“Food is ok in general. Unfortunately they are more worry asking you how is the food than in the actual service. I bet they came at least 10 times asking about the food. My glass of water was half empty most of the time. I’ve got a refilled once. At the end, we checked the bill and we’ve got charge PST- WTH? I cannot imagine how many other people got charges and didn’t even know! Not impressed! I like most of the food, fried chicken needs it more flavour. The rest was good!“

“I was craving Chinese and I work in Windermere so I decided to make the drive to Chan Can Wok. Greeted right away. Just had a plate of Shanghi noodles for lunch and it came out fast and it was good. It was better than some lunch specials I use to get in Chinatown. Chef came out and asked how it was as well. Its a small operation, probably family run so I hope people can support it. I will be definitely going back for lunch again!“

“Pulled Noodle Beef Soup — 9/10

This is a beautifully composed bowl that feels deeply rooted in traditional hand-pulled noodle cooking. The first thing that stands out is the rich, clear beef broth—dark enough to suggest long simmering and plenty of beefy depth, while still looking clean rather than overly greasy. The braised beef has a wonderfully rustic appearance, with the pieces showing the kind of texture you want from a slow-cooked preparation: tender, juicy, and full of concentrated flavor.

The hand-pulled noodles are the star of the bowl. Their irregular shapes and folds give them tremendous character, and from the photos they appear soft and supple with enough structure to hold their bite. That combination of chew and tenderness is exactly what makes freshly pulled noodles special.

The generous amount of cilantro, scallions, and greens is also important from a chef’s standpoint. They bring freshness and lift to what could otherwise be a very rich bowl. The greens add another layer of texture and keep the broth from feeling heavy.

Pork & Chive Dumpling — 9/10

The dumpling looks exceptionally well formed, with a generous filling-to-wrapper ratio. The wrapper has a smooth, slightly glossy surface and appears thick enough to provide structure without overwhelming the filling.

From the cross-section, the filling looks moist and cohesive rather than dry or crumbly. Pork and chive is a classic combination for a reason: the richness of the pork is naturally balanced by the fresh, slightly pungent character of the chives.

The most impressive part visually is the pleating and sealed edge. It has the handmade quality you want from a dumpling rather than looking mass-produced. A good dumpling should give you several textures in one bite—the tender wrapper, juicy pork filling, and aromatic chives—and this one looks like it delivers exactly that.

I’d pair it with a dark vinegar, chili oil, and a little garlic rather than an overly salty sauce. The dipping sauce should sharpen the dumpling, not hide the pork and chive flavor.

“Took the cats to get a nail trim at the pet store beside here and decided to walk in and ask if they chould cook 1 chicken ball for the cat because she hates car rides and the nail trim and loves eating chicken she absolutely devoured the chicken and it calmed her down and made her relax so if you have a pet that hates car rides or nail trims and goes to the pet store beside them highly recommend getting a chicken ball for ur pet as a treat after there appointment solid food to great service“

“Came for the green onion pancake but was more impressed by the pork dumplings. The green onion pancake was pan fried crispy on the outside and still soft on the inside. Just the right amount of saltiness as well. The dumplings were one-bite sized and the filling was well seasoned. Also ordered the dan dan noodles but found rhen just average....on the bland side.“

“Long, long time patron. As a child, now 66, I fondly remember my father picking up our order especially Grey Cup Sunday. Watching pre game setting up the Christmas Tree, half time Dad would head out and pick up our pre order meal. We would finish the tree in the second half of course stopping to watch the game. After the game turned off the TV, turned the lights off except the tree only and rested. Hot cocoa and dessert. Perfect day and start of the advent season. The food over the past few years was still good but today's was just like childhood. Perfectly cooked and tasty. Thank you for a cherished memory I needed today. See you Grey Cup weekend!“

“As a Northerner from China with a serious obsession with baozi, this place absolutely met all my expectations!

I came to Edmonton last time but unfortunately couldn’t make a reservation because of my schedule. This time, I finally got to try it, and I ordered the pork & green onion baozi and the pork & seafood three-delicacies baozi. Both were absolutely delicious, and the portions were very generous.

The liangpi (cold skin noodles) was an especially pleasant surprise. It was so delicious that I honestly think it was even better than what I’ve had at many Chinese restaurants in China. Make sure to get the chili oil as well—it’s incredibly fragrant and really takes the liangpi to another level!

Highly recommended! If you love authentic Northern Chinese food, especially baozi, you definitely need to give this place a try.“

“Has been our go-to hot pot restaurant for years! Our kids are big fans of cooking their own food as well. We typically come for the $20(ish) lunch special which is an amazing deal and we usually have leftovers.“

“we came here for the first time and we knew by the smell of the food we could could expect good things. we ordered the honey chicken skewers along with the crab skewers and honestly those were a hit with our kids and ourselves. of course. there was no complaints about all the other foods including the cabbage and bean curd noodles which was AMAZING.“

There were only 2 of us & we ordered 4 different dishes & we are thrilled that there is enough left over for supper tonight as well. The ingredients were fresh and the flavours were delicious. If you are in the west end & looking for a new alternative for Asian food you must try Kaiming’s Kitchen. My favourite was the Kung Pao Chicken, but each dish was very tasty. “Dining here was an absolute delight! The owner was super friendly. There didn't appear to be private rooms, but the main hall is quite roomy. According to the owner, the place fits up to 40 people, so it's spacious enough for a group of 10 to 15 to dine comfortably.

I was honestly blown away by the jjambbong because it actually had real crab in it. It's so hard to find even back in Korea, so it felt nostalgic and extra special. Both the black bean noodles and jjambbong easily surpass many famous restaurants in Korea. I also tried one of the fried chicken dishes—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. Highly recommended!“

“I was looking for a new place to get barbecued pork because I'd always gotten it at the Lucky Supermarket, but every time I went, it seemed like they were always closed, so today I went to check out something different.

100% best BBQ Sausage EVER ( pretty sure the links are in house made with a custom spice blend and they are LEGIT)best BBQ Pork I've had in Edmonton in a long time, we tried without the sauce first, and the meat is seasoned perfectly, I find a lot of places use the sauce as the only flavoring for the meat.But this meat definitely has a good flavor even without the sauce. The people working were so kind and helpful, we went 1 hour after opening and they were almost sold out of the sausage (for a Sunday I'm not surprised next time I'll go at opening and buy lots) cute little BBQ shop reminds me of my favorite BBQ shops in Downtown Vancouver. The place is an older building but very clean, i spied into the back kitchen and everything looked pretty good like I said, older place, so of course it doesn't look new but everything was definitely washed and well kept. A lot of pride was put into this product and i'm very appreciative of it. Totally recommend for anybody searching for a good place to buy chinese barbecue.“

“Mr. Bun is my go to spot in the city for soup dumplings! The XLB are always fresh, plump, and juicy. I find it comparable to Din Tai Fung and that’s saying a lot!! I also always order the dan dan noodles, which is another must try. The bowl is big enough to share.

I also like trying at least one new dish every time I visit, and so far, I’ve never had anything I didn’t enjoy. The food has been consistently good, and I hope this place stays in the city for a long time.

I would say the service can be a bit hit or miss. We usually go for lunch, but the last time we went for dinner, we waited exceptionally long for someone to take our order, bring us water, and check in on us. I’m guessing it may have been a staffing issue that evening.“
