3. Iron plate Mongolian beef: similar to Korean bulgogi but less sweet and saucy—very good!
4. General Tso’s chicken: a classic dish with chicken balls in a subtly sweet and mildly spicy sauce.
5. Pumpkin seafood tofu soup: sizable enough to share, with balanced flavors from pumpkin and seafood that weren’t overpowering
6. Fried rice: among the best in Northern Virginia, with a deep, savory flavor from stir-fried onions.“

“This place is subpar. Food was average, not worth the price. However, I will absolutely be coming back due to the service. Andrew did everything in his power to accommodate my family. I don’t think I’ve seen a server as personable, competent, and willing to fulfill our wants and needs. He seems to go out of his way in order to make us feel welcome, and that no task is too small. He even made our kids happy! Any request they had, he was on top of. Very attentive, respectful, and polite! Maybe this guy should be a manager….? He checked on us more than the actual managers did, even though he was clearly busy; I don’t think I saw a manager my entire time. I would have loved to praise him to a higher up. KEEP THIS GUY! I love the new lamps on the table, it gives a little more light, and makes me feel like I’m not in a dungeon. Host seemed very disinterested in helping, and very monotoned. Not necessarily how I want to feel when I walk in. Didn’t really feel welcome until our server came along.“

“I almost didn’t walk into Hunan Taste. When I saw pho on the menu, I hesitated. I know pho. I’ve had it done right, and when a Chinese place throws it on the menu, it usually means they’re trying to be everything to everyone.

But I’m glad I went in.

I ordered what I always judge a place by — roast pork and lo mein. If you can’t get that right, nothing else matters. The roast pork was legit. Flavorful, not dried out, not that bland filler meat some of these pop-up spots use. Mix it with the lo mein? That’s a winning combination every time.

Then came the egg roll. Not a spring roll. A real egg roll. Thick wrapper, crispy, hearty filling.

But what sealed it for me was the mustard. Homemade Chinese mustard — the real deal, the kind that clears your sinuses and lets you know someone back there cares.

If you’re in Springfield and you want solid Chinese food, this is a good spot. I’ll be back.“

“Top notch Chinese! This is my second visit here, first visit I only ordered shrimp fried rice. I’m so glad I returned. This place has it all, reasonable prices, excellent customer service, and quality and tasty meals. For my family I ordered fried chicken and fries for my son, shrimp egg foo young for my wife and I and orange chicken and fried rice for my older son. The store was filled with customers which had me excited. This is the spot! The cashier brought everyone’s takeout food to them with a smile on her face. It seemed like she knew all of her customers. I took my food home to my family and the food was phenomenal. Extra shrimp in the egg foo young, seasoned chicken wings, everything was great. I can’t wait to return to order more food. I’ll recommend this place to anyone!“

“Food was absolutely delicious and ready pretty quick! I got shrimp fried rice-- shrimp was large and well cooked! Very flavorful! I also got crab rangoon-- real crab meat and oh so good! I had to ask for the sweet and sour sauce for it, but the lady was polite and gave it to me. It was sooo crunchy, warm and delicious! And I got fried chicken wings.. and they nailed it!! “This place has great Chinese food!! Love how it’s piping hot even after the 15 drive home after pickup or when they deliver. All of the fried rice dishes, beef chow fun, chicken with broccoli, beef chow mein are some of our favorites. They’re also very nice and friendly. Super quick too.

“My family’s been coming to Empire for the last 20 years, even after we moved 30 min away, this is still our primary Chinese takeout spot. My biggest mistake was not leaving this review sooner. Food is always great, incredibly quick. Sure, prices have gone up but food cost doesn’t just affect consumers, it affects businesses too, so while not ideal, I get it. Yesterday, my buddy and I ordered some food for carry out on our way out of his storage unit. Come to find out, if you don’t leave by 9pm, they lock you in, literally. I called Empire back to tell them of the situation, and without hesitation, they offered to bring our food to us at the storage unit despite being 5 minutes to closing by the time we figured out that the police officer’s code wasn’t going to work (we thought we were gonna have to stay the night). Not only that, when he realized our situation, he went back out to a gas station to get us utensils to eat our food there *and* got us 2 drinks. We ended up getting out very shortly after, but it really stuck in my head that this is one of the nicest things a complete stranger has done for me. I didn’t need any other reason to keep coming to Empire, but this validates my love for this place and the people that run it. The best part is the food was still warm when we made it back home. Hunan Cafe in Burke is my go-to spot! The food is always fresh, portions are generous, and the flavors never disappoint. I’m a spice lover, and they always nail my extra, extra, extra spicy requests.

Service is fast, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean and simple. Prices are super reasonable, and they don’t skimp on the protein.

The only downside? They’re closed on Mondays—but that just makes Tuesday taste even better. 😋“

There were several tables with chairs for dining in so I decided to stay and eat. The tables were clean. “Our Monday night dinner group has come back here multiple times. The smell is wonderful immediately when you walk in. The host and all staff there are super friendly and always fun to chat with. Our waiter had our whole table laughing every time we engaged with him. Everyone's orders were perfectly cooked, nice sized portions and came out very quickly. I personally love the Malaysian Iced Coffee, Roti Canai and Chicken Satay. Our group had noodle dishes, beef, lamb, seafood....all was wonderful. “Grab & Go type restaurant inside Fresh World (Asian & International Grocery Store) serving Chinese barbecue. Their crispy pig (heo quay) is the best in the area, perfectly crisp and seasoned. We also love the salt and pepper duck; the sauce that comes with it is to die for. They sell vietnamese desserts and bbq roast pork buns too, but these are known to sell out fast.“
