“Excellent food. Reasonable pricing. And it’s BYOB which we love. We had the full gamut: seafood risotto, pasta bolognese and lamb chops. Everything was great. We were all very happy. Yes the Caesar salad was very small for the $11 price tag but it’s delicious. Atmosphere is semi casual and relaxed. The tables are spread out by 5 or 6 feet. This keeps noise down, gives staff and guests enough room to walk around, etc.This is a huge plus compared to so many other places. I also noticed how clean the kitchen was and how well behaved the staff were. No personal conversations or goofing off that is common at other restaurants. Everyone was very professional and attentive. I highly recommend this place.“

“There are a lot of things I love about the food you sell. Great cheese selection though I notice it is getting smaller. I love the bread and rolls, however I have noticed the baugettes have shrunk about 10" and the seeded ones are thinner and overcooked. Love the tomato pie but its taste is not as good as it was a year ago. Roasted peppers are always a favorite along with the sesame chicken and chicken salad and soups. I am disappointed that you no longer carry Serano prosciutto, that was the best, now I have to go elsewhere to get it!“

“Clean and uncluttered interior. Very nicely decorated with simple Italian vibe. Veal done perfectly and not overcooked. Salmon had a great crust while still moist. Tiramisu, homemade perfection. Excellent wine suggestion for the meal. Compliments to hostess and the chef!“

The service was amazing throughout the meal, I wish I got the servers name as he was really an incredibly friendly young man who clearly knew the menu very well. The atmosphere is wonderful and the interior is just lovely. In terms of the food, I had the wild boar bolognese which was a special that night, and it was AMAZING!! Now live in Key West for last 30 years but specifically make sure each time I come up to see family I go to Villa Di Roma, clams casino, asparagus, gravy and the people there that run it all family. “I used Johnny Paisano’s to cater a holiday party. I had an amazing experience from the very beginning. I spoke with Christine who helped me place the order, and helped me to decide the best options for my menu. One of my options was a prime rib, where I received a phone call from Johnny himself to help me figure out the best way to prepare it for the party. When it was time to retrieve the food on the day of the party, everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. Johnny once again came out and was talking with me about the food. I appreciate this aspect of a business, it makes you feel like you’re in a friendly environment, rather than a sterile kitchen. The food quality was amazing. Every platter was delicious, and every guest was happy with how the food turned out. The prime rib was the largest hit, not surprisingly. I couldn’t believe the value of everything as well. “Too difficult to buy a cup of coffee here, the coffee ordering set up should be in the front, not the back and why is it so dark in the back? I want to like this place but it has no vibe…just the sight of staffers running around. The Hostess always looks bored and the back is like a madhouse. It’s one of the only places to get a cup of coffee ☕ near to Rittenhouse Park but where it’s well lit, it’s a quiet upscale grocery shop but the back feels like you’ve entered a subway station at rush hour!

Not sure what the remedy is but I’d suggest that you open up the front space, remove the annoying velvet rope and stop putting “reserved” signs on all of the tables (just sit people there who want to enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes). This is a beautiful spot, but boy does it stress me out once you walk in the back.

Put on Italian music and hire some drop dead gorgeous guy or gal who knows how to convey ITALIAN WARMTH to customers!!! Every time I walk in the hostess is shy. She should be greeting guests and be IN FRONT, not planted at the podium.

We preceded to reminisce about family in Upstate NY,, of course food rolled into the conversation,. That’s how I came across Nonna Lena’s Italian Cuisine. I stopped by the restaurant by myself a couple of later.. Thought I’d get a quick lunch fix. Wrong! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I the chief my plate of Eggplant Parmesan. What a wonderful freshly made dinner (plus leftovers for 2 extra meals). The staff all were very friendly. Chiefly came out to see how I liked my meal. He shared some details about the newly open restaurant & homemade recipes, etc. He mentioned breakfast was also served and somehow in the conversation he decided to send me home with a sample of sausages & gravy along with my husbands meal. OMGoodness, the next day my breakfast was fantastic. Foodie’s note. Their food is prepared fresh from scratch daily😊. Don’t past by Colonial Beach Va. without dinning at Nonna Lena’s Italian several times.“
