“We got there for our 5 pm reservation. Very few people were there, and we thought we should have made the reservation for later. By 5:30, the place was packed! Glad we went earlier. Anyhow, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was great (even with the crowd). And the food was delicious! I'll recommend this restaurant to my friends.“

“Checked out The Victor Cafe founded in 1918, a little gem of an Italian restaurant in South Philly. All staff are also opera singers and perform an aria every 30 minutes. Also, this place was featured in Rocky Balboa and Creed as Adian's Restaurant. This place is definitely worth a visit. Recommend having a reservation.“

“I have been to many course meals, but this is the top 5 best restaurants I have ever been to. Philadelphia is so lucky to have Elma. Amazing food, incredible service and hospitality. I was reminded of childhood meals and reveled in the incredible blend of flavors and textures. I will absolutely be coming back to dine at the incredible Elma.“

“Amazing food - overwhelmed moody waitress.
Clams casino, roasted peppers app, & pesto bread to die for! The cocktails and entrees were absolutely delicious! Perfect food! Only gripe is that our waitress (younger blonde female) made it beyond obvious she was overwhelmed and annoyed having to serve our large table. She made an extremelyyy generous tip regardless, but made us feel like a huge burden all night. Maybe she was having a bad day but with personally being a server in the past, it is part of the role to act as if you are happy to help and keep your emotions aside. I felt guilty asking her for anything as she was clearly super annoyed the entire time. Our whole table agreed. She was very knowledgeable and attentive but not very friendly at all. Eye rolling and subtle attitude all night.“

“my fiance and I were in Philly (from Maine) and she treated me to Osteria for my birthday dinner. The service was amazing throughout the meal, I wish I got the servers name as he was really an incredibly friendly young man who clearly knew the menu very well. The atmosphere is wonderful and the interior is just lovely. In terms of the food, I had the wild boar bolognese which was a special that night, and it was AMAZING!! Really, all the food was impeccable, from the focaccia to our mains. Super pleased and the next time I’m in town, I will most definitely be coming back!!“

“I’ve heard about Fiorino for so long, especially from someone who lives in Florida! I finally went and it was all they said it would be! Absolutely delicious! I asked our server what entree I should get because I couldn’t decide between 2 of them that I wanted. He said “No problem! I’ll bring you a half portion of each!” WHO does that in today’s world?! So absolutely kind and cool. I loved every single thing I had there and can’t wait to go back!“

“Came in from Denver and was craving some great Italian. They did not disappoint! Service was excellent. Food was amazing! Clams Casino and Meatballs appetizer set a high bar for the rest of the meal, and they nailed it. Seafood ala Scannichios and the NY strip longjohn were hugely portioned and delicious. Others in our party had the Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Parm and a few others- and they raved about them. Tiramisu and Bananas Foster were sublime. The owner Christian and his family really made us feel welcomed. We will definitely be back on future trips.“

“So look—when you get invited to lunch with your boss, his boss, and the big boss, you don’t come empty-headed or empty-stomached. You come ready to represent and ready to eat. We pulled up to Spasso Italian Grill in Old City, Philly—because apparently when execs break bread, they do it with taste.
Let me just say this: Spasso is him.
In a post-COVID world where most places barely remember how to do lunch right, Spasso said, “Let me show you how we used to do it when the food came from the soul and not the freezer.” Ain’t no chain energy here—this is straight Italy, no passport required.
I ordered what looked like a humble plate of linguine in red sauce with seafood, but baby, that thing hit like Sunday morning on the third stanza of Total Praise. The noodles were homemade, soft but not mushy—had that little bounce to them, like they was tryna two-step in the sauce. And the sauce? Rich. Simple. Tomato-forward. Tasted like somebody’s auntie been simmerin’ it since 9am with the windows open and a Luther Vandross playlist on repeat.
The seafood wasn’t stingy either. Full chunks of flavor in every bite. Not chopped up mystery meat. This was seafood with a name and a résumé.
Even the bread came with style—roasted red peppers, parmesan, oil, and some lil marinated veggies that honestly made me pause and reflect on how blessed I was. That bread alone deserved a praise break.
Then came the cappuccino… listen. It showed up with a lil’ foam hat, cinnamon dusted on top like it had somewhere special to be. Smooth, comforting, and grown. No sugar needed. Just vibes.
We did have cannolis too—but I ain’t get a pic ‘cause the moment was too good to interrupt with a phone. Just know it was crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and balanced like a good choir director. Sweet—but not too sweet.
Would I go again? Without a doubt.
Should you go? Only if you’re ready for real Italian food and not that reheated stuff folks try to pass off in the microwave.
Spasso is where you go when you want lunch to mean something. When you wanna eat food that got memory, history, and respect in it. Ain’t nothin’ fancy—just food done right, with care and culture.
That’s my kind of spot.“

“The homemade pasta is really excellent. The texture was perfectly toothsome. I got the cacio e pepperoncini (vegan option) and it was quite good, though the sauce wasn’t my favorite. It felt very oily and I’m not sure if that’s a product of veganizing the sauce. I loved the tangy spice of the pepperoncini though.
The shishito peppers were good, but fairly standard blistered peppers like I’ve had at many other restaurants. The almond / mint sauce was quite nice though.
The plates are generously portioned.
Vegetarian options: They have a few vegetarian options that are clearly labeled. They also have clear labels for dishes that can be made vegetarian or vegan.“

“Gorgeous location, great service, and most importantly the food is amazing. I fervently wish Irwin’s existed in my hometown as I’m sure I would become a regular. As it is, I will definitely be going back the next time I’m in Philly. The setting, on the 8th floor of an old school building, is extremely cool and aesthetic and they styled the space beautifully with lots of plants. The view is wonderful. I went with a friend and we shared a “girl dinner” of four desserts followed by pasta. I keep thinking about the gelato I had, which was flavored with sweet cream and topped with a layer of honey and a mound of pistachios. The sweet and salty combination was amazing. Another standout was the orange olive oil torte with a bay leaf-infused cream. The lemon pasta was simple with a depth of flavor and strong umami. The bathroom also gets excellent lighting for selfies. Highly recommend.“

“I had dinner at La Sera the other day and was impressed. The appetizers were delicious--we had the calamari, cozze, and mushrooms. All were delicious, but the mushrooms were phenomenal. For entrees, our table had the ribeye, veal ripieno, spaghetti and meatballs, and ravioli rosa. Everyone loved their food.
And I must give a special shout out to Meritan. I realized the next day that I left my hat at the restaurant and I had already left for the airport to return to Florida. I connected with Meritan who I coordinated with to have it shipped to my house.
In all, La Sera offers delicious food and service from good people. I will certainly be back.“
