“So enjoyed coming here for first time recently. Sushi was so professionally presented and so fresh, plus absolutely delicious! Dancing Unagi and Apple bBossom specialty rolls were like artwork on a plate, then a party in the mouth. YUM!!! All were so friendly and attentive. I really was impressed! Loved the atmosphere too. “This is my family's favourite Japanese restaurant. The food is consistently high quality, fresh, good portions, and well-priced (as long as you eat in or use their pickup order system). There aren't a lot of places that the adults AND the kids in my household like, but Sakeya is always a hit.

Vegetarian options: Their veggie roll has cucumber, avocado, and pickled radish, and is DELICIOUS. we also love the Inari Nigiri (sweetened tofu skin pockets filled with rice). My kids won't eat tofu in any other form, but they love this.“

“Apologies to my former fav sushi restaurant but, Hanayuki is officially my new favorite Sushi Restaurant in the lower mainland.
The food came out so quickly, the staff were super friendly and accommodating despite us arriving an hour before closing, and the atmosphere was warm with very cozy seating.
It is close to some popular local spots like Rocky Point, Belcara, Sasamat Lake, and Buntzen so we will be back again regularly which is an absolute treat.
The quality of the food and fish was unparalleled and the miso soup really hit the spot after a cold swim. My friend had the Tonkatsu which she said was the best she has had in a long time and the closest to what she makes at home.
I really recommend the Salmon Run Roll and the Tataki Attack Roll. The gyoza is very crispy and the Toro melts in your mouth.
I cannot wait to go again and bring more of our family too!“

“We ordered the “Okonoman Date” Set for around $62 + tax and service charge. It came with salad, sushi, sashimi, makis, terriyaki, tempura, miso soup. We were so full. The set can be good for 3, if you’re not so hungry or if you don’t eat much. Service was fast, the waitress was friendly, and the booths made eating there private and special.

Overall the don is fantastic with colossal serving sizes. I believe there was a $10 chashu don special at one point and it was wonderful. The don never disappoints.

Ramen is a little small for me but the taste is always great and beautiful presentation.

The atmosphere is nice with simple wood tables and seats, moderate lighting and relatively quiet.

Servers are nice and do a great job.

The food quality is TOP notch, the service is awesome, the variety of offering is great, pricing is on par with other restaurants. And the value is outstanding.

Consistently providing great sushi, we’ve been order or dining in for the past 2 years.
Our favs are the staples: Avocado roll, Tuna roll, Sockeye Sashimi roll, Tuna & Sockeye Sashimi etc.

And for fun try the DejaVu or Geisha Roll when you can… LOVE IT

“This is a very unassuming location, a small restaurant that is tucked away at a corner of a strip mall, almost out of sight. But, what a discovery!

The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients, great quality of seafood used, and nice portions. I had the Aburi Inari Sampler and the Ebi & Gyu Don, and they were both delicious. Flavourful combination of dishes that I haven’t tried before in other Japanese restaurants.

Customer service was very friendly and courteous from start to finish. Overall, this is a hidden gem that I am very glad that I discovered. Very lovely place.

“I left the atmosphere part blank because I have only ordered delivery, but for freshness and presentation. Everything is so so good, and the prices are really reasonable. My personal favourite is the temaki (hand rolls) Not many sushi places have them nowadays. Negitoro, spicy tuna, and dynamite are my 3 favs :)“

“The food is great. I ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, and the lunch special chirashi. The spicy salmon had a sweet and spicy sauce which I liked a lot. The lunch special was good too with the sweet teriyaki sauce on the rice and sashimi. However, the sashimi was at room temperature, I don’t like. It should be slightly below room temperature, but not freezing. The miso soup was perfect.

The service was amazing. I had a very friendly server, she would check up on me if everything was good and offered more tea. She was a bit quiet though, I couldn’t really hear her through the music that was playing.

The atmosphere is dark with warm lighting which I love. The place is a bit old, and dirty, but this place has been here for a long time, so I understand. They had action figures along the walls which makes this sushi place very unique and has its own personality. While I was eating though, there were fruit flies flying around.

I can see myself bringing my family here for dinner. I recommend trying this place out.“

“This place has THE BEST SUSHI. Good portions for great pricing not like some super expensive sushi places that give you next to no food. Their miso soup is heavenly, above average by a wide margin and the restaurant is always very clean. Staff is great and friendly! Literally do not go anywhere else for amazing sushi. The Nagoya Special roll is excellent and not too pricy for a fancy roll. Quality is always very fresh and the food comes out quickly.“

“Small business, family owned! Cute classic sushi layout inside. You can eat at a table or the “bar style area” where they make your sushi. You can tell they take pride in their restaurant from the moment you walk in. Super nice people and with the warmest smiles.

Experienced great service as they were always ensuring our tea is filled and that we enjoyed are food. The prices are very affordable compared to a lot of sushi places out there these days.

The portions were SO HUGE, a lot of rice but also a lot of fillings / very big pieces of fish too (a rarity these days). I almost wanted to use my hands to eat, as each piece had solid weight to them! PLUS, The fish was extremely fresh… toro was my favorite. I ordered the same amount of rolls I usually do and can easily eat, but this time it was a struggle! And that’s a testament to the generous portions. Bonus points: the tea tasted like the proper roasted green tea that was hot, not like Luke warm water ?

To summarize, I would definitely come back!

One thing that stood out to us on this visit was this hedgehog ? dessert. It was a chocolate ? covered chocolate gelato ice cream ?, it was so good. I highly suggest you try it out. I think it was only $13.95 for "Vege Set A", and it was a filling meal. It came with Miso Soup, Salad, 6pc Yam Tempura Roll, and 8pc Vegetable Roll. I tried something different in going with Veggies, but that Vegetable Roll will be on my next order for sure.

“The Nigiri Combo was an absolute standout. Each piece of fish was fresh and beautifully presented. The balance of flavors—between the delicate fish and perfectly seasoned rice—was sublime.

The Tempura was crisp and golden. It was light and not greasy at all.
