50 Best Coffee Shops in Birmingham

“Punchlove is one of my most favorite Birmingham coffee shops! They have incredible coffee, pastries, and non-coffee drinks! I especially love the sarcastic, seasonal menu. They have a lot of unique flavors and menu items–– I'm a big fan of the Punchies–– as well as a plethora of dairy-free drink options.

Great atmosphere with beautiful plants, and the owner is super knowledgeable about coffee. However, I wouldn't recommend this spot if you're planning to do work or focus. They don't offer wi-fi and have a no laptop policy on the weekends.

“I stopped by the location in Montgomery by chance a few weeks ago, and loved their coffee. Was so pleased to see we have our own location in Birmingham as well! I got the cold brew with macadamia milk, and it was great! The store is bright and airy, and the baristas are helpful, kind, and efficient. There is street parking nearby for visitors.

Vegetarian options: bagels, pastries, yogurt, dairy and nondairy milk.

“In my opinion, the best coffee on Shelby County’s side of Highway 280. Have always been a fan of their location in Hoover so when they announced a new location here, I was excited. Great news is their coffee has the same amazing taste as their Hoover location. Highly recommend it to any coffee lovers here on this side of town“

“Oh man where do I start??! The taste of this coffee is divine. The baristas are quick and kind, easily able to become your next besties. This place has not just coffee, but also REAL chai and REAL matcha from REAL ethical and sustainable sources. Need a snack? They’ve got everything from full breakfast meals to snacks before lunch to lunchtime sandwiches. All of this and it’s conveniently located in the downtown region center see you can pop by before doing your banking business! There anything more convenient or helpful??? “I purchased the 20 Oz Americano with vanilla, Simple Syrup, and heavy whipping cream. It was pretty good. I didn't eat anything, but I noticed someone eating a sandwich, and it looked delicious.

I gave the Atmosphere a 3 star... the chairs are hard with this really long bench, and I would remove that and do the cushioned chairs that they have in place of that.“

“I love this restaurant. I am a flight attendant and was in town for a layover and I decided to get brunch because I was going through a really hard time. It was actually my mom‘s death anniversary and I was struggling. I ordered brunch and a carafe of mimosas to myself and Riley (staff) actually came to talk with me and I really needed that. The staff seem to care about their jobs and their customers. Even while dealing with difficult people they kept their composure and grace. I would definitely go back if I’m in Birmingham again.“

“We walked up right at closing time and we were reading the menu and hours on the door. The owner opened the door and offered to serve us, 5 of us. The churros were amazing and the service was exceptional. I’m only in Birmingham every few weeks- but will be stopping by each time for a treat! “I recently had gastric sleeve surgery and have had a terrible time trying to find stuff to drink that is calorie free and no artificial sweeteners. A friend suggested that I try the tropical tea. I did and I was hooked!! Their customer service is amazing and when my order was put on back order, they were so friendly and did everything they could to get my order pushed through.“

“Locally owned, hole in the wall venue, friendly service, amazing breakfast! Highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by and visit at least once. The fried pork chop and egg breakfast is second to none. The western or meat lovers omelette is absolutely delicious! The French toast is not for the diabetic with its extremely flavorful cinnamon and powdered sugar topping. Another recommended breakfast choice is asking for grilled toast, you'll think me later!
If you live close or traveling through, you need to visit our friends over at the cedar house and experience the local food!“

“My first time to order a coffee at the "new" Starbucks inside the remodeled Target. Starbucks was moved over to what was once the small in-store snack/cafeteria and it also got a nice remodel,. I ordered a regular coffee and the server asked if I wanted a flavor with it so I asked for vanilla and the drink was great - I really liked it as I have found most "regular" coffees in Starbucks are too bitter for my taste and required me to add much cream. This new Starbucks is nice, clean and lighting is great.“

“Lots of good things about this coffee shop, notably the pleasant service and excellent range of veggie wraps. The toasted fruit bread is also delicious. Only complaint is that - like Muffin Break a few doors down - the tables can be taken up by people who are just sitting there not doing anything in particular or no longer eating or drinking. I realise this is hard to address but it's a problem in this part of the mall. Who wants to pay £7-8 for a drink and a snack, if there's nowhere to sit?“
