“This Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is located alongside Cold Stone Creamery. On one side of the cash register is Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and the other side is Cold Stone Creamery. Even though it's two businesses in one location, it is a very small store with maybe four small tables. They have most of the basic candies and candy/caramel apples, but they don't have everything that you can find in other places. They don't open until 4pm on Sunday. Good thing I checked online before going over there.”

I think we refilled the cucumber kimchi about 50,000 times! 😂 Surprisingly, even my American husband, who normally hates vegetables, absolutely loved it!

We ordered the Galbitang (short rib soup) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). The Galbitang was incredibly hearty and tasted just like the authentic Galbitang I remember from Korea. The Jjamppong wasn’t overly spicy or intense in flavor, but it had the most generous amount of toppings I’ve seen compared to other restaurants!

More than anything, I could really feel the warmth and generosity of Korean hospitality through the food. It reminded me of home ❤”

This is the Cheers of Layton Utah. Everything here is a lot cheaper than you can find anywhere else. A few hours of drinking for two people plus an appetizer was only about 40 after tip. It is worth noting that the bar does not serve liquor, only beer and canned seltzers. I will certainly be back.”

But the journey to obtain a burger on that fateful evening was not an easy one.

I opened the app believing this would be a simple task. Choose food. Submit order. Retrieve burger. I was foolish then. Naive and innocent.

The app promptly returned me to the home screen. I tried again. Home screen. Another try. Again, home screen. Again, and again.

Soon, I no longer knew whether I had ordered nothing, one meal, or enough Charburgers to provision an army marching toward the Black Gate to face the Lord of the Black Land come forth that justice could be done upon him.

For several terrifying minutes, I lived with the possibility that five identical orders were being prepared in my name. I imagined arriving at the restaurant to find the staff standing before a mountain of burgers, demanding answers I could not provide.

Then I discovered the truth. I had ordered nothing. My information had vanished. My order had vanished. Everything I had entered had slipped into the Cracks of Doom. Lost forever in an abyss of despair.

Fear led to anger. Anger led to hate. Hate for this doomed app and the dark side of online ordering. Yet I resolved my hate into the quiet determination of a man who had come too far to be denied a burger.

I pressed onward. Literally, I just went inside the restaurant.

Thankfully, when I finally arrived, the staff at The Habit were everything the app was not: professional, patient, friendly, and apparently capable of remembering information for longer than six seconds.

They helped me without judgment.

They did not ask about the things I had seen.

They simply gave me my food.

Later at home, holding my burger at last, I knew the quest had been worth it. The meal was delicious. My strength returned. Light returned. Hope was rekindled. The shadow passed.

Five stars for the food. Five stars for the staff.

And to the app: You shall not pass me back to the home screen again. Probably.

“ENDORSING WING STOP IN LAYTON UTAH: This is a little anniversary story. (Last night Cathy and I celebrated with the two younger boys--who I also "married" on May 11, 2018. We are celebrating alone this weekend.) A couple of weeks ago, Cathy and I ordered take-out from Wingstop for an at-home date. When I got home, Cathy reviewed the receipt and realized that we had mistakenly received an extra $20 bill in change. The next day, I went into Wingstop and offered the money back. The manager told me that it was not necessary to return the money, and that he wanted to reward our honesty by taking care of our next meal for free. When we decided to get some take out to celebrate with the boys, we decided to use the free meal we had been promised. We thought one meal would be free and planned on paying for the other three meals. Instead, the manager comped all 4 meals! I highly recommend the Layton Wingstop --not only for their exceptional customer service but because the wings and all of their sides are great. (Try the fried corn--it's terrific.) Please don't use this information to try to manipulate free food. Their food is definitely worth the price you pay and they have a great selection of wing flavors!”

I was flustered and not having a great night...out comes an employee from the Layton store...young, pretty, dark hair pulled into a ponytail...she said she noticed me and offered me a pizza... she MADE MY NIGHT!!! “Excellent service. Food was fresh and tasty. The chips and salsa is always a favorite. My daughter loves the kids Chicken Alfredo Pasta. My other kids love their sauced chicken crispers. Yummy salads and burgers too.”
