“Sub Rosa is THE bakery in Richmond! I live about 2 hours away and always make sure I stop by when I’m passing by. It’s about half a mile off the highway, so it’s easy. There’s no parking lot, so finding parking can be an issue, but don’t let that discourage you!

The bread and baked goods are as close to being in Europe as I’ve found (I lived abroad for 8 years). Crusts are light, flaky and leave a little butter on your lips. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

They serve and sell both Recluse and Afterglow coffee - both are excellent local beans.

“i LOVE minglewood bake shop so much. it's my favorite coffee shop in RVA. the atmosphere is very loving & accepting. the pastries & coffee are to die for! they have gluten-free options as well, which is amazing as someone with celiac disease. all staff is so friendly & welcoming. they have cute stickers & accessories here too. overall great environment, vibe, & food! everything is also vegan, which is super cool! they even have a microwave that's solely used for vegan foods only. a lot of cool stuff here & they always have something yummy & new to try. i have never had a bad experience here & i've been going often since 2023! pricing is also so good, you get great portions & high quality for what you pay.“

“Last Saturday morning, we had an ordering issue error which was caused by our teen. I spoke to the manager (if I remember correctly, her name was Faith) and she could not have been any nicer or more professional in straightening out our problem. Crumbl is lucky to have such a pleasant person working for them, and taking the time to help me out....

I bought two for my first time - regular with cream cheese and sprinkles and regular with crème brûlée and graham crackers. The 2nd one was saved for the next day, I microwaved it for like 30 seconds and I swear it taste like it was literally out of the oven. If you are a cinnamon roll lover - THIS IS THE PLACE!!!“

I just so happened to be traveling back home on 288 and found Mangas Mini Treats on google, the reviews looked great and I needed cupcakes for an event tomorrow. My daughter asked for a chocolate chip cookie too and it was gone within a matter of minutes. We of course tried one of the oreo cupcakes tonight and WOW! Just wow. I usually am an icing girl (don’t get me wrong the icing was outstanding) but with this cupcake I was both icing and cake :) The little touch of the oreo cookie at the bottom was so perfect. “SO happy Great Harvest is open again. The new ownership is fantastic and so welcoming. We just stopped in for a quick lunch and didn’t realize they were closing in 10 minutes, so we said we could take our food to go; they said, “absolutely not,” and gave us a free muffin and cookie! “As a Brazilian I have to say that this place is pure magic and the best of treats to find in VA and the US! One of the things I miss most about Brazil is bakeries and their delicious and amazing pastries and treats!
Different than most Brazilian restaurants that will mostly serve dishes and plates with rice and beans, this location serves pastries (savory and sweet), cakes, breads, and some Brazilian grocery items. Everything that I have tried there has taken me back to Brazil and tasted just like home!
I’ve heard about their buffet, but haven’t tried. However, based on all the things I’ve tried, I can’t imagine being anything short of incredibly delicious!
Whether you’re Brazilian looking for a taste of home, or someone looking to experience Brazilian bakeries, treats and service. Definitely recommend!“

“I recently stopped by Pies and Cakes in Richmond, and it’s a charming little bakery that really impressed me. The shop is small and cozy, but the desserts are packed with flavor. They offer a rotating selection of pies, cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, so there’s usually something new to try each time you visit.

The idea came to me basically last minute, and I had about a week or so to search around and see if it would even be possible. I reached out to Micá and she responded within a day saying she would love to! Besides her being so sweet and accommodating on such short notice, she even delivered the pie to me!
