“My girlfriend and I stopped by the cart today and got the Street Mac. We both love a good cheesey and sorta soupy mac. The street mac is their take on Street Corn Elote with mac and cheese and it was DELICIOUS. We got just the regular portion and it was big enough on its own for us to share. Good price for it too, $15. The guy who was working also seemed really polite, my girlfriend, who ordered, said he was very formal and kind. We wanna come back and try the fried mac and cheese and check out even more of their other options.“

“This place is a gem. It has a welcoming atmosphere with a blend of vintage and modern decor. High quality, delicious specials and drinks, relaxing live music and a sweet little corner bistro atmosphere. The proprietors made me feel like they wanted me to stick around for awhile. Definitely the kind of place where one could become a regular with ease.“

“Excited to try out a new Thai place in portland. I had the opportunity to eat outside, which was lovely. I ordered the fried chicken in basil sauce, yellow curry, and a iced tea with coconut milk. The food was delicious.“

“Their dumplings are really good. I like them with all the fixings plus vinegar. The sparkling water from the country of Georgia is a unique treat to have with the meal, though it has a unique kind of mineraly and salty taste, which I like but may not be for everyone.“

“Disclaimer: the 5 stars are strictly my review of the food and the customer service given by the employees at BaoBao. My experience with the owner is a different story. If I could, I would rate that separately at 1 star. Read below for my reasoning…

The employees at BaoBao have routinely provided top-tier customer service and the food has been absolutely delicious every time I’ve dropped in. This has been one of my favorites (if not my favorite) dumpling spot in pdx. I’ve regularly enjoyed coming here to study and grab something to eat or drink (the rose tea lemonade coupled with the soup dumplings is my fave combo). It definitely helps that every time I’ve come in the employees have been super kind and friendly.

However, I am saddened to write that my experience with the owner has been uncomfortable and disappointing to say the least. As a masc queer woman who has been enjoying the food and ambiance of this business regularly I was hurt by the actions made by the owner: her moving to throw away my drink when I stepped out for a second, the gossip multiple employees told me was happening behind the scenes regarding customers (including myself), and my own personal experience with hostile disapproving looks in my direction. To my knowledge, no one else has experienced this. Furthermore, I was offended to learn that the owner had insinuated that I was only frequenting the business to try and “date”an employee. The fact is that baobao became a regular spot to study at, coupled with the fact that an employee became a friend. There was absolutely no need for the owner to question my sexuality or question an employee about a paying customer’s sexuality. As a frequent customer who loved BaoBao for the food, ambiance, and friendly staff not only was this very offensive and inappropriate but it was very saddening as well. I have not brought any of my queer friends back here and will be taking my business somewhere I feel appreciated. I can’t deny that this was one of my favorite dumpling spots in pdx, but I feel the need to distance myself from the uncomfortable environment it has become for me.“

“Came here one night after every other Philly Cheesesteak place was closed and can honestly say it was worth the 17 minute drive into Milwaukie. My son is an extremely picky eater and said it was THE BEST CHEESESTEAK he had ever had. The fries were amazing too; light, crispy and not greasy at all. We have returned 4 times now over the past 2 weeks and this goodcart is now our favorite go-to for delicious fresh made to order. The Lamb Gyro is beyond compare, and the TriMeat Combo has some of the best saffron rice and hummus I have ever tasted. There is something here for everyone, even burgers and dogs or nuggies for the kids. As for service? The gentleman working behind the window pays such close attention to detail and every aspect of food prep that it tastes like it came from someone’s familial kitchen. Be warned that there may be a wait if you arrive while other orders are in process since it is only 1 guy doing it all, but if you do it will be well worth it.“

“Found this place in this neat little food pod spot that might be my new favorite, the food was great and the guy working was very friendly too. We even got an Oreo in each of our chips (which he doesn’t skimp on either) Definitely my new favorite grilled cheese cart!!“

“The environment was absolutely fine. Nothing too fancy but absolutely not junky. The waitress was kind. But the food was absolutely amazing! So delicious. Came really quickly nice and hot such a huge portion size that our lunch also became our dinner. Five stars for sure“

“This is a weekly thing for me , I eat a lot , but I take my reviews seriously . Food here is priced fair . $18.99 for a burger meal is good in my eyes , you actually get full and it doesn't taste like fake lab grown meat. Wait times are fair if it's a weekend maybe 20min is the worse I've seen with a group.“

“I have ordered many times from them and I love it. I can't say enough good things about them. They make some of the best Mac and Cheese. And I will keep going back time and time again.“
