Over the top in the best way—rich, indulgent, and the perfect ending to a great meal. Honestly, this place puts some of the high-end fine dining spots to shame. Manager Edwin put us at ease with the best comfortable service, and every cocktail he recommended we were very impressed with. I will definitely recommend my friends to visit this place, I want to go back and try the cocktail again on my next business trip.“

“Early dinner on a weeknight with reservations. Service was excellent!!! Our server was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of and interactions with others in the restaurant were very positive. Food was great as well. I had a Wagyu cheeseburger and it was perfectly prepared and very tasty. Wife had chicken and mashed potatoes and she said they were excellent but mashed potatoes were a bit on the salty side. Overall we had a great experience and highly recommend Salty Sow!“

“After ogling over Murray's food pics on insta for what seems like over a year, I finally decided to take my steak lovin' hubs here for a birthday surprise dinner.

First must I say the ambiance was job well done. You first walk in like... oh nice, what a clean tavern. Few steps further into the dining area and you're like... whoa who would have thought you you could class up a tavern?! Like a gamesman sporty classy if that makes any sense.

Steak Frites Night was the reason we came but let me tell you the other dishes rose to the occasion. The hubs upgraded to the prime rib which does also upgrade price, but every bite was still worth it.

The portions for the prime rib and pasta were quite generous. With 2 younger kiddos, myself, and husband, we still had leftovers to go home.

Speaking of having kiddos at a tavern you ask? We went at early dinner time so I feel like it was still conducive to a family vibe.

You know a good restaurant when you're writing a review and can't wait to go back. Three Martini Lunch Fridays and Happy Hours 3-5p, watch out I'm coming back for ya.“

“A true Austin experience and the best staff, in total, that I have encountered in a long time. The staff and the retro setting set a really unique vibe in the restaurant. Food was very good with the spanish octopus and the rib eye being the highlights. Good, well selected wine list (even if markup is a little high) and a great bar program (Secret Beach on tap at a restaurant....thought I was dreaming).

Chelsea (Manager) was patient with my indoor / outdoor table change requests, despite being a very busy night. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive but not disruptive, and just plain cool....in fact I would say that about all of the serving staff.

Overall one of my best fine dining experiences in Austin. BTW, the outside patio is perfect.“

“This place absolutely slaps! I just got the Gimme Burger (double cheeseburger), so I didn’t try the fries.

It’s smash burger style with a great sauce. Perfect amount of grease - I was able to eat in my car while driving (sorry 😅) in my nice outfit and I didn’t mess it up at all. Highly recommend!“

“Sooo savory and so good. Went for a walk in the Hyde Park neighborhood this evening and decided to stop by here on the way home. Really glad we did. Eating it right now at home. Got the “Steak and Zab” and the “Keto Fried Chicken” – both with veggies. Seems I read that they are adding a ricotta cheese sauce to some items and it IS Really tasty. Hits the spot. You are missing the boat if you do not give these folks a try. Great alternative to cooking at home ! Heck, great alternative to your favorite local restaurant.“

Our cups and plates never went empty and he had fabulous recommendations. He went above and beyond with my 2 year old nephew. My nephew stayed well-behaved for 2.5 hours so we could all enjoy ourselves thanks to the bowls of ice Josh would bring periodically for him to chomp on. Everyone left happy and full of phenomenal food and drink. We are still blown away that we could dine for over 2.5 hours with a 2 year old with no problems. We are ready to recommend Maie Day to all of our friends - I hope they have Josh as their server when they go!“

“Considering that I'm a vegetarian and this is (obviously) a very meat-y restaurant, this was a very good experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the decor is elegant, the semi-outdoor seating was pleasantly breezy on a hot day (I could do without the huge TVs, but that's me). I simply wanted to get a quick drink with an old friend and we chose Carve purely because of its location. We arrived during their happy hour (which starts at 3:00). We ordered a couple of tasty cocktails and an order of the cheesy cauliflower sticks -- delicious! The happy hour prices certainly made me happy, and the charming waiter checked back in at sensible intervals and remained good humored and attentive even when it must have become obvious that we were not going to be ordering more. I noticed that the menu includes some attractive vegetarian/vegan options and will bear Carve in mind for family celebration meals where there are carnivores as well as vegetarians to feed. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that they failed to include the tip I thought I'd added to the credit card slip and I realized when I checked my account that I hadn't left a tip at all -- apologies if that was my fault!!“
