“Sushi Kaunta delivers a truly authentic experience and on par/exceeds many of the highly rated omakases in Seattle. The chef is both highly skilled and genuinely kind. The fish was incredibly fresh, and each piece is balanced and thoughtfully prepared. Service is warm, attentive, and perfectly paced, making the entire meal feel seamless. Overall, it’s an outstanding dining experience I’d highly recommend this place!! Definitely will be back!“

“Very good sushi and Japanese food. I don't remember many eclectic or unique items, but the menu is extensive and everything is well prepared. They have just about every kind of Japanese food and a nice variety of sake, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. The service is friendly and efficient.“

“We ordered the Salmon Lovers and Singapore Mafia. I thought the rolls were really fresh and delicious, although I liked the Singapore Mafia more. We also ordered Calamari and had miso soup.
Unfortunately the miso soup and calamari were extremely salty. We couldn’t finish the miso soup.“

“I'm not a great photographer and I won't be doing their delicious sushi justice.
However, pictured is the Lion King roll, Cali roll and takoyaki. I also enjoy the hot dream and tiger eye roll. Their ingredients are always fresh and the sushi is consistently good. For years I frequented Newcastle. Good to have the same rolls closer to Seattle.
The employees are also attentive and kind. The ambiance is nice and the environment is clean.“

“A total gem hiding in plain sight. Appa Sushi is easy to miss — it's tucked into a strip off a busy road (just off 516) — but don't let the unassuming location fool you. The service is spectacular. We rolled in mid-ride on the Green River Trail, and when we mentioned we wanted to eat in the nearby Riverview park, the staff were absolutely delighted to help and packed our lunch to go without missing a beat.
One warning: the portions are ENORMOUS. Thinking we'd be starving after biking, we each ordered our own bento box — big mistake, we could easily have split a single one. They pile on the rice, and I swear there was half a chicken in the chicken teriyaki. Super-nice staff, quick and easy service, and food that way over-delivers for the price. I can't wait to go back.“

“Shiva provided the best service I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. Michael came in to relieve him and made sure we were fully satiated with our meals. Both Shiva and Michael gave us a great conversation and delicious food. Some of the best presented sushi as well. I’ll definitely be back. I would give this a 10⭐️if I could.“

“DELICIOUS sashimi. I really hope the owners find this comment. I'm leaving this review because my conscience won't allow me not to. Basically, I shared a very pleasant $90+ meal with a couple friends. However, I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not well-practiced/educated in tipping because I've so rarely eaten out in all my life. I SEVERELY under-tipped them for this meal, and I just feel awful because it was AMAZING service on top of really decent sushi and better sashimi.“

“Fresh, fast and delicious! The portions are on point & the rice-ratio = perfection.
You can use the main door but if you’re 6ft watch your head (hanging signage). Recommend using the building door (to the right of restaurant) for access.“

“Yummy sushi, lots of options to choose from. Been there twice and they’ve always been e excellent. Only concern is that the food rating is ok, so it’s not ideal. Would eat more often if their rating increase. Owner is very sweet and nice.“

“Reso recommended. Bar and dining room seating available. Killer happy hour specials - Seattle roll was 10/10. Super bad boy was also excellent. Tempura brie bites are a must. House white wine was even good. This is definitely the spot if you want good sushi“

“I ordered the middle of the road omakase and got a good spread. the wild next to the farmed salmon was a fun comparison. I've never had squid cut in tiny curly bits like it was. I asked about Uni but was told they were out, which was disappointing. I'm also not a huge fan of scanning a QR code for a menu.“

“One of my favorite Japanese restaurants (not to mention the oldest in Seattle) and it has never disappointed me. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and warm. It’s a difficult time we are in with the pandemic of 2020, but Maneki has transitioned to take out, which it never did before, and is so organized that it blew my mind when I saw how clearly labeled each item was when I got home. I could easily tell which was part of the teishoku 定食 or “set meal.” Support this small business because it needs us now more than ever. 01 DEC 2020.“

“BEST sushi around! New sushi bar in Kent next to McClendon’s Hardware (in former Save-U-More) FRESH fish and all the flavors were in point. Rice was PERFECT. We enjoyed 4 long rolls and they were LONG ( 10 pieces). Great owners and very welcoming. They are set up for large platters, in door seating (with Karaoke). Nice, new decor and restaurant.“

“A decent sushi lunch place. They have your choice of poke bowls, bentos, sushi rolls and nigiri and salads. I usually drop by here to pick up a quick lunch when I have a craving for sushi. Quality is ok, not bad and not great. I think the poke bowls are the best thing to try here“

“Got the Poke roll and the Gyoza
Average prices for the area
Poke roll ($12) was simple/kept the Ahi Tuna front and center with a nice touch of Japanese pepper(? I am guessing - it tasted like what I had in the past)“

“Absolutely fire sushi spot. Fish tasted super fresh, rolls were packed and actually worth the price, and the presentation was clean. Staff was friendly and fast even when it got busy. The spicy tuna roll and salmon nigiri were probably some of the best I’ve had in a while. Atmosphere was chill, good music, and overall just a solid place to eat. Definitely coming back.“

“Walked up, asked for Yakisoba and a Sapporo, and it was ready in a few minutes. Seating is a little sparse for a location which serves alcohol, but I thought the portion was a good size, and they had Soy Sauce and Sriracha on hand to kick it up a notch. Closest I'll get to a Japanese vacation this year.“

“If you live in Renton or in northern Kent, this Teriyaki shop is amazing. The food is worth every penny, which isn't pricey at all. By the way, one of the only teriyaki shops that gives you a different kind of Salad dressing, and not the same thousand island type of dressing.“

“I love to order my lunch here ahead of time and then pick it up. Their sushi is so good and today I decided to try the chicken breast bento box with Korean potato salad. I have a new favorite food! That potato salad is sweet, but it pairs sooo well with their teriyaki sauce!! I will be ordering this again very soon! Thank you Joy Bento! You guys are AMAZING!!!“

“My boyfriend was craving teriyaki on a Sunday which as many of you know that teriyaki places are usually closed on Sundays. However, we saw that this place opens on Sundays (they had several banners saying that they were open on Sundays too) after the original place we wanted to check out had a sudden kitchen maintenance. This restaurant is a lot bigger than other teriyaki restaurants with booth and chair seats, plenty of big or small tables, two TVs playing different sports, and it was the temperature was perfect. They have a big menu so it's easy to see the prices and their offerings, which consists of teriyaki, soups, Chinese food, sushi and bubble tea. Their prices are very reasonable and the upcharge on fried rice is the lowest I've seen but I think there's a reason for that (it's pretty bland). The cashier lady was efficient at her job but definitely could be friendlier and I wish she wasn't super snappy, there was no real rush and we were maybe their fourth order during that time.
We opted to dine in and took our seat waiting for food. They have offer fountain drinks and bottled drinks, as well as water cups. We got our utensils and sauce cups first then our food arrived not too long afterwards. My boyfriend got their chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu combo with fried rice while I got their chicken teriyaki and California roll combo. I love that they have steamed veggies as I like to enjoy any remaining teriyaki sauce with them. The California rolls were decent, not the best but not the worst either. The teriyaki sauce is pretty good, it is a great mix of sweet and savory. They are also very generous with rice as there was a bed of under my teriyaki and two scoops. My boyfriend enjoyed the katsu and the sauce that came with it was very delicious! The only issue we had was that the fried rice had no seasoning or color, I almost thought it was white rice with some veggies at first. Other than that, a solid teriyaki joint that seemed to have a good amount of people coming in to pick up orders for the most part.“

“More of a take out place. Food was ready fast. It was super hot. Had to wait a few mins before I could eat it without burning my mouth. Taste was delicious. More authentic style than American. But it's atop Beacon Hill so what would you expect. No parking and no seating area to eat. Just a few chairs so you can wait for your order. Had to park a block away and eat in my car. No regrets...“

“Having had Genki in Hawaii, it was so nice to discover that we had one after moving here several years ago. “I tried Musashi for the first time and it was alright! I got a chirashi bowl which ran to $20 after taxes. It was a pretty small bowl but it was decent. It wasn’t the best chirashi bowl I’ve ever had nor would I come back here for it. It was nice to try a new restaurant but it wasn’t anything too crazy or extraordinary. There are about only 4 tables inside so it’s definitely not like a “dine-in” restaurant. The majority of their orders are to-go’s. It was a bit difficult to locate the restaurant as it’s clumped with the apartments.“
