“I always stop at this location for breakfast on my way downtown for work. The service here is is fast and they are friendly. They actually ask you how many cream and sugars you want in your coffee. The biscuits are soft and fresh. The pleasant staff is what I appreciate the most.“

“Punchlove is one of my most favorite Birmingham coffee shops! They have incredible coffee, pastries, and non-coffee drinks! I especially love the sarcastic, seasonal menu. They have a lot of unique flavors and menu items–– I'm a big fan of the Punchies–– as well as a plethora of dairy-free drink options.

Great atmosphere with beautiful plants, and the owner is super knowledgeable about coffee. However, I wouldn't recommend this spot if you're planning to do work or focus. They don't offer wi-fi and have a no laptop policy on the weekends.

“This is an awesome Latin-owned coffee shop, right here in bham. Everyone who works here is always welcoming. And, perhaps most importantly, the coffee is excellent. The shots are consistent and the beans are great. Oscar who manages the store knows his stuff. I always end up getting the horchata latte because it was too good to pass up after I tried it once, but perhaps one day I will branch out. Glad to see the stickers keep growing on the tables :)“

“I’m not a coffee drinker. But a local chef(shout out to Whitney Simone!) I follow and patronize raved about Rochelle’s grit bowl, so I decided to try breakfast here. I wished that it was advertised that breakfast was sold here because I always thought this place was just a coffee spot. Anyway, I was sooooo impressed with the cuteness of the decor inside. It felt very cozy and intimate. Soft music played in the background. I love the branding on the cups and other merchandise for purchase. Upon entering, my friend and I were greeted warmly. We placed our orders and found a place to sit. The seats were comfy and a bright red that matched the theme of it also being a lounge. There was a little free library where you could take home a free book. There were several small tvs available to watch. Our food came out after a short wait. Yall….my grit bowl was absolutely splendid! The grits were creamy and perfect- not too thick, not too thin. The meats were delicious as were the eggs. My friend enjoyed his pancakes but also wanted to try the grit bowl after hearing me rave about mine. After he devoured his, he agreed that it was just as good as I told him it was. My peach smoothie came in this cute little sealed cup with the branding on it. I love a business that doesn’t skip on the branding! I enjoyed my experience here 100% and I’m even thinking of returning tomorrow morning for breakfast! One thing I would improve: I hope the owners consider advertising that they sell breakfast as well. Folks like me that may not be coffee drinkers but who love breakfast will gladly patronize the business…if we know they sell more than coffee. Overall, this place earned my 5 stars.“

“I usually get a drip coffee with steamed heavy cream but today I got a lavender iced matcha. It was so good I had to finally leave a review. LOL.

I am a regular at Santos Mountain Brook. I've tried several of your locations (and other local coffee shops) and Santos Mountain Brook is HANDS DOWN my favorite. I could be bias but it's probably your best location, service wise. The entire crew - from Austin, Alex, Collette, to alllllllll my girls (yes, they are mine because they treat me like I'm family LOL) - AND the strong smooth drip coffee really makes my day. You all really scored big when you established this environment. I've yet to find a coffee shop where I look forward to giving my money, as well as getting up on a Saturday morning just to get to my favorite table.

Very nostalgic with all the old retro video games. They have so many board games, gaming set ups, XL checkers, etc. it was very busy and seemed to be super popular spot!“

“I liked the Mayan coffee and the stoic service. I don't know what happened to my hearing that day but I had the hardest time understanding the barista. She took it in stride and after my third fumble she started speaking with an accentuation that bordered on the theatrical and a smile that showed more empathy than frustration or sarcasm. This place has not just coffee, but also REAL chai and REAL matcha from REAL ethical and sustainable sources. Need a snack? They’ve got everything from full breakfast meals to snacks before lunch to lunchtime sandwiches. All of this and it’s conveniently located in the downtown region center see you can pop by before doing your banking business! There anything more convenient or helpful??? “I stopped by the location in Montgomery by chance a few weeks ago, and loved their coffee. Was so pleased to see we have our own location in Birmingham as well! I got the cold brew with macadamia milk, and it was great! The store is bright and airy, and the baristas are helpful, kind, and efficient. There is street parking nearby for visitors.

“I love this restaurant. I am a flight attendant and was in town for a layover and I decided to get brunch because I was going through a really hard time. It was actually my mom‘s death anniversary and I was struggling. I ordered brunch and a carafe of mimosas to myself and Riley (staff) actually came to talk with me and I really needed that. The staff seem to care about their jobs and their customers. Even while dealing with difficult people they kept their composure and grace. I would definitely go back if I’m in Birmingham again.“

“I recently had gastric sleeve surgery and have had a terrible time trying to find stuff to drink that is calorie free and no artificial sweeteners. A friend suggested that I try the tropical tea. I did and I was hooked!! Their customer service is amazing and when my order was put on back order, they were so friendly and did everything they could to get my order pushed through.“

“I stopped by Hello Bakery and was blown away by their delicious croissants—but what really stood out was the owner's kindness! I bought four pastries, and to my surprise, they gifted me a free almond croissant! 😍

Croissant Quality:
The croissants here are perfectly flaky, buttery, and freshly baked. The plain croissant had a crisp exterior with soft, airy layers inside, while the almond croissant (my free treat!) was rich, slightly sweet, and packed with crunchy almond goodness. Absolutely delicious!

Customer Service:
The owner was warm and welcoming, and the free croissant was such a lovely gesture. It’s rare to find a bakery that cares so much about making customers happy!

Final Thoughts:

“Stopped into Santos Coffee & Bar Uptown for a quick breakfast snack while attending a convention at the BJCC, and it was a nice little find. I grabbed the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant — it was good, warm, and hit the spot, though not the best I’ve had.

What really stood out, though, was the strawberry smoothie — excellent flavor, refreshing, and made just right. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and need a quick boost.

Friendly staff, good vibe, and a convenient spot to escape the convention bustle for a few minutes. Solid 4 out of 5 stars from me — and I’d go back for that smoothie alone.“
