“Hate that I found this place because I will only want to eat here from now on. Loved the food options and look forward to try new things in the menu. We tried the bang bang broccoli, cauliflower wings, tuna sushi roll, summer rolls, and the pasta. All delicious. Service is the best I’ve in experienced in Toronto. Atmosphere is clean and calming.“

“As the name suggests, you will find the best snacks here. Special attention to the extremely fresh oysters, the perfect steak tartare with just the right amount of super crispy bread, and even a very tasty spicy tuna temaki. I would come back every week.“

“We had the best experience at Madrina. We ordered the 11 course tapas with wine pairing. Our server Mays was knowledgeable, entertaining and prompt while servicing our table inside and tables outside. The manager, Ishaan checked on us frequently making us feel at home. When you consider the amount of courses and wine the price point was more than reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant. Paella for the win!“

“I live up north and few times a year I have to drive my son to Scotia arena’s different events, and every time I’m waiting for him in this bar for few hours. It’s a pure pleasure. It’s one of my favorite spots for relaxing in downtown. Ambience, music and service, food and specifically drinks, cocktails are top notch. I simply love being there, it’s so welcoming and I repeat that ambience is exquisite. Bartender Bary is Simply The Best“

“This place this everything!!! Excellent food, amazing staff and an overall experience that rocked our world! ❤️❤️❤️“
“Amazing mixed paella (ordered ahead). As good or better as what I've had in Spain with fresh mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari, (proper) Spanish chorizo and chicken. very authentic (my 6 year old loved it also). They also recommended a nice dry white wine to go with it. Picked up some imported chorizo and manchego for later 🤤.“
“I can’t say enough about our stay. I came to Toronto for surgery and had anxiety about the stay. They reached out to me numerous times to make sure I had a smooth stay. They even accommodated another night on short notice due to some complications that I had. Taylor, Nisha, Luis and everyone we came in contact with were stars in my books. They went above and beyond for my stay and I can’t thank them enough. Also the basket of bath products with a thoughtful letter was just lovely and blew me away. Have already told many people about this hotel and definitely will be back! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sabrina C“

“Walked in on a Thursday evening with my wife and 10-month old (they don’t take resos for groups less than 5). Place was packed. About a 25 minute wait for a table. Service was solid - they checked our stroller and the staff felt warm and friendly. Ambience is great. Lot of fun decorations and good music. We ordered the calamari, risotto balls, gnocchi, and ossobuco. I was super excited for the food to come. It was a decent meal; just no WOW factor and the seasoning was lacking. For example, the ossobucco was meat in gravy with a couple of mushrooms — I would strongly consider serving that dish with something starchy (like mashed potatoes or polenta) for balance. I’d come back to give it another chance if in the area.“

“Excellent food and service in a great location that is surprisingly larger than it looks. A patio right on the street, another in the grotto like entrance give a unique indoor/outdoor experience without feeling like you're sitting on the sidewalk. The inside has smaller rooms that can be cozy or allow large groups like the 15 or so they seated for a party I attended. The wait staff was attentive without being crowding, just the right combination of taking care of your experience and giving you space to enjoy it. Would definitely recommend and will return without a doubt.“

Also note that this location hosts two business; Bar Sampo (@sampo_toronto) in the evenings, and Ohiru Cafe in the mornings and afternoons, for delicious breakfasts and brunches.
On the menu:

“A cozy place with an old fashioned diner design. Great service, friendly staff who actually explain and describe the food when you have questions, even if they don’t know the answer they will ask and comeback with an answer.
Burgers were good but I felt it had too much relish. The stuffed wings were great, juicy and tasty.
Karage chicken was moist crispy and flavourful.
Overall it’s a great place to catchup with friends and enjoy some snacks.“

“I have rated it 5 stars since we have been loving it since we found it the food is great and amazing service (update years later it's consistently amazing). Today however we went getting our normal food but we tried their lovely fried calamari which we don't usually get. We told the waitress that my sister had a nut allergy and soon after we got the calamari after chowing down my sister got a allergy attack and we had to bring her home. As it turns out the calamari had almonds so we had to go. They did not charge us, it was just unfortunate there was a miscommunication but they handled it really well they gave us a gift card and invited us back and apologized. We still go there to this day. I definitely recommend it!“

“So glad we chose to try this Izakaya, this is by far one of the best we've tried! Flavor is on point for all the dishes we ordered. I just want to emphasize the pork belly skewers Sanmainiku as it was perfectly seasoned and grilled! Anyone wanting to try this place should make reservations as walking in might result in a bit of a wait. Will definitely go back try more of their offerings“

“This spot was a total hit! I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. I really liked the tomato cocktail they had as today’s special, it was very unique. The chicken skin was really tasty and the mackerel fish was done very well. There was also an uni udon today that I also thought was quite delicious. The price for everything was also very reasonable!“

“TLDR: Taking the food AND the overall experience into account, this is by far one of the best higher-end restaurants I have been to in Toronto. Make sure to go. I went w my Spanish boyfriend and he was blown away, so it has at least one stamp of authenticity :) haha
Food
Ordered for 2 ppl: Sangria, Mixed Croquettes, Garlic Shrimp, Bread and Garlic Aioli, Chicken and Rabbit Paella
Sangria was delicious, great balance of 'juice' to wine haha. The apples were so sweet!
The pic attached only contains 2 out of the 4 croquettes we got. One croquette was creamy and rich, one was lighter. Both were delicious. The breading wasn't super thick and crunchy, which we both really liked. All other croquettes we've tried so far have thicker, crispier breading, which kinda distracts from the filling. These were perfect!
I spent the entire night obsessing over the garlic shrimp. They were cooked to PERFECTION. I always accidentally overcook shrimp so I was so impressed by the texture AND taste. And I love the dish it was served in. I want to learn how to recreate the shrimp so badly.
I'm really glad we got the bread and aioli as well, we kept making bread, aioli, olive oil and shrimp 'open faced sandwiches' ? The garlic aioli was seriously perfect, I've had aioli that's overly salty or slightly sour. This had a perfect balance of flavour.
Finally, the paella was a wonderful entree. You can see that we attacked it before we remembered to take pictures. One portion was more than enough for us. I enjoyed scraping (and eating) the socarrat. The rabbit was a little 'gamey' for me but that has nothing to do w how it was made, I'm just not used to it. The chicken was great.
We had a bit of leftovers of everything (except the sangria ?). We could've ordered one less thing but I'm glad we sampled as much as we did. I want to return w a bigger group to try more tapas out. They were out of a few items by the time we got there (8pm), but it wasn't an issue.
Service
There was only one server working. He was also the one who greeted us AND was bartending. It was so impressive. He was so friendly and informative. We were indecisive about whether one portion of Paella + one tapa would be enough for us, and he gave us the suggestion to get the bread + garlic aioli w the garlic shrimp, because they're a great pair. Boy was he right. I hope we can see him again if we get a chance to return!
Atmosphere
The restaurant is sooo cute, I can't get over it. The lighting was perfect for a date night WITHOUT being super dim. Rare find in Toronto lol. The decorations were so cute.“

“Learned about this place from Too Good To Go app and decided to come here for lunch with a friend. It is a little hard to spot since it is hidden in a small street. We heard this place just open a month ago, so might explain why the place wasn't too busy. Good for us, since we could sit by the cozy lounge area. I got the Avocado Toast, and my friend the Mediterranean Cauliflower. The Toast was super balanced and beautiful (and so much avocado!). The Cauliflower had a lot of components and was very filling. We both agreed the food was 10/10. if you coming for Cocktail, would recommend the Amethyst and the Carribean Sour!“

“Not a bad note at any time. Monica is a very good server who is knowledgeable, engaging but not smothering. There when needed. The food is inventive and so tasty. Small bites. Two of us ordered five dishes and loved them all. The sommelier, Tessa, makes an amazing Arancello (better than Limoncello)! Her wine list is interesting and extensive, covering most types and regions, but we would have liked more bottles from Ontario, although the ones provided are all really good. We shall be back.“

“I recently visited Clockwork for a beautiful tea for a close friend's big birthday celebration. There was a great selection of teas and delicious treats, including gluten-free and nut-free options for those with dietary restrictions. The atmosphere was perfect, and everyone had a wonderful time. Before the tea, I emailed Elise to make sure everything was perfect. She was very lovely and accommodating. The staff members Gemma and Leah were nice but also incredibly attentive, making our celebration even more special. The whole experience was great. I would highly recommend it!“

“I don't know what you did but the pizza was significantly better than last time, not too much cheese and the crispy cracker like crust is perfect! Had the buschetta to start and it was rich with flavour and very fresh. The service is impeccable with attentive staff and very friendly. Atmosphere is nice with a view of the water, quiet background music not overbearing. 10/10 would come here with the family again.“

“We had never been before and chose the restaurant because we were seeing a play at the Canadian Stage on Berkeley street. The food was amazing. We had the Lebanese taco (falafel), Reyna salad, lamb baklava and cauliflower croquet … wow was delicious. Saffron baklava for dessert. Small plates so you can try a few things to share even with two people. A must try, we will be back“
“My friends and I went to Supermarket Bar and Variety for their Chappell Roan night. They played all the OGs and showcased local drag talent. “Incredible. Let's just start out with the vibe. Immaculate lighting and interior, like an old library/bar with an almost romantic woodsy feel.
The service was great, attentive, all of it.
Where this place made my day, was the food. The lamb ribs were one of the best bites of food I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, everything else was fantastic, but the lamb ribs BLEW my mind.
Order 2 of them.“
