“Popped into the new location in downtown Gresham tonight. It’s so nice to see the cuisine options evolving. We tried a handful of items and were very pleased with the quality, flavor and value we received. The XLB were savory, deliciously soupy and tender. The clear shrimp dumpling (har gow) were plump. the wrapper was soft, smooth and not slippery at all! The pork shu mai were packed with perfectly seasoned steamed pork. Paired with the chili crisp, these were so good. The bbq pork bao were next level. The filling was moist and flavorful while the outer bun itself was fluffy, soft and delicate. Perfect Combo! The crispy pork belly was exactly as described. Super crispy! The meat was tender and flavorful. We were also given a chocolate mousse to try. boy was I pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t too sweet but was so fluffy and perfectly chocolatey. Hap steam is quaint and cozy. Few seats inside may be an issue for bigger parties. Restaurant is clean and staff is very kind. We will be back.“

“I got the yuzu miso ramen and my wife got the lime shio ramen. We also got chicken karaage with lemon sriracha aioli. Everything was fantastic. Such a good balance of flavors and just absolutely amazing. The workers were extremely friendly as well. I am 100% coming back here!“

“We tried the sautéed green beans and they were absolutely fantastic! Perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The popcorn chicken was also heavenly (crispy, juicy, completely addictive), and the pork chive wontons were also really good — fresh and super satisfying. Everything felt thoughtful and delicious. “Excellent spot! We had the signature noodles with pork belly in minimum spicy and the sesame chicken. The sesame chicken was perfectly sweet (not overpowering) and had good flavor. The noodles were delicious, not too spicy for my mild palate, and the pork belly was crunchy and succulent.“

“Love the experience, food is excellent. Chrysanthemum greens were a little tough, put all the flavors are there. Smart hospitality people throughout... Professional, efficient and friendly.
I'm a whole plant-based eater and had a great day however I wouldn't consider it the most healthy since I don't eat fried foods and use sugar or much oil.
For going out it's really 5 stars... I love good food and restaurants that are passionate about what they do, not just making money. This hits all cylinders.“

“Food tasted very fresh and the flavors were wonderful. They have a dispenser on the tables with mixed spices (not spicy), and one with spicy contents. I used the non-spicy powder on my Chow Mein and I was loving the flavor combinations. They also used this powder on our king oyster mushroom BBQ skewers. I think what stood out most to me was the menu variety. I admittedly couldn’t order most items because of dietary restrictions and the large amount of spicy foods, but I still love to see so many uncommon options.“

“BEST PLACE TO GET ASIAN FOODS!!! I was traveling from a different state here, and my group was really hungry, and we wanted Asian foods since we're Asian. This place surprised us so much. It tastes so much like our home country. I couldn't provide any picture because we were really hungry from the long trip and just dove in to eat. The food reminds me of my home country, and it was amazing. The prices are affordable. The service is awesome. My sister dropped her orange juice and got a new one without extra charges. It looks small and old, but the food isn't. The quality is fresh. The people are really friendly. Definitely coming back again.“

“The dumplings here are consistently excellent and perfect for sharing with friends or family. Ordering is simple and efficient, you place your order at the display screen at the counter, then head straight to your table. The whole process feels smooth, organized, and well thought out.

Food arrives quickly and never disappoints. I’ve eaten here several times and have yet to have a bad experience; everything has been fresh, flavorful, and satisfying each visit.

The restaurant also has an additional seating area, making it a good option for larger groups or busier times without feeling cramped.

Location-wise, it’s in a great spot right off Hawthorne with plenty of foot traffic. On a few visits, I’ve spent a couple of hours catching up with a friend and watching a steady stream of customers coming and going, proof that this place stays popular, especially during peak hours.

“Went here for dumpling week this year. The special duck dumplings were perfect with the combination of sweet and spicy. The miso twinkie was the perfect sweet treat after the spice of the dumplings. Excited to come back and try more of their food.“

“I enjoyed my experience at Xin Ding. The person who entertained us, Claire, showed me what to do (and what to avoid doing) when it comes to soup dumplings. I can't thank her enough, because it would have been a 'whole thing' if I would have burned myself at the table.
Interesting cocktails, sake and draft beers live here- TV's too. Visited on Super Bowl Sunday and sat comfortably watching the game.
I would definitely let someone bring me here to eat again.
Also, Claire told us about which sakes were more dry and which were on the sweet side, and so many other things because I asked beyond too many questions. She was patient. I'm glad she knows her stuff, I was confident in my order.

“I get my haircut in the area and my barber recommended this spot—really glad he did. The food here is excellent and the portions are generous. After first trying it, I ended up coming back about once a week for a month. The roasted duck is one of my favorite dishes, and everything I’ve had has been consistently good. “got there around 1pm on a Sunday, it took about 10 minutes for us to get a table- pretty cozy restaurant and fairly busy. Got our dishes within 5-10 minutes of ordering. The only downside is our A1 dish did not come with bokchoy and it took a minute for us to flag down a lady and took another 5 minutes for them to bring out some chopped bokchoy in a small bowl. The fish also wasn’t really minced but more like big chunks of cod…but we did enjoy the liver dishes, the sauce that came with 19 was very good and paired well with the dish. The youtiaos were also pretty good and tasted freshly made. As for the fresh soy milk, I perferred the cold over the hot and it tasted good but the soy flavor wasnt as strong as other places that I tried before. If I were to go back I’d for sure would like to try more of their liver dishes.“

“Best (and maybe only) handpulled Chinese noodles in the Portland area. The taste is quite on point with the ones I came to love in Northern China.

The only problem is the close early sometimes and aren't open on weekends. If they were, we'd no doubt have gone countless more times.

The spice level is no joke. I like it spicy, but still feel the heat (wouldn't have it any other way).“

“I was hesitant to go here because it’s right on Powell and I didn’t care for the previous businesses that occupied this space but I’m glad I got over that because the food is amazing.

I’ve been very happy with their Khao Pad, Pad Kee Mao, Pad Cashew Nut, Pad See Ew, and of course their Pad Thai. My partner loves their curry.

The staff are sweet and fast, happy to help if the kiosk ordering stations are not working properly. Small parking lot out back provides off-street parking for free, and a ramp from there provides ADA access. The prices are entirely reasonable and the portions are substantial. Can't recommend the spot enough, and they have multiple locations in the area. Genuinely, everything smelled, looked, and tasted so good that I forgot to photograph anything. If they sell their peanut butter garlic sauce separate, I would order an entire jar.“

“First time visit last night with six of us and they are very nicely opened up the toast restaurant and let us sit in there and we had such a nice evening and the waiter was so friendly and wonderful and really helped us out to get acquainted with the offerings we tried the vegetarian potstickers and also the various vegetarian tacos which were really good. Later we each had a vegetarian Ramen and every single one was delicious and I especially liked the one with the tofu and the hard-boiled egg and the spinach. They brought a small container of warm sake for me which I really liked with a tiny cup I got to choose. OverallI gave it a big 10+ and I would definitely eat there again and probably will go back pretty soon. The main thing is to try to find a time when the parking is not completely full in the area be prepared to park a ways away and walk which is good for us so it really wasn’t a problem.“

“Okay here’s an in depth review. I walk in front of the restaurant. It’s so beautifully decorated with plants and looks very charming and welcoming on the exterior. I walk in. My nose is hit with the delicious aroma of comforting Vietnamese food. “Hello customer!” Says the wonderful girl at the ordering station. “What are you looking to eat on this magnificent day my friend?” I tell her I’m not sure, she proceeds to show me their menu with all the delicious foods. I cant even decide because I want them all!!! After thinking for a bit I decide on the Vietnamese pho. And one of their hand crafted drinks. The kind young employee guides me to my seat. I look around at all the beautiful decorations— it feels like I’m transported straight to Vietnam. I help myself to a refreshing free cup of lemon water. About ten minutes after ordering my meal comes. Not only did I receive a very generous portion of pho, it came with lots of sides to pick from, and even a hand cut lime. I devour the pho. The beautful and kind employee takes my dirty dishes and gives me a warm smile. As I’m leaving the whole crew of cooks and employees say “Goodbye my friend! We are so happy we could nourish your soul and stomach!” I almost have tears in my eyes. No name pho felt like my own home. The food was affordable and made me feel comforted and safe. And the workers made me feel like royalty. Thank you all.“
