“Gift Horse has been on our list for a while every time we visit Providence, and I am so glad we finally made it in. It was so good.
We came after dinner for some light bites and drinks, but honestly, I wish we had come here for a full dinner instead. The monkfish toast was fantastic, the oysters were incredibly fresh, and the martini was exactly what I wanted. 🍸
Even though we only came in for a few bites, everything made me want to come back and experience the full menu. This is definitely going on my list for our next Providence trip. A great spot for dinner, drinks, or just a few really good things at the bar. 🦪“

“Dan and I both grew up in Bangkok, and when we were teenagers, our respective families would take us to French restaurants. One of the dishes we both remember vividly was steak au poivre—perfectly cooked steak with that incredible creamy, brandy-peppercorn sauce. It was absolutely fantastic.
Ever since, we’ve been on a relentless quest to find steak au poivre that tastes the way we remember it.
We’ve tried it in Quebec. We’ve tried it all over New England and New York. We even tried it in France. Some have been good, some very good—but that traditional French flavor, especially that sauce, has always been just a little off.
Until last night. After decades of searching, we finally found it.
The steak. The whole peppercorns. The cream. The brandy. That rich, unmistakable sauce we’ve been chasing since Bangkok.
One bite and we looked at each other: THIS is it.
And where did we finally find the steak au poivre we’ve been searching for all these years?
The Capital Grille.
And it wasn’t just the steak. The creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin and creamed corn were all fabulous—and the bread was to die for. It was one of those meals where absolutely everything on the table was delicious.
And a special shout-out to our server, Pablo, who was exceptional and made an already wonderful dinner even better.“

“Maria's Cucina hosted our recent wedding reception. I made arrangements with the previous owner and was blind-sided to learn that he had sold the restaurant one month prior to our wedding. I met with new owners Raymond and Brynn and they were both outstanding. They immediately made us comfortable that they were prepared to make our wedding reception a beautiful and memorable event. And WOW did they deliver. The food was excellent, the service truly top-notch, and it is a stunning and classy venue. Our waiter Paul was exceptional. Providence is blessed to have such an outstanding restaurant for all to enjoy.“

“Outstanding meal! There were 7 of us for a family gathering (we met in the middle for CT + MA family) and everything about our dinner was exceptional! The food, the wine, the calamari + dip, the bread, the olive oil + balsamic dip were all delicious, but the lobster ravioli and caramel gelato were to die for. Omg! Our server was perfect too. We will be back. Thank you!“

“We visited Honey Bird back in June. The chicken was outstanding so moist and flavorful. The drinks also did not disappoint, the ingredients blend together so well and zero hang over headache. My 6 year had yummy Mac & cheese with fries.“
“The part of me that wants everyone to feel what it's like eat at your nonna's house where they think you are the greatest thing that ever happened, triumphed over the part of me that wants to keep this place a secret so there isn't a line out the door every day. Giovanna clearly knew what she thought each of us should eat but tried hard to not let it show "but, eat what you want...." She was excited in the way only a Napolitana can be when we chose her recommendations, osso bucco for Mike and lobster raviolo for me. It was amazing food wrapped in a childhood memory.“

“Our entire experience was excellent. Our party loved their dishes. Each course was created to perfection. Our waiter Julio exuded great customer service and exhibited a 'can do' attitude, was attentive, knew his menu items and most of all his enjoyment being a server was exhibited. Job well done, for a great dining experience.“
“Was in town for a weekend on leisure and loved everything about this place. Ambience, music, the pear and honey margarita was a highlight. Special shoutout to Bianca, who handled the Saturday rush seamlessly and has an infectious personality. You could tell she brings the best out of her clientele and colleagues.“

“It has been a while since last time I got to enjoy this restaurant. I am glad to report thag the food, service, staff and atmosphere are still the best in Rhode Island! I finally got to introduce my fiancé to this wonderful establishment and see her eyes light up, tasting everything we ordered!“
“I’ve been here a few times for both food & drinks. Interior is so so charming, I feel like I’m transported to a charming cafe/bar in Europe when I step inside. The food is great, I’ve tried a couple of sandwiches on their menu as well as the focaccia. Only issue is that I’ve had more unpleasant experiences with the staff than pleasant experiences. They’re generally very unfriendly (I might even go as far as to describe them as cold!) and slow. They either need to take customer service training, or remove the option to tip at the counter. Maybe this is my problem in that I need to be more comfortable with not tipping when the service is bad.
Despite the bad service, I really really want Sawyer’s to succeed. Providence lacks casual cafes / lunch spots, and Sawyer’s helps to fill that gap. Just maybe stay away if being treated like an inconvenience by staff is a deal breaker for you.“

“Last night at Flemings... I've had one of the best steaks I've had in years.....I'm a former chef and as a chef I look for all aspects in a restaurant...My wife recommended Fleming's due to the fact that she went there in Florida...we had the most attentive waitress by the name of Jocelyn. I'll never forget her. plus the rest of the staff will also so attentive. I really appreciate that you rarely find that in restaurants nowadays...I will be back....FIVE STARS IN MY OPINION“

“Every dish is delicious. I ordered Veal Picatta over Bowties..it was incredible. Their pizzas and Calzones are terrific too. I've never been disappointed with anything on the menu.“

“First time as was in town from Newport to see Little Jagged Pill at PPAC. Bartender (Tim?) was excellent friendly, knowledgeable on menu and made great handcrafted drinks. Manager (she moved here from NYC) was also excellent. I ordered the pork loin special, one of my friends ordered to porchetta over grits (I was a bit jealous as it was amazing. Overall a great experience.“

“We went here for the first time Friday night. Food and drinks were amazing. Wish I could remember our servers name because he was great, made excellent recommendations. We had the frutti di mare with homemade pasta and Bolognase. So good. My pear martini was the best I’ve ever had. Adffogato for dessert. Think this is our new favorite spot. Thanks for a great evening!“

“don't order online ... they take your money, never ships the product, and you never hear from them again. I'm about to call a lawyer if I don't get my $24.00 back. much faster service if you drive to RI from Florida to find a store where you can pick it up from a shelf.“

“Stopped in from out of town with no reservation and they quickly accommodated us with a most amazing dining experience. Daniela was an extraordinary server who while handling a large party was also able to keep check on us without any delays. Having true Italian foods that had such bold tastes made our trip more special. We would highly recommend Trattoria Romana as a must visit when you are in the New England area.“
