“Our favorite place now! My order: Unagi (nigiri), Vegetable Tempura, Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Special. Dad's oder: Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Special and 5 order of maguro to go. The unagi was the best i have had in over 10 years. The tempura was light, crunchy and flavorful. My Dad is very particular about food and I am known to order the same item over and over. I have been trying different things and pleased with each one here. Everything was as good as it could possibly be. So happy!“
“All these reviews had me so excited. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. The spicy karaage was good, with a sweet heat, but the sushi rolls were average. The miso soup and salad were also average. My biggest complaint is the chopsticks- they were terrible quality. The prices were really confusing, but the staff were nice at least.“
“Sauce changed back to better sauce. It was fairly slow when I was there..... with that being said, I had hot food in front of me in 10 mins flat. From the the time I came through the door, was seated, cold water delivered, and hot chicken and beef teriyaki shortly after......10 mins!! Outstanding!! (And I was starving, so I sure did appreciate it). Don't let me forget to mention it was delicious...“
“It was my very first time going here I went with my aunt and uncle from rock climbing for 2 hours straight and the food was very very good this is definitely a five-star restaurant for Japanese food also the ramen actually made me quite sleepy that I can't even get up onto my loft bed that's how good the ramen was so I'm just going to so I'm just sleeping on the floor at my home, oh yeah and by the way I'm 12 years old but don't really know much about anime but all I know about anime is that and my food is seriously good I would advise to go here every single night this is why Zen Ramen and sushi burrito restaurant is a five star restaurant“
“Kyoto is a Japanese restaurant located on South Tacoma Way. This was my first time at this restaurant, and it was a pleasant time! When you walk through the glass doors, you walk over a little wooden bridge and wait to be seated by a host. There are booths scattered around, bar seating, and a private dining area. My sister and I were seated at a booth near the front. The ambiance was quite serene and calm. We needed a few minutes to think about what to order, especially since I was undecisive about what I wanted to try here. I ended up ordering the Sake Ju, while my sister ordered the Tempera Udon. Then, we shared the Super Dragon Roll. The Sake Ju had much more rice than salmon, which was a bit upsetting to me. I ordered it because I saw other pictures of people ordering it and it looked really appealing with how much salmon they got. I would not order that again, unless I decided to order sashimi on the side to eat with it. All in all, it was a good experience, and I would consider coming back again to try other items off the menu.“
“I've been searching for a good seared salmon nigiri in the area but haven't had any luck. Most of the sushi places we visit don't even offer it on their menu. However, this spot has the perfect seared salmon nigiri. I'll definitely be returning here for more.“
“Best buffet I have been to yet! Food/sushi is fresh and tastes delicious. The service is great, and you feel welcome. A couple of women love interacting with my baby and remember us, which is warming. The building is clean and had a very lovely decor. 100% recommend for a buffet!“
“This place is excellent! We had two California rolls, gyoza, and spicy teriyaki. All super yummy.I loved that the spicy chicken teriyaki had the vegetables mixed in instead of the side. I love spicy food so take this with a grain of salt but I'm calling this heat slightly over mild, but not quite medium. It is a comfortable little kick ?️ I didn't think I would like the rolls since the rice looked thinner than I'm used to but the flavor was absolutely there! I also got the regular fried gyoza ? which was awesome (dipping sauce too), but there is also steamed on the menu if you rather. My order was pickup so I didn't interact with the staff much, but they were all super welcoming and friendly when I walked in.We will be back for sure!!“
“Don't let the minimal decor fool you, the food is good and I liked the chill atmosphere. Sushi was decent, portions were good for 1-2 people, the combo meals can feed 2 adults. Ambiance was low key enough for my elderly mother and 5 year old nephew. Would go here again!“
“While in downtown Tacoma, Washington my friend recommended I check out TheKoi one of her favorite sushi restaurants in the area. She certainly steered me in the right direction. Professional and quick service. The sushi was so fresh it almost melted in my mouth. Stop in if you’re in the downtown area maybe after visiting the Tacoma Arts Museum. You sushi lovers will have a new favorite dining location to haunt.“
“This is the best sushi I have ever had! The fish is amazing and so so fresh! The staff is friendly and have amazing service. This is the first time bringing the kids (8 and 5). They loved it!Parking: Parking is right out front and there are lots of spots for parking.“
“Súper good !!! At first I was skeptical because I felt like the theme was the reason why it’s famous and the food might not be as good but I was proved wrong. The service is good and the food is delicious especially the portions! I’ve seen in other establishments how it’s around the same price but the quantity of the food is half of what’s served here. Definitely coming back !“
“We came here because of a good review. We felt like sushi and wanted to try a new place to us, It’s does not look like much from the outside. But it’s a hidden gem. Fresh fish. Extra large servings on the Bento box. It was authentic sushi. Great service. We plan to come back,“
“Customer service is always exceptional! We are treated like family when we go there everytime whether we dine in or out. Family friendly, date night one of our favorites! Happy hour great prices for soooo much fresh food we always get sushi. Everyone should try this place atleast once.“
“This place is a gem! They put a lot of care into the preparation. The ambience is very intimate and relaxing with a nice low light. The tuna is the tastiest tuna! Very fast service, very clean. The parking lot is convenient.Parking: I think that the parking lot must have about 12 parking spots. The parking along the street is also very convenient and accessible and free. I don’t think most people would have trouble with parking in this location.“
“Not sure why I've never reviewed this place. It's our go-to for our 1-2 times a month takeout. Yakisoba is my favorite, and my husband usually gets the bento box or the special. Spicy teriyaki is also very good. Everything we've tried is delicious. The food is consistently good. Portions are still very generous, which is appreciated with all the shrinkflation these days. I'd rather have price increases than ever-shrinking portions at some restaurants these days. This is the only neighborhood teriyaki place we will eat at after getting sick from the one down the street. Plus the owners are super nice!“
“An almost hidden gem in Spanaway. Tucked away in a small strip mall is the best teriyaki I've ever had. The place has a pleasant and quiet ambiance. The food is simply amazing. Parking is adequate and easily accessed of Pacific Avenue. Staff is always very nice and happy to serve you. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.“
“There are not a lot of sushi restaurants in Tacoma, and of those I know of, they tend to think they're in Seattle and it's okay to charge $20 a roll, or competing with gas stations to make you nervous, this place is the exception. It's affordable, not pretentious, cute interior with pretty solid sushi, (I stick with the veggie options but my friends have all enjoyed the fish, so second hand account on the actual sushi)If you live in the area and want sushi, I definitely recommend it, for whatever that's worth :)P.S. I'm grading this a bit on a curve due to the other options I've had, but it's a review so definitely biased in some way or another.“
“Very good teriyaki and katsu. Portions are big and worth the price. Food is served hot and fresh. Staff is friendly. To go order was ready quickly. There is a lot of seating available if you would like to dine in. I plan on returning. Would definitely recommend!“
“Poke bowl was awesome! Fresh Ahi with lots of fresh vegetables. It looked big at first but actually was easy to finish and it made you full and healthy but not stuffed. Ramen felt like it was a bit too hard and could have been cooked a tad more. The soup was warm not as hot as I expected but the broth was good. ? The cashier was nice.“
“We Were Amazed!Hungry and a long drive ahead of us, hit up google and jumped off the freeway, found Happy Teriyaki but had our doubts due to the area. Our waitress quickly brought us drinks and took our order. She was so very nice.In no time, she returned with a feast fit for a king.Portion size was incredible and better yet, the flavors were incredible. With every bite, we would comment on how good the food was!We highly recommend Happy Teriyaki in Tacoma. If we lived near Tacoma, it would be our go-to dining spot!100% ?“
“I was surprised by the portion sizes and the piece sizes, much bigger than most moderately priced sushi places, and the fish is well sourced. I am pretty certain it's Japan-sourced tuna. The service was excellent. Had a great server, and Kyle did an outstanding job above and beyond to cater to the kiddo. The atmosphere felt like a blend of older Japanese cultural styles with a modern and Westernized take.Price wise it wasn't too bad for 3 people came out to around $100 w/ tip. It can cost that much at Genki Sushi with just 2 people. I got the dragon roll & Nigiri plate (awesome deal), and the rest of the fam had a bento, call roll, cucumber salad a few other things.Overall I think it's priced appropriately, has good sushi for around here, and is a pleasant place.“
“I've been to many sushi places in the Tacoma/Seattle area and Fujiya certainly stands out as one the best. I can really only speak to the nigiri, but it is always fresh, melt in your mouth tender and generous slices of fish. So good! I want to go back just talking about it!“
“Nestled in Dupont, Koko Teriyaki offers an unforgettable dining experience with its flavorful cuisine and heartfelt hospitality. The vegetable stir fry, bursting with freshness and balanced flavors, stands out as a highlight for me as a veggie lover. Owners greet guests with genuine warmth, elevating the dining experience to feel like a cherished gathering among family. With a menu boasting a variety of mouthwatering dishes, Koko Teriyaki ensures every visit leaves a lasting impression of culinary excellence and heartfelt care.“
“My coworkers and I went to pick up lunch here one day when it was cold and rainy. While we were waiting the amazing lady brought us some hot soup and had us sit down to warm up. Reminded me of my grandma... love this place and I will definitely be back.“
