“Nice quick getaway across the James River Bridge from the fast pace of Newport News to the relaxing small town atmosphere of Rescue. Captain Chuck-A- Mucks sits on the water edge of scenic Jones Creek. My wife and I visited for the first time to eat lunch and really appreciated it. Captain Chuck-A-Mucks is a very well managed and clean restaurant. We chose to set inside as to eating out on the deck. I had a salad and fried oysters and my wife had crab soup and Onion Rings. Good portions of food and great tasting. Captain Chuck-A Mucks will definitely be added to our favorite Restuaraunt list to eat at.“

“Kip was our waiter, and from the moment we walked in until he held the door for us when leaving, he gave us the best service! Attentive, friendly, and enthusiastic about making our visit wonderful and unforgettable. We felt like royalty...important...friends of the owners even. I cannot give this man and his colleagues enough praise. And on top of that, the food was absolutely delicious! From the amuse-bouche on the house, to the short rib special, to the scallop main course to finish up the meal, everything was well crafted and attention to detail was apparent. Even the cocktails were masterfully crafted and pleasantly flavored. The old-fashioned I sipped on was top! Overall, we were blown away with all aspects of this visit, and we will definitely be adding this establishment into our date night rotation.“

We had an excellent waitress -- answered questions, pleasant exchange about the menu, anticipated time for drink refills and brought our tab without the long wait after finishing. Our only complaint was the loud music -- hard for us to converse since my husband and I are both hearing impaired.“

“I usually call ahead so when I go on lunch I can just grab it, pay, and go. Even if I don't call ahead of time the food is made quickly and tastes fine. $10 for a bacon cheeseburger with a decent amount of fries and a canned drink is honestly the best deal you'll get around here as a shipyard worker, at least in my opinion. They aren't rude, as some other reviews have said, they're just blunt. And I respect that. All in all 4/5 stars and I'll continue to eat here.“

Local talent, if you show up wanting to have fun, you will enjoy yourselves! we had crab cakes and wings the food was not only really good, it was also local sourced. As in not corporate processed tyco stuff. we met a very nice staff and I think they said the owners have been doing this a long time. We had fun and it didn't break the bank, thats really what it's all about.“

“We made plans for our anniversary to stay at the Smithfield Inn and Restaurant. The new owner was very friendly and could not do enough to made our anniversary a happy occasion. The meal was excellent and our room was very cozy with fireplace and seating area separate from the bedroom. It was very clean and quiet. Then to top it off we were given breakfast coupons for the near by Gourmet Bakery. The bakery was also excellent. We would stay there again and longer to enjoy the cute small downtown shops. “I Love this waffle house, I've been going here for years since I was little and they never really fail to disappoint. I mean yeah sure theres your occasional undercooked waffle or overcooked bacon but overall the food taste great! The Employees are kind and the atmosphere is nice, but it is always freezing cold it here so bring a jacket or a sweater. The place is also pretty kid freindly and is a great place for breakfast. I'm not really sure how it is in the noon because I only come in the morning but this was my honest review on this waffke house.“

“We have visited the Smithfield Inn for dinner many times. It is a very historic Restaurant with excellent local fare, from fish, crab, meat prepared in some cases in original recipes. Notable is the She-crab bisque, best I've had anywhere. Crab cakes, seasonal favorites, original Smithfield ham all round out a very satisfying menu. It is a local favorite so reservations are recommended. Very interesting historic Inn in old town Smithfield.“
