“I've gotten lunch here a few times and it's delicious every time! Great flavorful broth, lots of add-ins for the pho, and ordering has always been quick and easy. Perfect for when you're feeling a little cold or under the weather :) The service has always been great too, although I have only picked up food from here.“

“I had the grilled chicken with rice and veggies 🥗 wow so delicious 😋 any fresh! I will go back for some more soon! I also had the BBQ 🍖 pork sandwich with spring rolls for lunch another day and was also delicious. I’m sure everything else is also delicious and fresh. Go check them out and find out for yourself self. You will not be disappointed…“

“While stopping for gas, I noticed this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. I ordered the orange chicken, and both the flavor and portion size exceeded expectations. Although the dish is traditionally spicy, it seemed to cater to a milder American palate—but a touch of sriracha easily elevated the heat. The meal was delicious, and the lunch pricing was quite reasonable. I will definitely be returning soon.“

“The food was very tasty, the restaurant was very clean, the service was fast and excellent. I would definitely recommend this place for Vietnamese food.
Vegetarian options: The vegetarian pho had a variety of vegetables like bok choy, carrots, onions, mushrooms, broccoli all freshly cut (not the frozen kind), and fried tofu.“

“South by Saigon delivers bold, Southern-Vietnamese flavors with serious style, and my recent visit proved it's more than just a clever name -- it's a culinary vibe.
Let's get straight to the highlight: the crawfish. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and spicy with just the right kick -- easily some of the best I've had this season. The flavor was layered, not just heat for the sake of heat, and the portion was generous.
The catfish nuggets and fries were another solid hit. The nuggets were crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not overly greasy. Paired with the seasoned fries, it was the kind of combo that keeps you snacking past the point of full.
The lemon pepper wings were standout -- crispy, zesty, and well-balanced in seasoning. Each bite had that perfect crunch followed by a tangy burst. Definitely a repeat order.
I tried the mango slushee, which came out icy cold and super refreshing, but leaned a little too sweet for my taste. If you like your drinks on the sugary side, you'll love it, but it could use a bit of tartness or acidity to round it out.
The service was friendly, the space had a chill, welcoming feel, and the menu strikes a great balance between Vietnamese street food energy and Southern comfort.“

“This restaurant is off the chain. I’ve had pho at a lot of other places but the pho here is the absolute best Ive ever had. The broth is phenomenal. The staff there are extremely friendly and the service is top notch! You HAVE to try this place out, you’ll thank me later! 😄🤙🏼“

“Tried this place for the first time today. We were happy with the service and food & look forward to coming back again.
Service was very respectful and friendly. They give shrimp chips as a complimentary appetizer and warm che for complimentary dessert, which was an unexpected but very nice touch. It just felt like a warm, family owned, welcoming place.
I ordered Bo Luc Lac (shaking beef). It wasn't the typical seared beef cubes; it was on the saucier side which I actually really enjoyed bc it reminds me of beef dishes my mom would make. It was delicious, garlicky, and tender. Portion size was also very generous & well priced at $12.95; whereas other restaurants charge upwards of $15 and give smaller portions. Instead of serving with a side of pho broth, they serve it with canh (broth/soup) with lots of greens, which I thought was a nice change & feels much healthier.
Also they have sugar cane juice! You can order it plain or with kumquat or passion fruit.
*Bonus: they have bags of Ben Tre candies from Vietnam on display at each of the tables! Got a bag of the coconut chewy candies for $3 -such a good price considering I think you have to buy these IN Vietnam! I've never even seen this flavor at the Viet grocery stores here (only have seen the banana ones at the store). So lucky to find these here! They also have durian and ginger flavors.
We will be back to support this place! If you're in the area, give them a try! You will be pleasantly surprised like we were!“

“My friends and I were craving Banh Beo and this is one of the best places to get some for its price point. We ordered 48 in total and I honestly could ve gotten more but everyone else was starting to get full. They are truly addicting to eat. The textures you get in your mouth from the soft rice pancakes and crunchy toppings make eating them so satisfying.
We tried some other things on the menu as well.
The banh bot loc was great and had the nice chewy texture I was looking for. The cha oc personally wasn't for me but my other friend loved it and ordered seconds. The nem nuong ninh hoa was a good starter but I wish it came with vermicelli noodles. I tried the banh ram it for the first time and it was another interesting mix of textures. And of course, the fish sauce complimented every dish wonderfully. I will be back for sure to try and order as much banh beo possible.
Bun Bo Hue is solid and a good portion. Nem nuong spring rolls are good as well!“

“It was a great lunch experience. The broth tasted great without MSG (uncle Roger may not agree?) but I like the taste of original broth. The sides of basil and sprouts were well prepared as well. The interiors were so relaxing and classy. We enjoyed our visit there and will go again.“

“This place makes geat pho and is very reasonably priced! Bright, clean happy interior in a lesser-maintained older building. The parking lot is a disaster...BUT!!The food? Gorgeous, fresh vegetables, excellent hot tea, very nice noodle bowls and great, smiling service!??Lots of pretty pictures of their offerings already, so I didn't take any.My vermicelli soup, with chicken and delicious 'shrimp balls' was outta sight.Recommended!!“

“Came here with my husband and we were blown away by the very flavorful vegan pho, tasty broth. We also tried the black glutinous rice with milk dessert and it was delicious and warm, which was a nice surprise on a cool day in Houston. It is in an unassuming corner at the edge of Chinatown but clean and beautiful peaceful decor inside.“

“My favorite banh mi and broken rice place in Houston. It really reminds me of the taste in the west coast. The banh mi has a lot of meat. My only compliant is that they don't always have the special banh mi which has the cold cuts. The 2 previous times I went, they didn't have it. I was disappointment but happy with my broken rice dish. I feel like it's a good amount of food for about $15 I believe. I get 2 meals out of 1 order.
It seems this place is a family run business so I only really see the owner lady taking orders and payments, and bringing out the food. I've heard her talk to someone in the back before.
Restrooms aren't clean and the place is a bit dingy.“

“First time trying this place based on an article I saw from Eatery and it did not disappoint! It was so satisfying that I decided to write this 5 star review right away. I got the banh mi thit nuong (bbq pork baguette) and the seasoning was just right with a slight buttery taste on the baguette. The baguette was soft and fluffy yet still maintained a little crispiness on the outside but not to where it will injure the upper roof of your mouth. Anyway the banh mi thit nuong reminds me of this other place I used to love but stopped going there because quality went down. Glad I tried this place and this will be my go-to banh mi shop from now on! I will definitely be back to try the other banh mi! I hope they maintain their quality!“

“Everything was great as far as service and food go. This was our 1st visit, and we enjoyed it very much. The prices were very reasonable. The only thing was the wait, which it wasn't terrible. we were told 25 to 30 min wait, but we're seated in 15 mins. Personally, what clouded the experience were the people complaining about having to wait or be on the waitlist wanting to be seated before others not understanding why they had to wait. The staff handled the situation of each entitled brat very nicely.“

“I alway want to try this place but I never had a good reason to go until recently to catching with a old friend who is vegetarian and this was one of his favor place for food. It was definitely really good and the service was regular service and if you need to go containers you get it self on the table in the middle of the restaurant. The fish is sauce was the best dish I had there. I would come back and try other stuff on the menu.“

“Andddd, this is one of the best places for a traditional Vietnamese meal where you eat family style and share everything. This place had wonderful service, and the flavors of the food were authentic, just like how my mom makes it.
We ordered the Vietnamese hot and sour soup with shrimp (Canh chua), water spinach with garlic (rau muon), fish Claypot (ca kho), and a fried pancake (banh bot chien). I also ordered an iced black coffee.
Flavors were ver authentic. I recommend the soup and the fish for sure. All the dishes have a big portion so make sure you bring your leftovers home!
Thank you for being so kind and helping us during our long lunch!“

Exceptional Dining Experience – A Must-Try!
If you’re a fan of bún măng vịt, you absolutely must visit Bun Mang Vit Thanh Da! From the moment we stepped in, we was impressed by the clean and welcoming atmosphere. But what truly blew us away was the food and service—simply outstanding!
🥢 Incredible Flavor: The duck is tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with no gamey taste. The broth? Rich, aromatic, and packed with deep, savory flavors that keep you coming back for more. The bamboo shoots add the perfect crunch, and the side of ginger fish sauce ties everything together beautifully. Every bite was a delight!
🎨 Beautiful Presentation: Not only is the food delicious, but it’s also beautifully plated, making the experience even more enjoyable. You can tell the chefs put a lot of care into every detail.
💁♂️ Top-Tier Service: The staff here is beyond amazing! Friendly, fast, and incredibly attentive. They truly make you feel like a valued guest, ensuring everything is perfect from start to finish.
🔥 Verdict? 10/10! This place has officially become my go-to spot for bún măng vịt. If you love authentic Vietnamese flavors, don’t miss out on this gem. We’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing friends along!
Highly recommend!
🥤 Bonus: The Nước Rau Má is a Game-Changer! I have to mention their nước rau má (pennywort juice)—it’s fresh, naturally sweet, and so refreshing! It’s the perfect drink to complement a hearty meal.“

“I really like this place, the pho is amazing, strong flavor, fresh ingredients, the ginger sauce you get is soooo good, but the biggest downside is the inaccuracy of their hours & days open. 3 times in a row I have tried to come at various times & different days of the weeks, and it has been closed. “Tucked away off the beaten path in Houston, Quan Ba Ky is a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant that delivers traditional flavors at an unbeatable value. It’s the kind of place that feels like a homey, Mom-and-Pop operation—complete with worn tables, Vietnamese TV shows playing in the background, and a karaoke machine tucked away in the back. There's something undeniably charming about the unpretentious atmosphere, and honestly, what's not to like? It feels authentic, welcoming, and, most importantly, focused on the food.
We visited on an early Saturday evening, and initially, the place was quiet. But as we neared 6-7 PM, the dining room began to fill with a steady stream of Vietnamese patrons, always a good sign that the place is beloved by those who know best.
We started with a round of Viet Cajun-style crawfish—a seasonal treat when fresh, but since it was off-season, the crawfish were frozen. Still, they were flavorful, and you could tell they’d be even better if we’d hit them at peak season. The seasoning was on point, with just the right amount of spice and buttery richness, though the crawfish themselves weren’t as tender as they might have been if fresh. No complaints, though—it's clear the place does its best to provide a taste of a regional specialty even when it’s not in full swing.
The real standout, however, was the Bún Sườn soup. This dish has been getting attention on social media, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The broth was rich and flavorful, the perfect balance of savory and umami, and it came packed with an assortment of seafood, noodles, and herbs that made every bite exciting. Whether you’re a fan of seafood or just enjoy a hearty bowl of noodle soup, this dish is a must-try. It’s the kind of comforting, satisfying food that makes you want to come back for more.
We also decided to try one of their limeade drinks, which was refreshing and tart, making it the ideal pairing with the spicy, seafood-heavy soup. The cool drink provided a nice contrast to the warmth of the broth and helped cleanse the palate between bites.
The service was also top-notch. The owner, who served us, was kind and attentive throughout the meal, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of. There’s something genuinely warm about the experience, which adds to the overall appeal of the place.
And the best part? The total bill for two people came to just around $30—an incredible value for the quality and quantity of food we received. In a city full of trendy spots, Quan Ba Ky’s combination of great food, generous portions, and affordable prices is a real standout.
If you’re looking for traditional Vietnamese food with a homey feel and a focus on quality, look no further than Quan Ba Ky. It's not flashy or trendy, but it’s authentic, delicious, and an excellent value. Highly recommended!
Vegetarian options: Several options
Parking: Lots of free parking right in front of the restaurant
Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly if they are picky or not into Viet food

“I hadn’t had Hu Tieu in ages, and the craving hit hard—I needed a spot ASAP!😩I used to go to Phan Ky, but since they left their old location in Bellaire, it’s hasn’t been the same.
This Hu Tieu was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. I got the P6, Hu Tieu with egg noodles and thin rice noodles dry, and it satisfied my cravings.
Hole-in-the-wall vibes but seriously good. If you’re hungry, get the large. The small didn’t cut it, and I had to order extra noodles.“

“Dong Ba is a Vietnamese restaurant focusing on Huế, central Vietnamese, dishes.
We ordered the Bánh Bèo Chén, Bánh Lá (Nậm) Chả Tôm, and Bánh Ram Ít.
My personal favorite was the Bánh Lá (Nậm) Chả Tôm. The texture soft and melted in my mouth and is one of my favorites in Houston. The Bánh Ram Ít came in four and had a crispy bottom layer and chewy, rice flour layer on top. I liked how the layer portions were equal, but my family preferred more of the chewy mochi layer. Their banh beo, which came with ten small dishes, is pretty good but not as soft as I would like and more on the denser and chewier side.
Definitely go light on the chili when putting it in your fish sauce. The chili is grounded fresh and was super spicy!
Overall, I really enjoyed their banh nam and would go again to eat a huge stack of them.“

“Very casual, asian style restaurant as you walk in. We were lucky to be seated immediately with such a large party, but you can tell they are able to accommodate. The wait staff is very quick and thorough, but we did feel kind of rush to make order. I'm assuming because they knew it was gonna be a big order. Overall, the food tasted great, and everything came out about the same time. I did really like the old school asian restaurant vibe, which gave me some nostalgia of my childhood. Restrooms could definitely have been a bit cleaner.
