“Been trying to get here for ages! Scored 2 seats at the bar and had a thoroughly wonderful time. 4 appetizers later we give it 4 thumbs up! Lovely wine list and our brilliant bartender concocted me a custom cocktail when I confessed an aversion to a specific ingredient.
Was delighted to see so many people greeted by name around us. Had the feel of a locals favorite for sure. Love living in Gloucester but Circa 1918 was a delightful sojourn!
PS we scored a curbside spot out front as a cherry on top.

“My husband, son and I enjoyed our supper at Metro this evening. We had an excellent waitress -- answered questions, pleasant exchange about the menu, anticipated time for drink refills and brought our tab without the long wait after finishing. Our only complaint was the loud music -- hard for us to converse since my husband and I are both hearing impaired.“

“We go here a lot on Saturday nights. The comics are pretty good and some better than others. The staff is very friendly. The food is pretty good too, especially the meatballs!!! I highly suggest for a night out and some laughs. I would call ahead and reserve a seat.“

“I usually call ahead so when I go on lunch I can just grab it, pay, and go. Even if I don't call ahead of time the food is made quickly and tastes fine. $10 for a bacon cheeseburger with a decent amount of fries and a canned drink is honestly the best deal you'll get around here as a shipyard worker, at least in my opinion. They aren't rude, as some other reviews have said, they're just blunt. And I respect that. All in all 4/5 stars and I'll continue to eat here.“

“This is one restaurant that never disappoints. Food is delicious and always served at the correct temperature. The staff is exceedingly helpful and accommodating. They have various evenings when there is a special menu, which gives you a variety from the main menu. Their once a month Dinner and Cocktail events are not to be missed. Their support of the World Kitchen during COVID was very impressive and all the more reason to be a regular patron.“

“I only ate in the dining room, I did not stay in the rooms because I didnt know it was there honestly. The food was amazing, I came back for dinner after I had lunch there. Shrimp and grits for lunch, the shrimp were flavorful and the grits cake was something id never had before and it was amazing. I was given a sample of the dinner special, prime rib, and it was cooked perfect and seasoned wonderfully so we went back from dinner. The staff was amazing and informative. Will be definitely be back next time I'm in the area“

“We made plans for our anniversary to stay at the Smithfield Inn and Restaurant. The new owner was very friendly and could not do enough to made our anniversary a happy occasion. The meal was excellent and our room was very cozy with fireplace and seating area separate from the bedroom. It was very clean and quiet. Then to top it off we were given breakfast coupons for the near by Gourmet Bakery. The bakery was also excellent. We would stay there again and longer to enjoy the cute small downtown shops. Be back soon!“

“We celebrated my sister's birthday last night at Texas Roadhouse and had the best experience ever! Sydney was our waitress and she was absolutely phenomenal! Her mannerisms, her kindness, her attention to detail, everything...she was AMAZING! She even assisted my 69-year-old sister with getting on the saddle to be recognized for her special day. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were outstanding! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience. We will be back and will definitely ask for Sydney!“

“I was working in VA and these guys came highly recommended by the local police. They were amazing! Good service ,great scenery because their located on the water. The girl serving had a great sense of humor. The seafood was great like it was just swimming a few hours before we ate it! Very fresh! Tea never ran dry, they were great!“
