the best in the city, juicy, juicy chicken chunks marinated into an umami-packed sauce, embalmed in a corn starch batter that's wonderfully crispy with a subtle crunch. It's then mixed with a sweet and savoury sriracha sauce and served with a side of mayo. A low and slow braise renders the fat melty and the meat practically falling apart before it enters your mouth. The sticky sauce is a wonderful balance of sweet balsamic soy glaze with a kick of horseradish and a fragrance of shishito peppers.
Corn season is already here, and I'm addicted. I like plain corn on the cob, but this was astonishing. The outside has a thin, crispy texture that pops with its sweet juices and fragrant, clean-tasting fry oil. The Nagoya ramen has no way of tasting bad either, with the intensity of the chilli oil and sesame seeds in the chicken broth, with soft ramen noodles to sop it all up. Service was good as well.“

“Okay, hear me out. Their ramen might not be the most "authentic" ones, but they are the one that did not make me feel "groggy" after eating. I had a lot of ramen in Toronto from famous to smaller business, but this is the one for me. I could jump, run (not advised), or be a menace instead of wanting to take a post-ramen fat nap like other places LMAO.
So, to me, I'm happy Oji Seichi existed and will continue to support them whenever I'm craving for some ramen.“

“Thank you for creating such a memorable experience for my friend and me as we celebrated our birthdays together. We truly appreciated the thoughtful surprise from the restaurant, along with the lovely photo and rose.
The ambiance was delightful—the décor, cleanliness, and overall tidiness of the space made us feel relaxed and able to fully enjoy the food. The open-kitchen concept was a wonderful touch, allowing us to immerse ourselves in traditional Japanese cooking. We were captivated by the chef’s skill, particularly the precise control of temperature and freshness with the tempura, as well as the artistry in slicing and preparation for each dish. The food presentation was beautifully simple, clean, and refreshing.
The staff were friendly and attentive, even explaining the origins of each ingredient, which added to our experience. However, we were hoping for a bit more interaction with the chef, perhaps sharing inspiration behind each dish or other unique insights.
While we appreciated the quality and variety of ingredients, we did feel that the menu leaned a bit toward the ordinary for a high-end omakase experience, apart from some standout items like the tilefish and shirako. We expected a few more unique ingredients given the price point, though the different cooking methods were enjoyable.
One small point of confusion was the dessert; there was an additional charge for melon, grapes, and persimmon. This was unexpected for a high-end restaurant experience.
Thank you again for the experience!“

“Shoushin was one of the best Omakase experiences I've had outside of Japan hands down. Excellent service that can rival any fine dining establishment. The sake list was extensive and well thought. The food was perfectly timed and seasoned to perfection. Each piece of nigiri showcased the chef's personality. The perfect rice to accompany the perfectly prepared fish. If you're looking for an intricately prepared sushi roll this may not be your kind of restaurant. If you're looking for more traditional and simple flavors that showcase the fish and seasonality, this is the restaurant for you.“

“Having lived in Japan, and others parts of Asia for almost 20 years, where the Omakase is on a different level, I have never tried it after returning back home as I thought I would be disappointed. However, Yasu did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and superb. The sake pairing was perfect. The Caviar and Uni extra, was also fantastic. Everything from start to finish was superb. It was our 25th Anniversary dinner and it was one of the best meals I've had since returning to Toronto. Dinner for two about 800, so bit pricey but definitely worth it!!!“

“If you’re looking for a very casual but delicious spot for sushi, this is a good one! Excellent vegetarian options, both for sushi and entrees. I got the teriyaki tofu bento box, and the inari sushi was absolutely scrumptious. The atmosphere and vibes aren’t anything special, but the waitstaff are kind, attentive, and the food came reasonably quickly. Overall… yum!“

“Went with my colleagues during lunchtime. Not really a big ramen person and I didn’t even know this place existed. It’s weird since I frequent some of the restaurants on Queen St, even the Indian restaurant beside it!
Service was pretty good, food was fast to come after ordering. The portions are hearty especially the Karaage Chicken. It looked expensive on the menu and we were expecting the small typical pieces but they are huge! (No wonder it was priced the way it was). Quality of the chicken was good- properly seasoned and not greasy.
The ordered normal noodles and should have got it softer. (Personal preference). I added vegetables to my ramen as an extra add on. Condiments that come with it add extra flavour.
Will come again.“

“Good and affordable. Many restaurants raise prices over last few years. Stuu stuu went the opposite direction and adjusted the offering. The curry is still great and filling, with a bit less meat than before at a price hard to find elsewhere. No more beef stews.Unlike most Japanese curry places, Stuu stuu curry includes vegetables mixed in, a bit sweet, really adds to the flavor. One negative:The paper takeout bags cannot hold much weight. Even when double bagged, the strings from both bags broke immediately upon leaving the restaurant. That's two out of two times it happened. Luckily I brought my own bag.“

“Highly recommend for an exceptional Okonomiyaki in Toronto. Don’t listen to the folks saying it’s not the real deal, this is some solid Okinawa style Okonkmiyaki. Very filling, very satisfying, great staff. Do get the bonito flakes and try the pork on the first bat, then come back for the curry.“

“Went here for my birthday with my grandma.
There is a japanese bar-like ambiance that is very cozy and comfortable to be in.
We ordered a lot, staff was extremely friendly, service was fast and very high quality despite the large volume of people during that time.
The food is to die for, everything is beautifully crafted, tastes amazing, and definitely stands out from all the sushi restaurants I’ve been to.
The type of food you get full with but don’t feel heavy afterwards!“

“Kaminari is undeniably one of my fav new spots in Parkdale. The ramen is always delicious and I have always recommended many friends to try it out since it's Opening.
Had an amazing Duck umami soy ramen yesterday in their heated patio for lunch.
Recommend checking it out any time of the year, they rotate their menus during the seasons and sometimes have pop up events like Oden night.
Also there is bartender that is pretty cool, socialable and adorable the last few times we've eaten there in the evenings!
Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian ramen. In the summer the had yuzu chilled soupless ramen also that was superb ?
Kid-friendliness: I've taken my 7 yr old nephew here that loved it. For toddlers the outdoor patio will provide sufficient space to place a stroller“
