“They were at our local winery today and gave them a try. The food was so good! We ordered two California burritos (carne asada and the cheeseburger). He used skirt steak, not hamburger and I believe the thousand island dressing was homemade. It was sooooo good. Quality ingredients and an knack to make simple food delicious. Give this guy a try. “Sometimes can be quite crowded, but the staff are great. The yogurt selection is wonderful and their seems to feel like an endless amount of toppings. Helpful tip: Mondays from 6-9pm you can fill your cup for $7. This is a great deal. Just note it can be busier during that time.“
“MFD is the best Detroit-style pizza in town.The toppings: all of the ingredients are top quality and delicious. For me the castelvetrano olives are the best, but the meats and veggies are all delicious.The sauce: Just right. Enough spices to be interesting but not so fiery that you mind. Creamy texture.The crust: Among the best I've had. Of brands actually from Detroit, at least on par with (IMO better than) Shield's. Buddy's has a special place in my heart and I might give them the crust edge but it's close. Well, close for now, because:The people: Derek himself is awesome. Very welcoming, very friendly, and full of energy. Derek clearly cares about pizza and is constantly looking at new ingredients and recipes to learn from and tweak.Other menu items: absolutely worth trying. Derek's coffee beans make a lovely cup, the jalapeno cheesy bread is the best cheese bread I've found, and others are solid too.Yes, you have to watch for calendar slots to open up and book in advance, but it's very much worth it - and it's days in advance, not weeks or months like certain other chains. Great things are worth the wait.I cannot recommend My Friend Derek's strongly enough. I love Detroit-style pizza, I've tried most of the other great Detroit-style pizzas around (including the ones in West Seattle, Woodinville, and Lynnwood, among others) and MFD is the pizza I keep coming back to.Parking: It's Fremont, so finding street parking can be tricky, but since it's takeout only you only have to find somewhere for a short period of time.“
“Stopped in for lunch today and ordered the Bison taco and some of the sweet fry bread with honey on it. Not exactly the same sort of fry bread tacos I'm used to from Arizona but that's perfectly alright and I knew that from looking at the menu in advance.The bread came right out of the fryer so it was warm and airy. The veggies were fresh and the bison meat was well cooked (not chewy or anything). The sauce worked really well with it too! Kind of wish I'd gotten a second one ?I'll definitely be coming back here soon!“

“The best!!! Imnso so happy I found this place.I am vegetarian(mostly a vegan diet) and my 3 yr old is gluten free. My sister is a huge meat eater and generally won't touch anything vegan. I really wanted to try this place out though and let me tell you all 3 of us were happy!My child never eats burgers. He. Prefers chicken nuggets but he ate the entire burger and said it was deliscious. I got the basic burger for him and the only alteration I did was removed the house sauce since we ate in the car. He absolutely loved it. He also got to try both fries options she has and he loved the one with pesto more but he enjoyed both. I love that she accommodated and made everything as glutennfree as possible for him. The buns she uses are also gluten free. He can have some gluten so the deep fried fries are ok but she eliminated as much as possible.My sister tasted my burger and liked it but she loved thr pesto fries but did say there was alot of grease at the bottom.Me being me I went all out! I got the burger, which was amazing. I've never had a vegan patty like this or this thick so it was different for me but it was so good. The sauce she uses is also amazing! I got both types of fries. With pesto was good but thr onion aoli fries I hsve been craving since I went!!! The best fries I've ever had! The grilled cheese had amazing flavor and was tasty but I'm not a huge vegan cheese fan so for me this wasn't something I would grt again but if it was loaded with veggies and grilled mushrooms and onions with those sauces I'd be in heaven!!Overall the food was easily 10 out of 10 and being that she only makes vegan food I'm safe knowing she won't use butter or lard or chicken stock like some places do and claim are vegan.Now as far as Danielle herself, she is amazing! We sat and chatted for a bit and learned she's been vegan for awhile and just got this food cart and is making things happen. She was super helpful and friendly and I'm a huge introvert and do not generally like people but she was cool! I live out in sultan so sadly it's hard getting up there but I'll be stopping by anytime I'm up in the area because I want to make sure she stays in business for the long haul. This food truely makes my heart happy and it's a place that accommodates all my families needs. Ohh I took some leftovers home and my 4 other kids devoured everything. “I had the birria tacos. Fire. Also had a pastor taco (grilled pork with pineapple bits, my go to at most taco spots) everything was good. On a previous visit I had a chorizo burrito, wet, would have gotten it again, but, it was lunch time and two breakfasts mess me up, lol. The salsas are on point too. The hot salsa is actually hot. The best reason to go is the woman that works the counter. She is so nice, my wife even said so. We watched her deal with a difficult customer while we waited for our food. He wasn't rude, just had tons of questions and lots of modifications and she was accommodating where she could be, but polite and when she couldn't.They are doing things the right way down there. Strongly recommend.“
