“My husband and I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary dinner here and had a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and each dish was full of flavour. I’ve never made calamari so I don’t know if it’s hard to get it right as I’ve had really tough and rubbery calamari. Sabor’s was exquisite and perfectly done. It was the best meal we’ve had. The staff were friendly, and professional. Our waiter was outstanding, very attentive and certainly competent. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Treat yourself and go.“

“We have now had lunch and dinner at this restaurant and enjoyed both experiences. The food is creative and excellent, as well as the service. Our evening meal was a dining experience rather than just going out to eat, something that we feel is lacking in the restaurant world in Edmonton. Today for lunch we ordered the “Tic Tac Toe” and it was quite a unique display of various cuisines and was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.“

“Went to Hayloft in early August, on a Tuesday night. Ordered the Denver and the strip loin, with a side of Parmesan fries and wedge salads. The whole meal was AMAZING! Most tender steak ever. Loads of shaved Parmesan on the fries. TWO 1/4 head wedges per plate with a light, tangy dressing that had a slightly salty spike from the blue cheese and lots of pieces of real smoked bacon. The Denver is a shoulder cut marinated and fall off your fork tender and flavourful. The mushroom risotto was creamy with a slightly hard core, and lots of mushrooms. The sharp lime tang of the lightly charred, yet firm cauliflower was a perfect counterpoint to the risotto. Even though the server was still training, she was personable and knowledgeable, and willing to find the answers to question on the menu if she did not know them. Cocktails were original. Portions were large, served very warm. I finished with an Earl Grey tea. This was the clincher to detail for me. The tea was loose leaves in a strainer inside a stoneware pot. This keeps the water hot and allows a good steep. The only place in western Canada that I can get a good steep in a restaurant! Prices are in the upper range, but reasonable for the quality and proportions. Truly a 5-star gem!“

“Visited Ribeye for my first time to look for something special for the long weekend. I was deeply impressed by the quality of the product and the level of knowledge and customer service offered - they are just nice people that leave you feeling good to be supporting a local business. We bought one of their packaged deals (the Steak Lovers). I've only had the ribeyes so far, but boy were they delicious. I really like their selection of specialty items such as Caplansky's mustards, finishing butters and pickles. I've been looking for a great butcher since moving to Alberta 8 years ago (Alberta has the best beef, but finding the right team to do the cutting has been challenging). I've definitely found my local.“

The fish was hot and tasty, the fries were crispy. We didn't order the coleslaw. The portions were hearty. I had the 2 piece cod dinner and could hardly finish. Delighted to see more fish than fries on my plate and battered in house not frozen.Will definitely be back to this location. PS, love the signature yellow fish stuffy at the entrance. Saw several people give him a pat on the head. A fan favourite, for sure.

“If you're anything like me, when you're in the mood to go for Vietnamese food, there are no shortages of Vietnam restaurants available in Edmonton to satisfy your cravings. My wife and I are no strangers to many of these restaurants because it's one of our staples at least several times a month. Each restaurant has its own unique dish(es) so if you're anything like me, I take note of what dish each place is famous for...(at least to me and my wife). Hands down, the spring rolls will be Golden Bird. Salad Rolls would be Siam Thai Restaurant, but in this case, we decided we wanted Pho. And the best place to go for Pho, is Calgary Trail Restaurant in Edmonton. When you first walk in the decor is exactly the same as it was some 20 years ago, so it does need to be updated, but I don't come for the atmosphere...I come for exceptionally good food at a price that is totally fair for what you get. The gentleman who owns the establishment is always very quiet but when you get him talking he's really quite funny. I automatically ordered their very special Vietnamese iced coffee to start. If you haven't tried it before then you're in for a treat. Each restaurant uses their own espresso blend but Calgary Trail Restaurant uses (in my opinion) the best, which makes it outstanding. My wife on the other hand ordered the 3 colors Vietnamese drink. A traditional coconut based concoction that uses red bean and grass jelly, which creates a kaleidoscope of colors in your glass. It's really quite delicious. We invited 2 other friends to join us and I ordered the spring rolls and salad rolls to get the evening off to a good start. My wife ordered the very unusual Dill Fish Cake soup. She described her soup as a delicate but flavorful broth, that came with tender fish cake patties infused with a wonderful dill flavor. She absolutely loved it. I ordered my usual... number 118. Sweet and sour soup with Shrimp and Chicken. This place absolutely knocks this soup out of the park. With the sweet chunks of tomato and pineapple combined with spicy chicken broth with good sized prawns and chunks of chicken breast. A real satisfying meal that makes you leave nothing in the bowl at the end. It's so delicious, that it will be a soup that not only satisfies you but it literally nourishes the soul. It's our go to place when we want great food in a virtually quiet atmosphere. This place should be packed but unfortunately it never is. This is one place that will give you value for your hard earned money. So I suggest anyone reading this should patronize Calgary Trail Restaurant. If not, we may lose a hidden gem forever.“

Can't beat the flavor, quality and best of all it was all for under 20 bucks with a drink.

“Pretty good overall my steak was amazing I got a New York strip loin medium rare and had the sushi as a appetizer a bit pricy for the sushi 20$ for around 8 Pisces and the steak was around 60$ it’s a good steakhouse and oyster bar but I would say bit overpriced in my opinion. My waiter was excellent and the service was amazing.“

“Consistently good and fair priced chicken. Can't go wrong with basically anything on the menu, the only thing I can't speak for is the seafood. Usually get the spicy tenders meal but the chicken sandwich is probably the best out of all the chains. Only one with a blackened chicken sandwich option too as far as I know. Sauces are quite good too, recommend the buffalo and honey mustard most.

Wings are good but too expensive for the portions I think. Great and unique fries.

Service is always friendly and fast but sometimes has forgotten items/given us the wrong ones and occasionally without receipt.

If you're planning to pick up KFC on the way home, do yourself and your loved ones the favour of coming here instead. Your taste buds will thank you.“
