“I'm going to tell y'all about my favorite bbq joint, Back Forty Smokehouse, on Main, off Davis, in North Richland Hills. I've been going there a long time and most often, I call in an order to go, but I have also dined in. It's a very nice place and the staff is excellent. I almost always buy the manager's bbq special, their smallest family pack. For $45, you get your choice of meat (1 lb. of sliced, chopped, pork, or many more choices), 3 sides (1 pint each, beans, coleslaw, potato salad, okra, mac n cheese, fries, etc.), 5 Texas toast, pickles, onions, and choice of sauces. The sliced can be moist, lean, or mixed, they have some spicy bbq sauce available, the potato salad isn't sweet, the beans can be sweet baked beans or pintos with bacon, the coleslaw is rough cut and not sweet. These are all good attributes in my eyes. Maybe y'all will think I just don't know better but I'd put their stuff against anyone else's. The sliced is excellent, tender, smoked well, lean if you want it, more fatty if that's your deal. Went there today and got the $45 deal and once again, got enough for my wife and I to easily eat twice. You can fix 5 plates like the one in the photo. That's a regular sized dinner plate, with pintos, coleslaw, potato salad, onions, pickles and sliced brisket. I like a little sauce on mine“

I have had the opportunity to see his operation from the fire pits in the back, kitchen, and have always been highly impressed with the cleanliness of his facility. “Traditional Texas BBQ. Cafeteria-style service. Brisket tender and moist. Pork ribs were fall off the bone. Sauce is a bit thick and sweet. Traditional sides and desserts (Blue Bell ice cream for your cobbler). Beans in a tomato forward sweet sauce. Coleslaw cut was coarse and wet, which I like. Everybody talks about the fresh-baked rolls and they are right. Light and slightly yeasty. Staff brings extras around throughout dinner. Private room for large parties. Plenty of tables. And clean men's restroom.“

It's almost a historical movie to the local residents. Laid back atmosphere and they boast "the coldest beer in Ft. Worth."
