“I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and I have a really good experience regarding the food and the atmosphere.

However, although the service was not bad, I noticed one server who was not really happy about helping customers, which is ok, but makes the experience a bit awkward.“

“I really enjoyed having a late lunch at Sushi Kumo. It was peaceful - I bet they are quite busy during the dinner rush.

Service was polite and very minimal like most sushi places. Decor was light, airy and clean. Nothing out of the ordinary. Prices are higher, but I think its reflected in the quality and care of the food.

I had an entrée but next time I will be trying their rolls and sashimi - overall it was pretty tasty. Would definitely like to try more dishes!

Their fish seemed higher quality and I really liked their complimentary tea; the server told me it was green tea with brown rice, for a more roasted tatse.

“I was in Deep Cove, thinking about grabbing a Subway when I noticed Genji Japanese Restaurant next door and couldn’t resist stepping in. The restaurant is right beside Subway in Parkgate Village Shopping Plaza, with convenient parking right in front — super easy stop.

Even though it was close to closing time, the receptionist welcomed me with a warm smile and patiently helped when I mentioned I’m vegetarian and not very familiar with Japanese food. She suggested a few options, and I went with avocado sushi for take-out.

While waiting, I noticed their private dining booths, which looked great for a more cozy experience, and the main dining area was very clean with a really nice atmosphere.

My order was ready in about five minutes, the price was very reasonable, and the service felt genuinely friendly. The sushi was fresh and delicious — honestly one of the best vegetarian sushi experiences I’ve had.

“Little Japan in the Lynn Valley Mall offers delicious food cooked and served by a wonderful man who always has a welcoming smile. This is my absolute favourite take-out restaurant but I've also eaten right there at one of Little Japan's tables. The food is very very good food especially the chicken or beef terriyaki. Highly recommend. Try this Lynn Valley location in North Vancouver or the Harbour Centre location in downtown Vancouver. April 2025.“

While I was waiting, I overheard the owner say to a staff member, “She ordered takeout and she sat in the restaurant.” I want to be completely honest that I did not clearly hear the word takeout, but the tone and context made it clear the comment was about me sitting there while waiting. The restaurant was completely empty at the time, which made the remark feel unnecessary. Even if there is a preference about seating, it is rude to speak about a customer within earshot instead of communicating directly.

I am still giving five stars because I do not care to negatively affect a small business over one interaction, especially since the reviews are already not that high. I simply hope more awareness is taken in the future about how customers can hear conversations happening around them.

“We are new to this area and this place needs more love. We have been coming here almost twice a week for the last 2.5 months!!
Kudos to all the servers and staffs. They have amazing customer service! Servers are very helpful in explaining food items and they were able to accommodate big party.
We love coming here for our big gatherings.
Food was very quick and delicious.
All the servers are very friendly to our kids (played happy birthday song for my kid's birthday) and even brought water for our dog. Additionally they are open until late night (like midnight!!!!!!!)! It's great to have something open so late in Lynn Valley area! other than McDonalds.
I would recommend doing reservations on Friday nights if you are brining a big party, but they have lots of tables and the restaurant is very spacious.
They have incredible menu and fun rolls and we cannot wait to try all the different options

“There’s one man in a narrow kitchen and one mildly harried woman at the register and somehow all was great. I really liked the scallop rolls. Not a lot of seating but we luckily got a table in the corner. A reliable choice for a casual meal. I was sated.“

“This is my go to sushi restaurant the food is exceptional and the prices are really reasonable. They are always quick to bring the food out and takeout is really easy from there. One thing is there is limited seating inside but overall it’s such a good sushi place.“

“My dad and I have been getting takeout from Nobu for 20 years. One of my fondest childhood memories is stopping for sushi on our way from an after school activity; now, as adults, we still come and pick up when he’s in town! The food is as wonderful now as it was then, and the owners are such wonderful, kind, hard working people. We are so grateful to have Nobu still in Edgemont!!“

Glad to see that my favourite sushi place on the Shore has opened up again. Every time I came here it was for their lunch combo special of $9.50 where you have a choice of almost 30 mix and match items such as agedashi tofu, veggie teriyaki, shrimp tempura roll, and gyoza. The mix and match combo also includes a bowl of miso soup. Without a doubt, it’ll satisfy all types of palates. The combo offer is good until 5 pm.

Service was prompt and friendly. There’s free parking available and is just a few doors down from Save On Foods shopping plaza off Marine Drive and Pemberton Ave.
Dining hours are 11:30 am – 8 pm from Monday to Thursday & on Saturdays; 11:30 am to 9 pm on Fridays; 4 pm to 8 pm on Sundays. It’s my go-to sushi place whenever I am on the Shore. You’ll get good value and service here!“

“We had dinner at Mr. Sushi on a Saturday night without a reservation and we were seated right away. It was very busy and the waitresses were rushing around, providing great service.
