Also highly recommend the walu with wasabi pickle, spicy tuna roll, house roll, hamachi belly, mushroom miso soup. The staff are wonderful, too. It’s a small spot, but two people can still get a seat without a reservation.“

“My girlfriend and I went for her birthday and they already had a card prepared for her when we got there because I selected birthday under the event tab in our reservation. We both decided it was the best place either of us had been. I do not write reviews for restaurants but this one deserves it. “This place has really great sushi- The fish is super fresh. It's a tad pricier than some other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood but I think that's acceptable given the quality of fish and that you get way more rolls. That said, it's definitely a takeout only kind of place, there's only counter seating for like 7 people. Service was a biiit slow but there was only one chef and I think the owner working to get rolls out. It also felt a bit like there was pressure to get us to tip, which I thought was odd given it's not exactly a sit down and you order and pay at the counter.“

“Every thing we had was so delicious. We started with genmaicha tea as it was a chilly day and then ordered appetizers.
The
tea was perfectly roasted and cozy. We had the rock shrimp and fried sweet potato- lightly fried and full of flavor. Next I had the salmon teriyaki and friend has Ramen. Also delicious, no complaints. The true winner was our waiter. He was so welcoming, accommodating, funny and kind. Will be back very soon.“

“The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.

We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!

Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.

We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.
