“Most times I go, it's quiet. They've raised prices but I still go because the food is so homey. Portions are huge and servers are very friendly. When I want lots of flavor options for noodles I go here. Also they have the best soup dumplings I know in Edmonton.“

“Got the $19.99 combo, I got the satay soup and my friend got the mushroom soup, both were super good, the Mushroom was flavourful and a little sweet, the satay spice didn’t hit until a little later as just a pleasant tingle.
I got rice instead of noodles and a mix of meats and my friend got mostly more mushrooms. A good amount for $20 and I got a container of soup to go which after boiling down for an hour it’s going to be so good tomorrow.“

From the start, it was such a warm and wellcoming greeting from May.The care and attention she demonstrated not only to our table, but to every walk in and call in patron was above and beyond. As a business owner and operator of various ventures in vancouver for over 45 years, I still pay attention to good customer service so I can learn , demonstrate and practice that manner on on my clients . During our time, we started small talk with the nice couple next table to us which lasted over an hour ... I got to meet the most wonderful people.
My hosts in Edmonton are not too into chinees food (they prefer schinzls,potato salad, weisswurst , bratwurst and sourcrouts!) however they were so impressed with the quality of the food that they will highly recommend this establishment to their friends and family. What made it impressive was when the owner Jeff who also overseas the kitchen and his right hand man Tony mingled with customers and thanked everyone for their support.
I visit Edmonton approximately 6 to 7 times a year and I'm so looking forward to going back to Chan Can Wok and May better be on shift 😊.

Our server, Randy, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of; he was very kind and attentive. This is a beautifully composed bowl that feels deeply rooted in traditional hand-pulled noodle cooking. The first thing that stands out is the rich, clear beef broth—dark enough to suggest long simmering and plenty of beefy depth, while still looking clean rather than overly greasy. The braised beef has a wonderfully rustic appearance, with the pieces showing the kind of texture you want from a slow-cooked preparation: tender, juicy, and full of concentrated flavor.

The hand-pulled noodles are the star of the bowl. Their irregular shapes and folds give them tremendous character, and from the photos they appear soft and supple with enough structure to hold their bite. That combination of chew and tenderness is exactly what makes freshly pulled noodles special.

The generous amount of cilantro, scallions, and greens is also important from a chef’s standpoint. They bring freshness and lift to what could otherwise be a very rich bowl. The greens add another layer of texture and keep the broth from feeling heavy.

What I particularly like is the contrast: deeply savory beef and broth, springy noodles, fresh herbs, and crisp-tender greens. It looks like comfort food, but there is real technique behind it.

Pork & Chive Dumpling — 9/10

The dumpling looks exceptionally well formed, with a generous filling-to-wrapper ratio. The wrapper has a smooth, slightly glossy surface and appears thick enough to provide structure without overwhelming the filling.

From the cross-section, the filling looks moist and cohesive rather than dry or crumbly. Pork and chive is a classic combination for a reason: the richness of the pork is naturally balanced by the fresh, slightly pungent character of the chives.

The most impressive part visually is the pleating and sealed edge. It has the handmade quality you want from a dumpling rather than looking mass-produced. A good dumpling should give you several textures in one bite—the tender wrapper, juicy pork filling, and aromatic chives—and this one looks like it delivers exactly that.

I’d pair it with a dark vinegar, chili oil, and a little garlic rather than an overly salty sauce. The dipping sauce should sharpen the dumpling, not hide the pork and chive flavor.

“I discovered this restaurant late last year and it has been my go to ever since. If i want Chinese food this is exclusively the restaurant I order from. Their combo meals are more affordable from other places while also having huge portions, fantastic flavour and quality ingredients. Their bbq pork is the most amazing i have ever had, it has a sweet flavour to it and i 100% recommend it.

The service is prompt and the staff are always so friendly, ordered them again tonight and they threw it some free noodles that were fantastic. 10/10 i do recommend.“

This is the best place to buy Chinese food in Edmonton, and we have tried many different placed before we discovered this jewel.

The only downside is they are closed on Tuesdays, but other than that, their prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get with their meal options.

It as taken us a few years before we found Elegant Court, and ever since then we do not buy Chinese food anywhere else. The quality is always the same....
We stay jut outside of their delivery area so we always order and pickup.

“I usually come here for lunch. Their portions are always generous, and the serving sizes are more than enough. Since I usually dine alone, I rarely finish everything and almost always end up taking some home.

The server is always warm, friendly, and attentive. She regularly checks in to make sure I have everything I need and asks if there's anything else she can do for me.

There was only one occasion when onions were accidentally added to my meal even though I had requested otherwise. Honestly, it didn't bother me because they apologized right away. Sometimes all we really need is honest communication, and when a restaurant responds promptly and sincerely, it makes all the difference. A small mistake like that certainly isn't a reason for me to leave a one-star review.

Overall, my experiences here have been consistently positive, and I realized I had never taken the time to leave the five-star review they truly deserve. It's funny how we often forget to review businesses when we're happy with their service, yet it's so easy to leave a negative review over one small disappointment.

I believe every business deserves to be treated with fairness and appreciation. No place is perfect, but what matters most is how they treat their customers and how they respond when something doesn't go as planned. This restaurant has always done that well, and I'm happy to recommend it.“

On to the food, since you order ahead you are freshly made meat buns. This has to be one the best I’ve had. The filling is generous, and it’s delicious, tender and full of flavour. You get 8 buns for around $12-15 depending on your choice of filling. The 8 pack weighs over 2.3lbs of delicious filling.

The owners are very nice and friendly. You can tell their focus is on making the best tasting buns possible. Highly recommend for the drive!
