“Clearly a local haunt based on who we same come through and where we got the recommendation. The food was great (loved the curry soup!). Definitely sit at the bar adjacent to the cooking area to watch the process, all steam cooking, exclusively electric, and the owners are very friendly.“
“I'm a southeast Alaskan and I've grown up on seafood most of my life. This is now my most favorite seafood restaurant! Absolutely wonderful food! All the stars for the service, food, atmosphere and view! Thank you Local Ocean, I'll absolutely be back next time I come to Oregon.“
“The best place in Newport Oregon on the Oregon coast to have their chili and their clam chowder. Their food is excellent there service and staff is very quick very very nice people love this place go there all the time every chance I get I highly recommend the chili little spicy for some people but it's the best thing you can get on an nice cold rainy dayParking: There's a parking lot just west of the business of the chowder bowl it's parking for the state park or the beach Access to Nye Beach .Kid-friendliness: Kids menu great food for kids and very friendly kids atmosphereWheelchair accessibility: Easy access to wheelchair to get into the building wheelchair handicap parking west of business in State Park parking lot“
“Zach's Bistro was a revelation. We were expecting a rather ordinary meal and received the most interesting and well-prepared meal that I have had in years. I say "interesting" in the sense that everything had something unexpected or a twist on the usual that was both wonderful and surprising.Best of all, everything was gluten free and safe for me to eat.The chestnut soup, clam chowder, fried market fish, potatoes, squash, and perfectly cooked broccolini were all terrific. Even the butter tasted more "buttery" than any we've ever had. There seemed to be an excessive use of sprouts as garnish for my taste, but I'm not a fan of sprouts in any form. The food was served at the right temperatures and the main course plates were warmed. (I appreciate that very much.)The decor is unexceptional and the ambience is a bit spare, but the music was delightful and at a nice low volume, unlike too many places. The bill was surprisingly low for the quality of food and service we received. We plan to come down to Newport more often just to enjoy Zach's Bistro.Highly recommended.Dietary restrictions: Zach's Bistro is an excellent place for celiacs and the gluten intolerant. The whole menu was gluten free on the night that we were there.“
“The chef here is so creative! They make their own mustard, it's excellent, I wish they sold it bottled. Husband and I have tried different dishes and all have been good like fish n chips, burger, salad, quesadillas. Pretzels and pickle chips are great starters. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!Parking: Huge lot for parking and is walking distance to historic Bay front“
“The food was OUTSTANDING! We are visiting Newport for a week and this was our best meal by far! My husband got the fish & chips. I fish was fresh and the portion was huge. The fries are thick cut and seasoned well. Delicious. I ordered the fish tacos. Fresh corn tortillas, huge amounts of fresh grilled fish and delicious slaw/ cilantro cream sauce on top. Best fish tacos I have ever had. You gotta try the pickle fries, too!“
“I have to admit that the clam chowder that they have is the best I have tried in newport and in the west coast. Although a little more thick (a signature for oregon), it challenges classic SF's fisherman's wharf clam chowder. Portions may seem a bit small, but they are incredibly filling!“
“I. LOVED. IT. ALL...food, service, ambiance. I consume a lot of ramen and the ramen here is the best I've had in Oregon. To each their own opinion & palet of course BUT they use quality ingredients and the chef really knows what up with food and the kitchen. (real life foodie here!) Cocktails slapped too! All the compliments Asiatico. Keep serving up delicious greatness!“
“Really enjoyed our dining experience. Black cod and the pacific salmon were delicious. The fresh vegetables and the saffron rice was perfectly cooked. Maria was a great server. They need to up their wine list game though. Very few selections and needs more OR/WA wineries represented.“
“Wow! Crazy good! ?? After years, I finally had a meal there for the first time. Ordered the coconut crusted prawns with the mango salsa. ?? After I was done licking my plate, I had to stop myself from placing another order! The dipping sauce!!! I dreamed of that last night! ??“
“We ate at Dockside Mo's and it was as good as I was 17 years ago when we first started going here. They changed how you order so you now order at the door which is more efficient but I kinda liked the old service style. Great views of the bay. Thanks for the Veterans Discount Mo's!“
“This is one place that I know that serves whole crab! I love crab! Anyway, the food was great especially the clam chowder! At the time we walked in there was only a small table available which we found out later wasn't going to be big enough for both me and my partner's meal so the server kindly offered to move us to a bigger table that was available shortly before being served our food. I recommend this stop for any meal of the day!“
“We loved, loved, loved our waiter. And the hostess was awesome. However, given that we had a reservation and had to wait 30-40 minutes past that reservation time, standing around, UGH. That was difficult with a group of 8 and only a few chairs for waiting and them being filled. The food was awesome of course! And, we had our BEST EVER waiter at LO this visit. A super nice guy, who was friendly and funny -- that has not always been the case with prior wait service making you feel unwelcomed -- this was quite different this time and it was really nice! We brought 6 people with us from out of town, and other than the long wait (even though we had reservation) - the night was great and everyone enjoyed the food tremendously and of course, we will continue to bring our out of town guests, but I hope the reservation can actually work out where we can be seated within 10-15 minutes of reservation, not 30-40. THE HOSTESS IS AWESOME. What a great attitude and patience working the front desk! Wow...“
“Love it! Been here so many times in my life and it never disappoints. Small changes have occurred over the years, but the new owners have worked hard to keep standards high and grow from there. Popcorn shrimp are a family fav, but I still branch out a little every time to great pleasure. Next time you're down enjoying waterfront, plan on a bite here!“
“The food was absolutely fantastic for the price that you're paying. Coffee was hot. Soda came in a can but that's fine! The server seemed a little young and kind of forgot a couple of things, but that is totally fine since she had other customers in the place. The building is also very small close quarters. You can see the kitchen from where you are eating which is so fun. I love that aspect of the restaurant. They also had music on that wasn't your normal run of the mill diner music. It was actually entertaining and you didn't have to listen to conversations around the diner because it was so quiet. Very awesome place for breakfast. Would highly recommend and come next time we're here. Thank you!! ❤️❤️“
“Always try to hit this place when we go to Newport. Not sure if we just lucked into finding he best items on the menu, but the Crawfish Etouffee and Artichoke Parmesan Rockfish are so good we haven't been brave enough to try anything else.“
“The food here felt healthier than other Chinese places I've been to in the past. The vegetables were fresh and the food wasn't overloaded with food coloring. That being said, my Kung Pao tofu could have used more flavor. The vegetable fried rice was pretty good. As per the other reviews, the fried shrimp is amazing! The outside of the building is interesting to look at. I like it. Inside, it's well lit but the booths seem like they could use replacing or refurbishing. The lotto rooms were clean, as were the bathrooms which isn't as common as it should be.The service was awesome. I had two servers who were extremely attentive. My drink was never empty and the food came out quickly.I'm not sure I'll be enthusiastic to go back, but the food gets the job done if you're hungry. It was also reasonably priced.Vegetarian options: There are classic Chinese dishes made vegetarian, including vegetarian hot pot! (I did not confirm meat-veggie cross contamination but the menu says they accommodate vegans so I'd expect that they don't cross contaminate).“
“I forgot to ask for our server’s name but she was so great!! We recently had a bad experience at a different restaurant, and MO’s just redeemed our lost appetite. Server was so accommodating to our 9 month old baby, and gave her a little souvenir that I will forever cherish. I highly recommend this place, not only for their chowder, but all the food in their menu is so good!!Kid-friendliness: Offered high chairs and had coloring pages for kids.“
“The waitress had was alone on shift and juggled being a hostess, busser and one of the best servers I've ever seen. The company should do more to support her as she's sure to get snatched up quick. Great food and the environment was gorgeous!“
“My wife and I have driven by Szabo's many times, and we finally dropped in recently. Across the street from the road to Yaquina Head Lighthouse, it reminded me of a roadhouse from the outside. The food is excellent, and it's not just seafood. We will definitely go again.“
“Received top notch service from José. He was patient, kind and informative. Love how down to earth he was. Even the hostess asked if we wanted to be seated with José the second time we went because of our interaction with him. The atmosphere was nice (customers, staff, restaurant and the waterfalls on the window). The food was good enough that I returned again. I really enjoyed the cod with their tarter sauce; best tarter sauce I've ever had. The seafood pasta also wasn't bad, I learned it's a crowd favorite. I recommend this place.“
